Might as well have it's own thread. There are usually a lot of these.......
QuoteJOHNSON THROWN IN THE TANK
Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson is in hot water, again, after allegedly threatening a police officer on Sunday.
Johnson was charged with aggravated assault and resisting arrest after showing high respect for an officer of the law by allegedly uttering the following: "You ain't the only one with a Glock. If it wasn't for your gun and your badge, I'd kick your ass."
We kind of like that one. It can be adapted to so many other scenarios, obviating the need to actually kick someone's ass.
"If it wasn't for the fact that you pay my salary, I'd kick your ass."
"If it wasn't for the fact that you gave birth to me, I'd kick your ass."
"If it wasn't for the fact that you can kick my ass, I'd kick your ass."
Alas, modern society now frowns not only on the actual kicking of asses, but also on threats to do the same.
The brouhaha occurred when an officer was ticketing a limo that was double parked (man, that sure sounds familiar). When the officer tried to arrest Johnson, he refused to be cuffed. He eventually got Maced, and was overpowered by a group of officers.
The bigger problem for Johnson, as we see it, is that he currently is on probation for charges of driving around with a gun in his car. Judges who give criminal defendants probation usually don't take kindly to this type of behavior, which means that Johnson's probation could be revoked -- and he'll end up behind bars.
Johnson also is subject to discipline pursuant to the league's Personal Conduct Policy. Our guess is that, upon receiving a letter from Paul Tagliabue informing him of the terms of his coming suspension, Johnson will say to himself, "If he wasn't the Commissioner, I'd kick his ass."
Johnson, a 2004 draft pick of the Bears, played in every game during the 2005 season, starting in four. He finished with 19 tackles, six assists, and five sacks.
My, I'm sure glad this fine, upstanding young man lives two blocks from my home.
Good idea for a thread.
Too bad about the neighborhood problem. Good luck with that.
Well, drunk, I almost went and carved an Eagles emblem in his lawn with Roundup two years ago before we played them. Kinda glad I wasn't too drunk.
That totally would have been worth getting arrested for...and if he caught you and beat you up, KA-CHING!!
Go to his house and tell him, "If you weren't a 300 lb NFL Defensive Tackle, I'd kick your ass."

Broncos' Williams pleads guilty to reduced charges
Associated Press
CASTLE ROCK, Colo. -- Denver Broncos linebacker D.J. Williams pleaded guilty to driving while ability impaired and was sentenced to a year of probation and 24 hours of community service.
Williams, Denver's top draft pick in 2004 out of Miami, entered his plea to the reduced charge on Wednesday, the Rocky Mountain News reported on its Web site Thursday. He had been charged with two counts of driving under the influence and weaving.
Reached by phone late Thursday, district attorney spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh said she was away from her office and could not release any information.
Sheriff's deputies arrested Williams on Sept. 23 as he returned home from a birthday party.
Williams said in October that he was embarrassed, and he should have asked someone else to drive him home.
As part of the plea agreement, the 23-year-old Williams must also pay court costs and fines, and attend a victim impact panel.
Broncos spokesman Paul Kirk said the team had no comment.
Williams played in all 16 games last season, starting 14 and recording 44 solo tackles. He also had seven tackles in Denver's 27-13 playoff win over the New England Patriots.

Hall of Fame DE Carl Eller arrested for DUI[/size]
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Associated Press
MINNEAPOLIS -- Hall of Famer Carl Eller was arrested for driving under the influence early Sunday morning, according to the state patrol.
A trooper stopped the former Minnesota Vikings' star in suburban Golden Valley after clocking Eller going 97 mph in a 55 mph zone on westbound Interstate 394 around 3:30 a.m., said Lt. Chuck Walerius with State Patrol's West Metro office.
The trooper also saw Eller making a lane change and taking an exit ramp without signaling, Walerius said.
Field sobriety tests indicated that the 64-year-old Eller was driving while impaired, so he was taken to Minneapolis police's chemical testing facility, Walerius said.
Eller refused blood alcohol tests there and was held in the Hennepin County jail until he was bailed out in the afternoon. He was charged with fourth-degree driving under the influence, a misdemeanor, Walerius said.
KSTP-TV, which first reported the arrest, said the bail was $500.
Eller was inducted into the Pro Football Hall of Fame in the summer of 2004. He retired in 1979 after 16 NFL seasons. He was a five-time All-Pro who played in six Pro Bowls and four Super Bowls.
Eller was an admitted former substance abuser who became a drug counselor in Minneapolis. Walerius said Eller's driving record appeared to be clean. The case was turned over to Golden Valley city attorney's office for prosecution, he said.
A message left by The Associated Press on Eller's cell phone Sunday night was not immediately returned.

QuotePaxson charged with sexual assault
Daily Staff and Wire Reports
STATE COLLEGE, Pa. - Former Penn State defensive lineman Scott Paxson was arrested yesterday and charged with sexual assault and two counts of indecent assault, university police said.
The arrest stemmed from an incident that occurred in his apartment on Dec. 15, 2004. Paxson was arrested at his apartment, university police said.
No further details about the incident were immediately available.
Paxson, from Roman Catholic High School, was a first-team defensive lineman on the Daily News All-City team in 2000.
A senior, Paxson finished his last year of eligibility this past season as Penn State finished 11-1 and defeated Florida State in the Orange Bowl.
He was released on $150,000 bail, and a preliminary hearing was scheduled for next week. He did not immediately return a phone message to the Associated Press seeking comment.
Paxson sat out spring drills in 2005 while the university's judicial affairs department looked into the allegations.
Athletic department spokesman Jeff Nelson said yesterday that the charges are similar to the ones brought last spring and that Paxson was cleared by judicial affairs.
Centre County District Attorney Michael Madeira said that the delay in charges being filed was due in part to assistant prosecutors in the office waiting to consult with Madeira, who took office in January.
Madeira was elected in November. He replaced Ray Gricar, who disappeared last April. In the time since, first assistant prosecutor Mark Smith was the acting district attorney.
In September 2003, Paxson pleaded guilty to summary charges of criminal mischief and riding a bicycle without a headlight. Prosecutors agreed to drop charges of receiving stolen property as part of a plea agreement.
Last April, criminal mischief charges were dropped against Paxson after an incident that allegedly also involved three teammates earlier in the year in which arrows were shot through a dormitory wall.

