Title: Blast From The Past-Chargers vs. Eagles
Post by: Tomahawk on February 18, 2006, 01:08:32 PM
They just showed the replay of this game on the NFL Network. It is now one of my favorite games in Eagles history. Sure the offense stunk the place up, but holding one of, if not the best, halfbacks in the league, LaDanlian Tomlinson to only 17 yards (or something like that) rushing is just absofarginglutely amotherfargingazing. That in conjunction with the Mikell block/Ware return on the field goal attempt and Brown stripping Caldwell makes this game memorable, to say the least.

I caught that too right after the Capital One skills challenge on ESPN. Excellent game, first tme actually seeing it, I listened to it on FieldPass which was awesome with Merril screaming his head off at the end. After watching it, I was more confused about this past season than before. How could the defense look that good against a seriously good Charger team, but suck nuts the rest of the season? It did give me a lot of hope going into '06 with everyone healthy though.

Merrill's call* (http://phaethon.homedns.org:58080/Amazing.mp3)

* Thanks to QB Eagles

thinking about the chargers and then the kansas city games...i get more pissed off about how the rest of the season went.

the 05 birds were just no goddamn fun outside of those 2 games.

This is the last Eagles game that I got to watch that was of any consequence before leaving for Basic.

That's what I originally thought, but then I talked myself out of it thinking there's no way that's humanly possible.

Thanks for the correction.

He was in the negatives most of the game. It was great to watch.

If I remember correctly... he was at something like -1 yard after 3 quarters.

Unbelievable.

I remember thinking L.T. was going to carve the Birds on up the ground, and that it would be a high scoring game. The Eagles offense sucked balls, but the defense was farging unreal.....turned out they actually were.....they never played like that again for the rest of the season.  :-\
