this might be the best one ill ever attend...its not until sept but i found their site on theknot.com....now i normally despise weddings...dressing up is hideous...small talk is even worse...tableing up with people you dont know and want to set on fire after five minutes and all that crap....
however this wedding could be amazing...
LOCATION
Congress Hall
251 Beach Ave.
Cape May, NJ
THE ATTIRE
Somewhere in between black tie and casual... It is a beachfront wedding that will take place on the grassy courtyard of an elegant hotel. Be yourself!
THE MENU
No sit-down dinner... We'd like everyone to mingle and have fun. There will be a variety of hot and cold appetizers as well as several different stations ranging from pasta to steak to seafood and everything in between. There will be something to satisfy all taste buds!! Oh, how could I forget? A 5 hour top-shelf open bar will also be included in the festivities.
The Congress Hall offers valet parking free of charge for wedding guests.
nothing better than an open bar...that goes without saying....
but if im reading that correctly i can literally go in jeans and a wes hopkins jersey right?
and no sit down dinner...which im assuming means no assigned seats?
Cape May is awesome. I love it down there. And Congress Hall is in a good spot on the promenade too.
grassy courtyards are all the rave.
i hate the offseason
i mean can you wear whatever you want tho?
obviously not a jersey...but im thinking khakis and a polo?
i never been that far south on the shore phreak....you been to the actual place...congress hall...or you just know where it is

I know exactly where it is. Cape May has a promenade that is pretty long and the Hall is right there where most ofthe shops and stores are. So once the thing is over youll be close to bars and stuff like that to walk over to and continue the party.
I've been in there before but it was a long time ago. And from what I remember it was like a place where they have craft shows and stuff like that. It's pretty big, well it was the last time I was in there.
I'llbe going to Cape May this year. I'm tired of Delware becahes. My family has houses in Rehobath Beach and I am not a fan of it down there. So this year I'm going back to Jersey for a week. Cape May was our spot when I was a kid.
I went to a wedding in Cape May a few summers ago. I knew the couple getting married and one other dude. I got faced and spent a bunch of time in AC. Quality.
whats a promenade
be nice to get in some craft shopping in between VSOP's
ocean city md owns all beaches
A promenade is like a boardwalk. But instead of being all wood boards it is asphalt.
I love Cape May. Last time I brought the family back to the area for a visit I rented a house a few blocks from the beach.
It was teh awesomest!
isnt it crazy expensive to rent in cape may
Compared to Wildwood yes. Compared to Avalon, no.
so were you invited to this wedding or did you just find it on some website? i bet you just found it.
I think he openly stated he just found it by surfing and was joking about crashing it. It's understandable that you couldn't decipher that from the quasi-homey version of Ebonics he speaks, so don't feel bad about it.
Cape Gay.
someone had to say it.
interesting concept, you could drink and eat for free all summer long.

im all in it to win it
clint is best man
he'll be so handsome in his tuxedo
My parents are getting Married again for they're 25th anniversary in St Lucia at Sandals. We have something like 14 couples going down to the islands late march. Wedding attire is a bathing suit and linen shirts. I cant wait!
Hey.... that's better than celebrating their 30th anniversary by getting a divorce proceeding underway!

I'm gonna go ahead and give you a minute to realize the potential for disaster there.

5 hours is usually all night. Most 5-hour receptions close the bar during dinner and are really only open 3 1/2 or 4.
My reception had 5 hours of top shelf, and many people commented how nice it was to be able to get a drink during dinner. I went to a wedding in December, and the bar was closed during dinner AND closed IMMEDIATELY at 11:30pm. It was seriously weak-sauce. There were people IN LINE, and the hotel manager just abruptly shut the window. Totally lame.
If any of my friends ever get married without an open bar I'm going to loudly boo them throughout the ceremony.
From the nearest bar I can find.
i never understood the theory behind closing the bar during dinner