Taylor Trial Postponed
By Jason La Canfora
Washington Post Staff Writer
Friday, March 3, 2006; 12:30 PM
Washington taterskins safety Sean Taylor's trial on felony assault charges was postponed until April 10, after a hearing this morning in Miami. The case, which has been continued several times since Taylor's arrest in June, had been scheduled for March 20.
Taylor, who faces three counts of felony assault with a firearm, recently hired two attorneys to join his legal team, and that trio met with prosecutor Mike Grieco to discuss the case. At that time Taylor's lawyers requested a continuance based on their newness to the case, which was granted, according to Richard Sharpstein, who is representing Taylor along with Edward Carhart and Larry Handfield. Sharpstein said there is a strong possibility the legal team could meet with Grieco next week to discuss possible deals that would preclude the need for a trial, but is prepared for court as well.
"We look forward to trial and we look forward to proving Sean's innocence and getting him back on the football field where he belongs," Sharpstein said.
Taylor, a key starter who was drafted fifth overall in 2004, skipped the taterskins' offseason workout program last spring to remain in South Florida, where the arrest occurred. He has indicated to Coach Joe Gibbs that he will participate in the program this season. Players are expected to report to taterskins Park around the end of March, so a trial could conceivably keep Taylor away for a few days, but the bulk of the on-field work occurs later in the program.
Grieco, who increased the number of felony counts from one to three in January, has objected to the last several continuances in this case -- it was originally scheduled for September, then October, then January and March -- but has said repeatedly that he is prepared for trial whenever it begins.
What a farging joke. Newness? Like any average Joe (no farging pun intended) could get his case (where he/she is charged with threating/beating people with a pistol no less) postponed several times for anything similar to "Uh....my lawyer is new to the case." Hope the lock his ass up for a long time.

Detective Luis King asked him to step out of the car, but he ''refused by pulling away and tensing.'' Stallworth would not shut off the engine or get off his phone, police say. Officers charged him with resisting arrest without violence, cited him for the expired tag, towed the Bentley and took him to jail.
''Defendant then stated this was going to cost us a lot of money and that he would have our jobs. Defendant further stated he knew the chief of police and that we would be hearing from his lawyer.'' Stallworth could not be reached for comment. FYI, Beach chief Don De Lucca says he doesn't know him.

Police responding to a call in the 1400 block of Washington Avenue at 2:51 a.m. found Jones dancing with a female in front of the trendy Snatch Rock 'n' Roll Bar & Lounge, Miami Beach police spokesman Robert Hernandez said Monday.
Police said Jones was obstructing traffic in the northbound lanes, and officers ordered him to get off the street. He refused and was arrested at the scene.
Jones was taken to the station and was ''very apologetic,'' police said. The 28-year-old linebacker signed an affidavit with a promise to appear in court for arraignment.

Safety charged with drunken driving early Tuesday

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Vikings safety Willie Offord was arrested early Tuesday and charged with drunken driving, according to the Minnesota State Patrol.
Offord was stopped at 2:20 a.m. on westbound Interstate 394 in Golden Valley and charged with misdemeanor fourth-degree drunken driving, which means his blood alcohol level was less than 0.20, the Star Tribune reported.
Offord was booked into the Hennepin County Jail at 3:29 a.m. and released more than two hours later. He is scheduled to appear April 26 at Hennepin County Ridgedale Court.
The Vikings signed Offord, their special teams captain in 2005, to a two-year contract extension last month. He is rehabilitating a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee and was limited during a veteran minicamp this month.
The Vikings believe he will be healthy when training camp begins, and Offord could compete with free-agent acquisition Tank Williams for the starting strong safety job.
Neither the team nor Offord's agent, David Canter, returned telephone messages seeking comment from The Associated Press on Wednesday.

Over the weekend, soon-to-be Chicago Bears cornerback Ricky Manning Jr. — the Bears signed him just last week to an offer sheet the Panthers aren't likely to match — was arrested shortly after 3 a.m. Sunday in Los Angeles and charged with assault with a deadly weapon.
What happened, exactly? According to police reports ... well, we'll just say we're glad we went to bed early Saturday night.
According to [LAPD officers], Manning was in a group that attacked a man in a Denny's restaurant after teasing him for working on a laptop computer.
"The group began by making comments that the victim looked like a geek or a nerd," Lewis said.
The victim asked the group to stop and then complained to a Denny's manager before someone in the group punched him in the face. He then was punched and kicked by multiple attackers until losing consciousness, Lewis said.
Frankly, we're as surprised as you that it wasn't us involved in the incident, though, to be fair, we wouldn't have complained to a manager; we would have just packed up the laptop and sprinted out the door. (Weeping, probably.) But in case any of you ever wondered what football players think of every single one of you ... this should sum it up.

More on Ricky Manning...
QuoteRicky Manning Jr. Will Bludgeon You, You Freaking Nerd
So he's making fun of nerds yet he wears this shirt, seems kinda ironic.
Ironic indeed; however, he was doing more than just making fun of nerds, which is an acceptable past-time.

QuoteNFL | Police and courts: Ford pleads guilty to shooting
Thu, 11 May 2006 13:41:06 -0700
Ken Ritter, of the Associated Press, reports former NFL PK Cole Ford plead guilty to shooting at the home of entertainers Siegfried Fischbacher and Roy Horn in 2004. Ford agreed to a felony plea that could lower his suspended sentence to one to six years in a Nevada prison, as long as he continues mental health treatment at a center in Tucson, Ariz. Clark County District Judge Jackie Glass ruled him incompetent to stand trial a year ago and rejected his attempts to plead guilty to the charges. Thursday, May 11, Glass deemed him competent and asked him if he understood the plea agreement, which will also require him to pay restitution and have no contact with Fischbacher or Horn. Ford plead guilty to shooting at a structure while several felony charges, including assault with a deadly weapon, were dismissed. Glass set sentencing for June 20, but he could be transferred to Tucson sooner if a suitable treatment center is found.
If I recall, he was pissed off about the way they treat the animals, or something perfectly reasonable like that.

TEXANS PLAYERS STUNG BY SCAM ARTIST
A 21-year-old Texas man has been charged with fleecing multiple victims out of millions of dollars.
And at least ten of his marks are members of the Houston Texans football team.
According to KTRX-TV, Darrick Moore has been arrested in connection with an investment scam that allegedly ensnared many people. Authorities claim that he operated from him home "a mortgage and auto loan scam" using "'straw buyers -- people he paid to use their credit to buy the homes or cars.'"
Texans safety Jason Simmons is one of the victims, and Simmons was at Moore's home when the fuzz hit the fan. "What are you going to do, arrest me too?" Simmons asked the law enforcement officials who arrived to retrieve Moore and to confiscate computers, file, and other items.
Simmons reportedly "invested" $450,000 in the operation.
Moore denies any wrondoing. "I'm a black guy who has helped a lot of ball players save a lot of money, invest a lot of money," he said. "And they can't deal with it." ???
Coincidentally, Moore is on parole for "engaging in organized criminal activity and also filing false information on a title application."

