Quote(Richland) February 13, 2006 - Richland County investigators are trying to figure out how a professional football player lost $100,000 worth of jewelry in a Two Notch Road nightclub.
Former USC star and pro football player Duce Staley says he "lost" some highly valuable jewelry while he was getting roughed up by club security shortly after 4:00am Saturday at Studio 54.
According to the incident report from the Sheriff's Department, Staley says he had a VIP pass from management and was apparently trying to enter the club when he got into an argument with a security guard.
According to the report, one of the guards grabbed Staley by the throat. And it was then that Staley lost a bracelet and two diamond earrings, total value, $100,000.
Richland County Lieutenant Chris Cowan says the department is still trying to find out why a former Philadelphia Eagle and current member of the Super Bowl Champion Pittsburgh Steelers would be denied entry to the club, or how the jewelry could have been taken off Staley and simply disappear, "I know there was a bracelet that was involved which I would assume would be easy to come off during some kind of physical altercation. I don't know how the jewelry was secured to his body, so I can't really comment on it."
Staley has a home in Cayce. WIS tried to reach him by phone, but the man who answered hung up twice. And the club's owners were not available for comment.
Cowan describes Studio 54 as a "Gentlemen's Club," featuring women dancers. He says it has not been a major trouble spot for the sheriff's department, "This is not one of our problem location clubs. We've worked with the management, the management has worked with us. We have taken reports of larceny from autos, in the parking lot. We do not have a significant amount of incidents that have occurred at that location."
The jewelry is an 8.5 inch platinum bracelet and the two earrings. It's missing, along with some of the details of Duce Staley's night out.

yeah, i typed that too fast. i suck.
Well, it is a local article from that area. So they call it USC.
Just like in Texas they call the University of Texas UT. The same as University of Tennessee is called.
Phreak, you didn't make that clear and I was confused, and scared.
double post
OSU - Oregon State University
Good thing no other states start with 'P'. Holla.
What has the world come to when a SB champ can't even get in the club to look and grab at a little ass?
So, does this imperil our planned Duce reclamation project?

QuoteSteelers | Staley changes his story
Thu, 16 Feb 2006 06:24:06 -0800
Joe Bendel, of the Tribune-Review, reports Pittsburgh Steelers RB Duce Staley has changed his story and is no longer claiming he was robbed. In an incident report given early Saturday morning, Feb. 11, Staley told investigators from the Richland County sheriff's department that he was grabbed around the throat and assaulted, causing him to lose two earrings and a bracelet worth a total of $100,000. Wednesday, Feb. 15, Staley offered an altered version. "I wasn't robbed, and I had my two earrings. I lost my bracelet, that's all. I had to file a police report in order to have it replaced by my insurance company."
No man should ever own any jewelry with the exception of a wedding ring and a watch.