It saves a couple of dollars and makes sure people are likely seated when their dinner is served, or in the case of the wedding I attended a couple of months ago, when their table is called to hit up the buffet.
The best wedding I've ever been to had the ceremony in the same hotel ballroom as the reception. When you got there, you (or at least I did) started drinking immediately. When the ceremony was about to start, you got another drink or two to last through that formality. When the ceremony ended, you drank to your heart's desire.
I think I think it was the best because I didn't have to sneak a flask of whiskey in for the ceremony.
you couldn't wait an hour to start drinking? why the need to smuggle booze into the ceremony?
I hate weddings more than rjs loves the taterskins (which is obviously more than words can describe) so I drink before, during, and sometimes after.
gotcha
I suggest the ice tray
my mouth be lookin somethin like a crystal ball
great thing about this wedding is that there is no 'dinner'...thus no closing of the open bar....its on
I was in a wedding party once and the groom and groomsmen were stealing beer from the countryclub storage closet as people were being seated. Oh, and I love the taterskins. Obviously. shteinfaces.
i went to three weddings last summer, each with varying degress of barness...
the 1st one was totally dry, my cousins wedding, so i spent the time cracking up my other cousin (and horrifying my mom) with abortion/miscarrige jokes. little did I know my other cousin was pregnant.
the 2nd one was open beer, cash everything else, that was ok.
the 3rd one was totally open, and i was a groomsman, i was plaster 45 minutes into the recpetion on a constant intake of rum and cokes, good times.
I gave a best man speech with about 4 7&7's already down the chute. Best public speech of my life.
Yeah I gave my best man speech while I was in the bag as well. I shot from the hip for the whole speech and it was the best public speaking I've ever done. Hands down.
I love the taterskins so much I wanna dip my balls in them.

A buddy of mine once got married the same day as the NFL Draft. I was an usher in the wedding and ended up missing part of the reception because the Eagles pick was coming up. We went to a sports bar across the street from the hotel only to see the Eagles select Mike Mamula.
Ironically, Mamula tenure with the Eagles lasted longer than the dude's marriage.
I am only on my own cock. The rest of you can eat shtein and choke.
You mean "eat Arby's and choke."
Same thing as far as I can tell.

Which Sandals in St Lucia? We're going to the Grand St Lucian the old Hilton. Any tips? My parents have been to both Regency and St Lucian but its always good to get any other input.
Rjs was that a MTV's The State quote for Louie?
It was indeed. Wow. Didn't think anyone would recognize...
You plan your wedding AROUND the football season.
Any normal person knows this.
Supposedly MTV is releasing The State sometime this year but I've heard that for the past 3 years. I really want to see Medium Head Boy and No swimming for 45 minutes after Dinner. Maybe a little Zoo Action to watch the monkeys Do It. Friggin MTV has every god damned show they've put out over the past 10 years on DVD but not a great Sketch Comedy.
I got in my 1st Jersey bar fight down in Cape May.
someone just told me cape may was dry
is this true?
It's got a whole farging ocean surrounding it... it can't be that dry....
my idiot friend was wrong...he said ocean city is dry
still tho i didnt think any shore towns were dry

Ocean City is dry. Thats why you go to Circle Liquor before you cross the bridge.
I don't think Cape May is though.
dry in that you cant get packaged goods or dry as in no bars and no alcohol in restaurants
can not buy alcohol in any form.

You can, however, buy alcohol and bring it with you. Just don't get caught in public with it. Hotels, condos, etc. its cool to have booze.

yeah, just dont walk in the street with it and no one bothers you. my inlaws have a house in OC...we sit in the yard drinking all the time, no cop has ever said anything.
and conceal the container when on the beach and you're all set

Haven't been to OC in almost a decade but its funny to see that place is still running. They'll deliver in OC if you call with a big enough order. During senior week we ordered a bunch of beer from there, we had the oldest looking of us answer the door and hook the delivery dude up with a fat tip, they never carded him.
When I was a kid we used to vacation down to OC all the time, growing up, the parents always had parties with wine, beer, and heavy stuff, and I don't ever remember a problem. The only times I've seen cops get after someone is they deserved it. Now, I split a condo in Somers Point with my brothers, it's tucked back in a little marina, close enough to the beaches, but no worries about getting booze.