Warrant issued for arrest of DT Haynesworth
NFL.com wire reports
CARTHAGE, Tenn. (May 12, 2006) -- Tennessee Titans defensive tackle Albert Haynesworth was charged with reckless endangerment after being accused of trying to run a car off the highway.
The Smith County sheriff said May 12 a warrant for the player's arrest was issued after James J. Bond filed a police report.
Bond told police that Haynesworth on May 7 swerved, sped and attempted to pass a car driven by Bond's mother-in-law on the shoulder of Interstate 40, about 45 miles east of Nashville, Smith County Sheriff Johnny Bane said.
"The affidavants feared for their lives and felt they were in danger, as well as other drivers around them," he said.
No officer was present at the scene, and the warrant was issued after authorities investigated Bond's report, Bane said.
He said police have spoken with Haynesworth's attorney, who told them the player will surrender on the charges soon. He will face $1,000 bail.
Neither the Tennessee Titans nor Haynesworth's agent, Chad Speck, immediately returned calls from The Associated Press.

This Is What Happens When You Brawl On A Pecan Farm
Well, you don't see stories like this one every day. Let's see if we can piece together the progression of things that happened to Texas running back Ramonce Taylor this weekend, according to this from CBS SportsLine.com wire reports:
• Police are called in response to a fight involving as many as 100 people.
• The fight was taking place on a pecan farm in Little River, Texas.
• Ramonce Taylor, running back for the defending national champion Texas Longhorns, was the one who called police.
• Officers at the fight scene say that Taylor was involved in the fight, left, and threatened to return to the fight with his gun.
• Taylor feels the handcuffs go on.
• Taylor gives police permission to search his vehicle.
• Police find a live round of ammunition.
• Police find over five pounds of marijuana in a backpack.
See, life's a little different on the pecan farms. It's not like your cushy suburban existance. The cats on the pecan farm are hard. Oh, and possession of marijuana over five pounds is a second-degree felony, by the way, which is punishable by up to 20 years in the joint. Uh-oh.

Nate Newton plays last for Carolina, gets busted for hundreds of pounds of grass. Derek Ross is from South Carolina, gets busted for a pretty decent amount himself. Is there something in the air in hurricane country that breeds pot trafficking?
Ex-NHS standout gets four years
Former Northwestern High School football star Derek Ross, who later played in the NFL, was sentenced to four years in prison in Texas on Tuesday, according to prosecutors and court records.
Ross pleaded guilty to jumping bail after a drug arrest last year, prosecutors said.
Yet Ross, 26, the 1997 South Carolina high school offensive player of the year as a quarterback, still faces drug trafficking charges in South Carolina that could get him as much as 30 years in prison if he's convicted.
One of the state's most sought-after recruits before graduating in 1998, Ross has had trouble with the law since high school. He was allowed to play in the Northwestern-Rock Hill High rival game in 1997, although he was arrested earlier that day on a shoplifting charge. Ross has a conviction for failing to stop for a blue light and driving with a suspended license from 1998.
Probation from that incident was transferred to Ohio so he could attend Ohio State University. A defensive back, he was drafted by the Dallas Cowboys in 2002 then played with the Atlanta Falcons in 2004.
Ross, whose address in Texas court records was listed as 238 Epting St., Rock Hill, was charged with possession of between 5 and 50 pounds of marijuana in Texas on May 8, 2005, said Mike Trent, Harris County assistant district attorney and the chief prosecutor for the 209th District Court in Houston.
Around 20 pounds of marijuana was found in Ross' car after a traffic stop, Trent said. Ross posted $99,000 bond soon afterward, Trent said, but a warrant was issued for Ross' arrest after he did not show up for court in September.
"He failed to show; he was extradited and was in custody ever since," Trent said.
As part of the plea deal, the Texas drug charge was dropped, Trent said. A felony conviction for bail jumping in Texas carries a range of two to 10 years, Trent said. The drug charge also carried a two- to 10-year range for a conviction.
Ross will serve his sentence in the Texas Department of Corrections, said Jennifer Green of the Harris County District Clerk Office.
Ross did not comment during Tuesday's plea, Trent said. John Denninger, Ross's court-appointed lawyer in Houston, could not be reached Tuesday.
Former Northwestern assistant coach Bobby Carroll, now head coach at South Pointe High School, said he hasn't seen Ross since Ross graduated in 1998. But he said Ross was one of the greatest players ever in Rock Hill.
Carroll said Ross' conviction is a tragedy because "that kid had the world at his fingertips."
However, Carroll said Ross has to pay the consequences for his actions.
"If he did it, he needs to serve his time," Carroll said.
Ross still faces drug charges in Oconee County, according to Oconee County prosecutors and court officials. He was arrested by the Oconee County Sheriff's Office in August on charges of trafficking marijuana and conspiracy to traffic marijuana. The car Ross was driving on Interstate 85 had 25 pounds of marijuana in it, according to police reports. That case against Ross is still pending, according to officials with the Oconee County Clerk of Court Office and the 10th Circuit Solicitor's Office In Walhalla.
The prosecutor handling the Oconee County charges, Lindsey Simmons, could not be reached Tuesday.
Ross is the second Trojan football star from that era to be convicted of a crime in the past month. Marco Hutchinson, who played at the University of South Carolina, is awaiting sentencing after a federal jury found him guilty of robbing a Columbia bank last year.

QuoteDREW'S ARREST KEPT UNDER WRAPS PRE-DRAFT
Kudos to everyone involved in keeping under wraps the arrest of UCLA running back Maurice Drew only six days before the April 29 draft.
Including, apparently, the relevant law enforcement authorities.
As it turns out, Drew was busted with Bears corner Ricky Manning, Jr. on April 23 after a man allegedly had the crap beat and/or kicked out of him at a Denny's restaurant in Westwood, the site of the UCLA campus. Previous reports indicated that the incident was sparked after a group of men started to make fun of the alleged victim for working on a laptop.
We're also assuming that the media was in some way complicit in keeping Drew's pre-draft arrest under wraps, given that the AP story announcing the fact that Drew has been charged with assault grossly glosses over the fact that Drew was originally arrested at the same time that Manning got busted.
Word of Drew's potential involvement was churning through the NFL rumor mill in the days preceding the draft, but the prevailing school of thought was that Drew had nothing to do with the incident.
The end result? Drew was drafted in round two, by the Jaguars. He most likely would have gone later if the arrest had been disclosed.
The winners? Drew, obviously. But another guy who'll make out is the alleged victim, since he'll now likely be able to get even more money from Drew through the civil justice system for injuries sustained as a result of the incident.
As I said in another thread today, jocks suck.

