Not big news, but now its public news.
Didn't the Texans assure Reggie Bush that he would be their #1 pick if he declared for the draft?
I saw Casserly interviewed on NFL Total Access, while he didn't say anything that a lot of people weren't already thinking, he was surprisingly candid about the Texans' situation and their thoughts about the draft. I would be surprised to see them trade out, but one thing that a lot of people don't realize is that even though they gave Carr an extension, they are in a pretty good position if they want to trade him in a package deal, or even straight up if they decide to go with Young.

They can basically still assure that. Either they will draft him and make it known that he will be their choice, or they will trade to another team that wants him badly.
Also, if Vince Young somehow ends up being their pick at #1 he will go down in history as the biggest bust ever. Book it.
No, that was a rumor out there, Romey. I think Pete Carroll tried to say it but Casserly denied it.
And if the Jets take Reggie Bush and not Matt Leinart then what I was saying awhile back about the Jets trading up to the #1 spot would come true. Although that would hurt the already miniscule chances we have of getting D'Brickashaw because HOU would take him at #4.
Cool. I wouldn't put it past a team to lie to a player, though.
If their interest really lies in getting better, Ferguson should be their pick, not Bush. They already have a good quarterback in Carr and a good running back in Davis. Drafting Bush instead of addressing a whopping deficiency on their team would be idiotic on their part.

Exactly. Even if they can't get anyone to trade with them they should draft Ferguson, which I've been saying for months. People need to listen to my unquestioned brilliance more often.
Domanick Davis is no Reggie Bush. They'd be retarded not to pick him and then for the next 10 years wondering what if...
Their team will not be improved in the slightest by drafting Bush. Even if he's the best player ever. They need someone to help keep their QB off his back and they have a good RB. Drafting Bush makes no sense for them.
You're right, getting the best player ever wouldn't improve your team. Makes perfect sense.
The Texans aren't going to sit around in FA though, they have a bunch of cap space, and the can solidify their O-line decently for one (Runyan will probably wind up there), and their is decent talent available in the later rounds of the draft and FA to shore up their defense. If they do what I expect them to do in FA, they'll draft Bush, no question.

Bush isn't the best player ever. And drafting someone that doesn't fill a need at the expense of possibly trading down and filling a number of holes on a team that has a ton of holes doesn't make any sense and doesn't make the team any better. The fact that they already have a ton of money tied up on their QB who has no protection, a RB who has run very well for them and a stud WR makes drafting Bush financially retarded as well.
If McNabb had gotten surgery in the preseason and the Eagles had gone 2-14 and Leinart or some other QB was rated as the best player coming out and a sure fire all star would it make any sense for the Eagles to draft him? No they have a QB that they are committed to who is good enough to help the team win games. They would be smart to trade down and fill the other gaping holes that they have. Same idea.

Just because you have Domanick Davis on your fantasy team doesn't make him a great back.
He's garbage. They need Reggie just as much as anyone.
I never had DD on my team. My team sucked hard, but not that hard.

:-D
My point, nerds, is that they can take several steps towards improving their team by drafting a number of quality players that fill needs OR they can improve themselves in one narrow area at a position that they already have an above average player. What makes more sense?
My wording was extreme, but the point is solid. Assfaces.