QuoteDenver Broncos quarterback Jake Plummer was ticketed for destruction of property for an alleged road-rage confrontation with another motorist last month, Englewood police said Tuesday.
"It was unsportsmanlike conduct," said the alleged victim, Doug Stone, of the quarterback's behavior on April 20.
"I know he's under a lot of pressure, and he just has a lot of competition now," said Stone, referring to first-round draft pick Jay Cutler, the Vanderbilt quarterback selected two days after the alleged incident.
Englewood police issued a summons Friday to Plummer at his Cherry Hills Village home.
According to a news release, police said Plummer's Honda Element had rear-end damage that was consistent with the damage sustained by the Ford Ranger truck driven by Stone.
Stone said the confrontation occurred when he was driving west on West Hampden Avenue and he saw the driver of a gray Honda snaking through traffic and cutting off three other motorists. As the traffic approached South Downing Street, Stone said, the Honda driver cut in front of him.
When they reached the red light at Downing, Stone said the Honda had stopped ahead of him.
"I laid on my horn to give him notice I didn't appreciate him cutting me off as he did the other drivers that I had witnessed," Stone, 47, said.
Stone's honking apparently set off the other driver.
"He had jumped out of his car and kicked my truck and said, 'Stay off my a--,' " Stone recalled. "And he jumped back in his Honda, put his Honda in reverse and backed into my truck. He tried pushing me backward."
When the light turned green, the driver sped away. Stone said that after the confrontation he decided to pull off the highway, where he was joined by a witness who had copied down the license-plate number of Plummer's Honda. Stone then called the police to report the incident.
Stone said he did not recognize Plummer as the man who was behind the wheel and who kicked his truck until he saw a police report identifying the quarterback as the alleged culprit. A big reason for that was that Plummer no longer had his game beard on.
"I thought the guy was about 19 or 20 years old, and he lived with his parents," Stone said.
Plummer, 31, who was driving with his girlfriend as a passenger, denied any wrongdoing and claimed Stone hit his Honda from behind, Stone said.
Stone said that had he known the Broncos quarterback was the Honda driver he would not have honked at him.
"I think he's an all-around good person from the things I heard and the way he conducts himself in his hometown and in Denver," Stone said.
Neither Plummer nor his agent could be reached for comment late Tuesday.

QuoteBrowns running back Droughns turns self in to face domestic violence charge
CENTENNIAL, Colo. (AP) -- Cleveland Browns running back Reuben Droughns surrendered to authorities Wednesday for a night in jail after being charged with domestic violence.
The 27-year-old Droughns was being held without bond until a court hearing Thursday morning, Arapahoe County sheriff Patrol Capt. Mark Fisher said.
Fisher said Droughns faces misdemeanor charges of third-degree assault and harassment for an incident in this suburb south of Denver that happened May 12, three days after a jury in Medina, Ohio, acquitted him of drunken driving.
Fisher said Droughns had left the scene before sheriff's deputies arrived. Droughns turned himself in and was arrested after deputies contacted him through his attorney.
Details of the incident were not provided by authorities. Neither Droughns' agent, Drew Rosenhaus, nor Browns spokeswoman, Amy Palcic, returned messages left after hours.
Droughns, who signed a three-year contract extension with the Browns earlier this year, rushed for 1,232 yards last season on 309 carries, scoring two touchdowns. He was traded to Cleveland from Denver in March 2005.
Earlier this month, a jury decided Droughns was not impaired by alcohol when an Ohio State Patrol trooper pulled him over Nov. 1. A breath test showed Droughns had an alcohol level of 0.08, the state's legal limit.
Droughns was charged with failing the Breathalyzer test, driving under the influence and traveling 50 mph in a 35-mph zone.
Droughns and his wife, Kellie, disputed the trooper's testimony that Droughns was weaving, and Droughns said he was unfamiliar with the speed limit in the area. Droughns said he drank three cocktails at a Halloween party that night.
Didn't see this posted.
QuoteDENVER -- Former NFL running back and Super Bowl record-holder Timmy Smith was sentenced in federal court Friday to 2½ years in prison for conspiring to distribute cocaine.
Smith, 42, apologized to the state of Colorado during a hearing before U.S. District Judge Lewis Babcock. "I have made a mistake and I wasn't raised this way," he said.
Babcock said the former football player had been respected at his job as a security guard at a juvenile detention center. "You were leading a Jekyl and Hyde lifestyle," he said.
The former Washington taterskins running back was arrested last fall along with his younger brother, Christopher, after the pair sold about $20,000 worth of cocaine to undercover agents with the U.S. Drug Enforcement Administration.
Timmy Smith pleaded guilty in March to the conspiracy charge after federal prosecutors agreed to drop eight additional cocaine-trafficking counts in exchange for the guilty plea.
Christopher Smith pleaded guilty to a lesser charge of aiding and abetting and was sentenced this month to five years of probation.
In January 1988, Smith rushed for a Super Bowl-record 204 yards in the taterskins 42-10 rout of the Denver Broncos. He last played for the Dallas Cowboys in 1990.

Joe Bendel, of the Tribune-Review, reports Pittsburgh Steelers rookie WR Santonio Holmes has given his account of his arrest in Miami Beach, Florida. Holmes said Saturday night, May 27, that he was on his way from a bar/restaurant in Miami Beach early Saturday and stepped off the sidewalk to avoid a gathering of people. A police officer yelled at him, Holmes said. A report written by the arresting officer said Holmes was obstructing traffic. Holmes said he asked the officer why he yelled at him, and he was immediately placed under arrest. The police report said Holmes was not cooperative with police after being warned to get off of the street on Collins Avenue. "I observed the defendant walking in the middle of the road obstructing traffic. I gave the defendant a verbal order to get out of the street and the defendant began to say several offensive words and he refused to get out of the street. The defendant's actions caused a crowd to form and traffic to come to a stop. Defendant arrested." A date for Holmes to appear in court for his arraignment has not been set.

Droughns out on bail for assault
Browns running back allegedly threw wife out door
Posted: Friday May 26, 2006 1:05PM
Updated: Friday May 26, 2006 3:11PM
LITTLETON, Colo. (AP) -- A sheriff's report alleges Cleveland Browns running back Reuben Droughns threw his wife out the door of their home after she said she wanted a divorce.
Droughns, 27, was released on $2,500 bail Thursday on one count of assault and two counts of harassment. He surrendered to police the day before and spent the night in jail.
The arrest report said Kellie Droughns' right arm was hurt in the May 12 incident at the home in the south Denver suburb of Centennial. The report said she called her mother in Texas, who then called the sheriff's department.
Droughns' attorney, Harvey Steinberg, did not immediately return a call Friday.
Kellie Droughns had no listed phone number. Her name is redacted in the report but she has been publicly identified as Droughns' wife.
The arrest report said the couple were arguing when he "grabbed (her) and threw her to the ground. She got up and Reuben grabbed her by the waist, carried her to the bed and threw her on the bed."
That was when she told Droughns she wanted a divorce, the report said.
Droughns then carried her on his shoulders to the house's front door, where she flung her arms out in an attempt to avoid being thrown out, the document said. Droughns threw her outside, closed and locked the door, the report said.
He eventually let her back in, but then left the house with his wife's wedding ring, her credit cards and cash, the report said.
The report said a child lives in the home with the couple but did not say whether the child was present at the time.
Droughns faces six to 18 months in jail if convicted of assault and up to six months in jail if convicted of harassment. Bail conditions allow him to leave the state before his next court appearance on July 6, district attorney's spokeswoman Kathleen Walsh said.
Browns officials have said in a statement they are aware of the case and were taking it seriously, but had no other comment. His agent has not returned calls.
Droughns, who played for the Denver Broncos until a 2005 trade, signed a three-year extension with the Browns this year. He rushed for 1,232 yards and two touchdowns on 309 carries last season.
Earlier this month, a jury acquitted Droughns of drunken driving charges, finding he was not impaired by alcohol when a State Highway Patrol trooper stopped him Nov. 1 in Medina in northeast Ohio.

Nicholson and former Florida State WR Fred Rouse, who was dismissed by head coach Bobby Bowden at the end of last season for detrimental conduct, are charged with burglarizing the Tallahassee home of current Florida State RB Lorenzo Booker May 20 or 21. A warrant is out for the arrest of Nicholson, who faces felony charges of burglary of a dwelling and grand theft and criminal mischief, which is a misdemeanor. QuoteSeahawks' Fisher faces assault charge
By José Miguel Romero
Seattle Times staff reporter
Seahawks defensive end Bryce Fisher has been charged with fourth-degree assault, stemming from an apparent domestic dispute with his wife. He appeared in Kirkland Municipal Court for a pretrial hearing on Wednesday.
Fisher, 29, was arrested and booked soon after an argument early on the morning of April 11 during which police were called, necessitating a mandatory arrest. The Renton native "cooperated fully," said his lawyer, Bill Bowman, and Fisher was arraigned later in the day.
A police report obtained by The Associated Press said Fisher twisted his wife's arm behind her back during the dispute.
"This caused her pain since she had surgery on her right wrist in July 2005 to repair a torn tendon," the report stated.
The report also said the couple had been struggling for control of Fisher's cellphone after his wife confronted him with allegations that Fisher was having an affair.
Bowman said the pretrial hearing will resume on Dec. 6 in Kirkland Court after the defense was granted a continuance on Wednesday. Bowman said he expects a resolution to the matter by that time.
The Seahawks would not comment on the matter, which is still being investigated. Fourth-degree assault is a gross misdemeanor charge in Washington state.
Fisher has been one of the Seahawks at the forefront of the team's goodwill and good-character campaign, being a local product and fan favorite.
A captain in the Washington Air National Guard, he recently toured American military installations in Afghanistan and the Middle East as part of an NFL-sponsored trip.
Another Seahawks player, right tackle Sean Locklear, is scheduled to be in court on June 13 for the beginning of his domestic assault trial. Locklear pleaded not guilty in Seattle Municipal Court on Jan. 17.
He was arrested two days before that outside a Seattle nightclub after witnesses told police that Locklear had grabbed his female companion by the neck.

June was a backup in 11 games as a rookie in 2003. He started every game in 2004 and blossomed last season in his second year as a starter. He had 109 tackles, third-most on the team, returned two interceptions for touchdowns and was voted to the Pro Bowl.
He signed a new contract in April for one year at $1.57 million.
NEW WARRANT ISSUED FOR CHRIS HENRY

WCPO-TV reports that a warrant has been issued for the arrest of Bengals receiver Chris Henry, and that he is wanted for three counts of "unlawful transaction with a minor."
Per WKRC-TV, the charges arise from allegations that Henry provided alcohol to three underage females. The incident occurred at a party at a Covington, Kentucky hotel in April.

Troubled Bengals WR Henry turns self in on new charges
ESPN.com news services
Troubled Bengals wide receiver Chris Henry turned himself in late Wednesday afternoon on three counts of an unlawful transaction with a minor. Henry, who was accompanied by his attorney, Bob Lotz of Covington, is expected to be released later in the day on $2,500 bond.
The arrest warrant issued on Wednesday morning claims that Henry provided alcohol to three women all under the age of 21. One of the women is identified as Monica Beamon, 18, and the others are cited as unnamed 15- and 16-year-olds. The criminal affidavit charges that all three women were in Henry's car when he provided them alcohol, with the knowledge that all were under the legal drinking age of 21.
The alleged incident occurred on April 29. On the morning of April 30, Covington Police were called to a local hotel, where Beamon told investigators that Henry had raped her. Based on inconsistencies in her story, and a follow-up investigation, it was determined no rape had taken place and Henry was not charged with any crime at the time. An arrest warrant for Beamon was issued on Wednesday morning, charging her with filing a false police report.
The Bengals had no comment Wednesday, the Cincinnati Enquirer reported.
"We don't comment on something when it's just in the stages of charges," Bengals public relations director Jack Brennan told the newspaper.
Henry had already been arrested three times since December and is subject to league sanctions under the terms of the NFL personal conduct policy.
Henry most recently was charged with speeding and drunken driving earlier this month.
In that incident, Henry registered a blood-alcohol content of 0.092 on a breath test and was clocked at 82 miles per hour in a 65-mph zone, said Sgt. Craig Cvetan, a State Highway Patrol spokesman. The legal limit is 0.08.
Henry was charged in January with pulling a pistol on a group of revelers in downtown Orlando. He pleaded not guilty to a charge of carrying a concealed weapon and is set for trial Aug. 21.
He avoided jail time on marijuana charges from a December arrest in Kentucky after pleading guilty and agreeing to enter a drug rehabilitation program.
Henry had 31 catches for 422 yards and six touchdowns as a rookie last season, when he developed into the Bengals' No. 3 receiver behind Chad Johnson and T.J. Houshmandzadeh.

While your statement was obviously of a facetious nature, I think it was simply in regard to his character. I'd contend that he's not a Reid type of guy solely on the fact that he's a WR with a lot of talent that could actually improve the offense when on the field. Andy doesn't like bringing those kinds of guys in.

It's been fun to watch Pittsburgh's opinion of Santonio Holmes change from "best player in the the NFL draft, an amazing steal" to "embarrassment to the city" over the last few months.
Intersting notes on "Santurdio" from PFT.com:
Quote
POSTED 11:59 p.m. EDT, June 23, 2006
SANTURDIO ON "THIN ICE"
A source with knowledge of the Pittsburgh Steelers' current attitude toward first-round draft pick Santurdio tells us that the former Ohio State wideout is on "thin ice" with the team.
Though the source didn't elaborate, we interpret this to mean that, if Santurdio screws up one more time before he signs his rookie contract, the team will wash its hands of him.
Another possible strategy for the team would be to stand on the requisite one-year tender for the rookie minimum of $275,000, which every club must extend to every draft pick. If Santurdio refuses to sign it, he can sit out the season and then re-enter the draft.
And that might be a better approach than merely cutting him, since Santurdio likely would end up being claimed via waivers or signed as a free agent if the Steelers wash their hands of him.
Santurdio's best approach, in our view, is to get his contract signed. Now. The only problem is that he's represented by Joel "Escargot" Segal, who refuses to sign any of his first-round clients until the guy immediately in front of his client and the guy immediately behind him has signed.
Of course, the fact that Segal represents Santurdio could be the reason for the team's current stance, since that might get Segal to the table sooner rather than later.
Over/Under on Holmes catching 20 balls this season with the Steelers? I'll take the under.
"Santurdio" might be the least creative and most unfunny nickname ever.
Got a better suggestion, pal?
I've got a suggestion. 'Journalists' (and people in general) could stop using name-puns to cover up the fact that they have no sense of humor and just report the farging news.
Huh? No. Reeealy? Well, that's not mine.

The New Orleans Times-Picayune reports New England Patriots DL Johnathan Sullivan was arrested Sunday morning, June 25, and charged with possession of marijuana, a seat belt violation, running two stop signs and playing loud music in Griffin, Ga., according to police reports. The police report said officer, M.G. Bowman first asked Sullivan if there were any weapons in the car, and after Sullivan said yes, Bowman retrieved a handgun. Bowman then asked Sullivan and passenger Tamarco Clemons if there was anything illegal in the car, and Sullivan and Clemons said no. Sullivan granted Bowman permission to search the car, where Bowman retrieved the bag that was found to contain less than an ounce of marijuana, which Sullivan and Clemons claimed was not their property. They were later released on signature bonds.

QuoteSuit: NBA Player Watching Porn, Drunk Before Crash
Claim Targets Minnesota Timberwolves' Eddie Griffin
(CBS) MINNEAPOLIS On March 30, Minnesota Timberwolves center Eddie Griffin was drunk and masturbating when he crashed his luxury SUV into a parked Suburban outside a store in Minneapolis, according to a lawsuit filed Thursday by the man whose Suburban was hit in the crash.
WCCO-TV obtained copies of 911 calls and store surveillance video of the incident, along with an accident report the police submitted to the state, reports WCCO-TV's Caroline Lowe.
Several of the 911 callers that night said Griffin was drunk. One witness said Griffin told him he was watching pornography in a DVD player mounted on the dashboard of his Cadillac Escalade SUV when he struck a Chevy Suburban parked on University Avenue Southeast.
The location where Griffin crashed is located a couple miles from the Target Center where Griffin had played with his team several hours earlier.
Abed Hassuneh, who is the brother of the victim, said Griffin told him, "That he was masturbating himself going down that street. That's how the accident happened because he was not paying attention. He's paying attention to that video and all of a sudden he's shoveled somebody's car on the top of the sidewalk."
Interim Minneapolis Police Chief Tim Dolan ordered an internal affairs investigation of the conduct of the two officers who responded to the scene, after WCCO-TV made Dolan aware of allegations about the incident.
Key questions are why Griffin wasn't tested for alcohol and why the officers drove him out of the city to his home in St. Paul. Griffin also received tickets for not having a license and inattentive driving.
Griffin's damaged SUV was towed to the Minneapolis impound lot.
Dolan told WCCO-TV he expects impartial policing. Dolan also said officers must get permission to leave the city.
"Obviously, if somebody is drunk and they are driving we want that dealt with by the police officers of Minneapolis," Dolan said.
In the video, Griffin can be heard pleading with witnesses to not call police saying, "I can't go to jail."
The video also shows Griffin admitting he is drunk and doesn't have a driver's license.
The video shows him struggling for minutes to put on his sweatshirt and offering to buy a car for the man who's SUV he crashed into in front of Santana Foods.
Griffin was not available for comment. When he was interviewed by reporters after the crash happened, he said he had dropped his cell phone as he drove.
The two officers involved in the incident, Daniel Anderson and Matthew Lindquist, have been with the Minneapolis Police Department since October 2001. The officers remain on duty pending the outcome of the internal investigation.

QuoteBARRETT BROOKS BUSTED
WTAE-TV in Pittsburgh reports that Steelers offensive lineman Barrett Brooks was arrested early Sunday morning after running two red lights (or stop signs -- we can't remember that specific detail of the report) and then attempting to elude police officers.
Amazingly, there is no report of the incident on the Internet, yet.
The arrest is the latest in a spate of offseason troubles by players on teams in the AFC North. Several Bengals have been arrested, Steelers receiver Santurdio has been busted twice, and Browns running back Reuben Droughns was nailed for domestic abuse allegations only days after being acquitted on DUI charges.
Also, Steelers quarterback Ben Roethlisberger wrecked his face into a car in June, and Ravens linebacker Roderick Green recently was stabbed outside a bowling alley.
The Steelers are in training camp in Latrobe, Pennsylvania, but were given Sunday off.
Brooks has spent three season with the Steelers, and 11 overall in the NFL. He appeared in 16 games last season, but had no starts. Originally a second-round draft pick of the Eagles in 1995, Brooks is under contract through 2006 at a salary of $810,000.

Maurice Clarett sits in the back of a police cruiser.
Former Ohio State University running back Maurice Clarett was stopped early this morning after a freeway chase on the East Side. Loaded weapons were found in his vehicle.
Police said that Clarett resisted arrest and was wearing a bullet-proof vest that frustrated attempts to use a taser on him.
WBNS-10TV reported that police initially tried to stop Clarett around 2:30 a.m. for making a U-turn on Brice Road. Clarett then led police on a chase on I-70 to Rt. 256 in Pickerington. Clarett then got back on I-70 westbound, where tire spikes were used to slow his vehicle.
Clarett exited the freeway at Brice Road, where he was finally stopped and arrested in a restaurant parking lot.
Police said they found three handguns and an assault rifle in the vehicle. All the weapons were loaded, and additional ammunition was discovered in the vehicle. Police said they also found a half-empty bottle of vodka in the vehicle.

NFL.com wire reports
NASHVILLE, Tenn. (Aug. 13, 2006) -- Tennessee defensive tackle Randy Starks missed the Titans' exhibition opener after turning himself in following a charge that he assaulted his fiancee.
Starks had been slated to start against New Orleans, but Titans coach Jeff Fisher said after the 19-16 loss that he had dismissed the two-year veteran from the game.
"I told Randy there was no place for him here as far as being a part of the team tonight. What follows is a legal issue. Anything is between him and the club. I just felt it was best he did not participate with his teammates," Fisher said.
Don Aaron, a spokesman for Metro Nashville Police, didn't immediately answer messages left by The Associated Press.
WTVF-TV in Nashville reported that Starks turned himself into police about 90 minutes before kickoff after being charged with beating his 25-year-old fiancee at their home earlier in the day. The station cited a police report that said the woman lost some fingernails in the scuffle and had her head banged against a wall.
Starks was released after posting a $2,000 bond. He turns 23 in December and is the youngest of the returning Titans. He has played in 32 games, including 24 starts.

Lions DL coach arrested for driving drunk and naked (http://msn.foxsports.com/nfl/story/5941726)
QuoteDetroit Lions assistant coach Joe Cullen has encountered legal trouble for, among other things, allegedly driving without clothes.
According to a report in Wednesday's Detroit Free Press, Cullen, who was hired by first-year head coach Rod Marinelli to coach the team's defensive line, has been arrested twice in the past two weeks.
The first arrest, on Aug. 24, was for alleged indecent and obscene conduct. The second, on Sept. 1, was for alleged drunk driving. Both occurred in Dearborn, MI.
Cullen did not respond to a Free Press reporter's request for a comment, but later issued a statement through the team. "I would like to apologize to the Detroit Lions organization, our fans, my family and friends for any embarrassment these incidents have caused. These incidents represent a mistake in judgment on my part. I deeply regret them and have learned a valuable lesson. It won't happen again."
In the nude-driving incident, the description on the police ticket read "driving on a public street without any clothes on. (NUDE)." In the drunk-driving incident, Cullen's blood-alcohol level was reportedly 0.12, above the Michigan legal limit of .08.

WEXFORD, Pa. (AP) -- Two dogs owned by Pittsburgh Steelers linebacker Joey Porter got off his fenced property and killed a miniature horse on a nearby farm, leading to citations that carry several hundred dollars in potential fines.
Porter's dogs, a pit bull and a mastiff, got loose Tuesday and killed the horse that was less than three feet tall. The dogs were still in the dead horse's corral when police and animal control officials arrived, Northern Regional Police Chief Bob Amann said.
Porter helped police get the dogs off the property and back to his home. Because Porter's yard is fully fenced, police did not know how the dogs got loose.
"It was an accident and I am not sure how the dogs escaped," Porter said in a statement. "I have reached out to the owners of the horse and will do whatever I can to help them get through this very unfortunate situation."
The horse's owners have so far declined comment.
Porter was cited Thursday for harboring dangerous dogs, failure to confine the dogs, and failure to have the dogs licensed. The fines carry several hundred dollars in potential fines.
Porter said he raised the dogs as pets and not as attack animals and plans to send them to a kennel in California for safe keeping.
Porter lives in Pine Township, north of Pittsburgh, but officials with the Northern Regional Police said Porter's dogs were licensed in his hometown of Bakersfield, California, not in Allegheny County.

Thurman busted in OVI check
Bengals linebacker Odell Thurman was arrested at 3:05 a.m. today and charged with driving under the influence of alcohol.
Thurman was arrested in the 3800 block of Kellogg Avenue in the East End. He was brought to a checkpoint operated by the Cincinnati Police and Ohio State Patrol and submitted to a breath test.
Thurman registered a .17, which is considered a high-tier reading, said Officer Stephen Lawson of the Cincinnati Police Traffic Section.
Guess that 4 game suspension is about to get a little longer.
More about the Odell Thurman arrest...
QuoteA NEW TOUCHDOWN DANCE FOR CHRIS HENRY
It occurred to us while Bengals receiver Chris Henry was celebrating each of his two touchdown receptions on Sunday against the Steelers that a little humility might be in order, given that he has been arrested four times in less than a year, with three arrests coming during the offseason.
Yeah, the guy can play. But his antics screamed out to us that he really hasn't learned anything from his experiences, which also included facing a false accusation of rape made by a woman who has since allegedly killed someone.
So it now appears that Henry will have a new touchdown celebration in the future. Something based on a guy puking outside of a car window while the driver of the vehicle is being busted for DUI. As it turns out, he was perfecting that specific move early Monday.
Yep, as we predicted on a somewhat-tongue-in-cheek basis earlier on Monday, Henry was in the car with linebacker Odell Thurman. And Henry was vomiting through the window of the vehicle as Thurman was getting busted.
Under the circumstances, it's obvious that Henry was drinking as well, especially since Thurman has said that he was driving with a 0.17 blood alcohol content because the other guys were in even worse shape. (Of course, Henry is now likely to claim that he'd merely ingested some bad spinach during his post-game meal, and that he so overcome by E. coli that he had to let the drunk guy drive the car.) And our guess is that one of the terms of Henry's most recent probation for gun possession in Florida and/or his probation for marijuana possession in Kentucky.
Amazingly, Henry was not charged with public intoxication or any crime during the incident.
Also in the vehicle was Bengals rookie receiver Reggie McNeal, another guy whom we've previously heard has some turdish tendencies, but who had yet to involve himself in any embarrassing situations.
"I think for Odell, it's disappointing, for me, it's disappointing for our program, for all of our fans," coach Marvin Lewis said. "He just obviously doesn't understand the privilege and right to play in the National Football League. This will probably be dealt with very severely . . . no question by the league."
Lewis apparently made no statement about Henry's involvement in the situation.
You gotta love the team spirit of the Bengals. Some of them seem determined to wear the Bengals orange year-round.
This thread should really just be renamed to Bengals arrested in '06.
Or Future Raiders arrested in '06.

QuoteCHARGERS' SAFETY CHARGED
ESPN's Chris Mortensen reports that Chargers starting safety Terrence Kiel has been arrested on drug charges.
Kiel was charged with possession, possession for sale, and transportation of a controlled substance, per the report.
DEA agents arrived at the team's practice facility on Tuesday with an arrest warrant for Kiel. The authorities then searched Kiel and his car, and took him away. He was later released on $150,000 bond.
And, once again, Playmakers was a grossly unrealistic depiction of real life in the NFL.

QuoteORCHARD PARK, N.Y. (AP) -- Buffalo Bills rookie safety Donte Whitner faces a harassment charge after an alleged domestic dispute with his girlfriend, police said.
Whitner was arrested in the Buffalo suburb of Hamburg Saturday after police were called to his home in response to a fight with a woman, WGRZ-TV reported. He was arraigned on the violation and released on his own recognizance.
Whitner declined comment after practicing with the team Thursday.
Bills spokesman Scott Berchtold said in a statement the team was aware of the charge and was gathering the facts.
"The National Football league has a personal conduct policy that governs these types of situations and the Buffalo Bills will adhere to that policy if there is any truth to the accusation," Berchtold said.
Whitner is due in court Nov. 20. Hamburg Town Prosecutor Dennis Gaughan said the non-criminal offense is punishable by 15 days in jail and a fine of up to $250.
QuoteCowboy Marcus Coleman Arrested For DWI
Sources Say Team May Cut Player
(CBS 11 News) IRVING Dallas Cowboys player Marcus Coleman was arrested on a driving while intoxicated charge early Saturday morning and may be cut from the team.
According to Irving Police, the defensive back was stopped at 2:40 p.m. when officers saw him weaving while driving east bound on Highway 114 near Spur 348 in Irving.
"There were indications that the driver (Mr. Coleman) had been drinking," Irving PD spokesperson David Tull said in a release.
The 32-year-old posted the $500 bond by 8 a.m. Saturday. According to reports, he failed a field sobriety test during the traffic stop. His vehicle was impounded, but was released shortly after he bonded out, sources said.
Dallas Cowboys sources also tell CBS 11 Sports that Coleman may now be cut from the team.
The team traveled to Phoenix Saturday afternoon. They are scheduled to play the Arizona Cardinals on Sunday.
A former Texas Tech standout, Coleman was the Jets' fifth round pick of the 1996 draft. He played six seasons, 1996-2001, in New York before being traded to the Houston Texans in 2002.
A criminal background search also showed he was pulled over and convicted in 2004 for driving while under the influence in Harris County.
Coleman also was sentenced to six months probation in 2004 for driving with a suspended license in Sugar Land, the Fort Bend County suburb southwest of Houston.
The 2004 offenses occurred while Coleman played for the Texans.
Coleman recently returned to the team from a league-imposed four-game suspension for violating the NFL substance-abuse policy.

QuoteMORE DETAILS ON BARNES ARREST
CBS 47 in Jacksonville has obtained some additional details regarding the arrest of Jaguars tackle Khalif Barnes.
Barnes was arrested for driving under the influence after being spotted driving in excess of 100 miles per hour in an area with a maximum speed of 60. He failed a field sobriety test, and Barnes then blew a 0.125 and a 0.121 percent blood alcohol concentration on a breathalyzer.
Although the CBS 47 report says that it's unsure whether Barnes will be disciplined pursuant to the league's Personal Conduct Policy, we can state unequivocally that he won't be. Alcohol-related incidents are addressed under the league's substance abuse policy.
Jaguars cornerback Brian Williams was arrested for DUI earlier this year, and defensive end Bobby McCray recently was arrested for reckless driving.
and to think the Eagles almost drafted Barnes...
QuoteBRYANT GETS BUSTED
Time to re-set the NFL player arrest clock to zero.
49ers receiver Antonio Bryant, whose team quietly is emerging as a legitimate NFC playoff contender, was arrested Sunday night for suspicion of drunken driving, resisting arrest, and speeding. Bryant allegedly was driving more than 100 mph on Highway 101. Per published reports, Bryant then became "belligerent."
"He was initially contacted for reckless driving and excessive speed . . . but officers noticed signs that he was under the influence and tried to get him to cooperate," said Capt. Kevin Rafaelli of the San Mateo police. "He was extremely uncooperative and belligerent to officers."
Bryant thereafter became "combative" and refused to get into the police cruiser. "He ultimately had to be restrained and placed in the car. . . . He was pretty verbally abusive and derogatory," Raffaelli said.
The entire exchange reportedly was audiotaped.
Reports regarding the arrest make no mention of whether Bryant was subjected to a field sobriety test, or a breathalyzer exam. Absent such evidence, it will be very difficult (in our opinion) to make DUI charges stick.
Bryant signed with the 49ers after completing his rookie contract with the Browns. He was traded to Cleveland a few months after an ugly incident with Cowboys coach Bill Parcells during offseason workouts in 2004. This season, Bryant has 31 receptions for 546 yards and two touchdowns.

Yeah, that left a mark. I was glad to be rid of Bryant anyway though. Talented, but inconsistent and as moody/tempermental as they come.
I liked Moats myself, just a matter of his size. With Gore, I liked him more than McGahee in college but a torn ACL in each knee? Getting it done though. I liked Barber in college, and thought the 4th was about right for him. He's a decent all around back and more consistent than Jones. Better inside runner too. Sometimes when he gets out the field he tippytaps around too much though, while other times instead of trying to make a guy miss he'll lower his head and try and run through him.
But I digress.
Bryant's an ass and has been since he came into the league, basically.
Oh. As a followup to Coleman, he stated to the Dallas area press that he wasn't mad at the team for cutting him loose. As if he would have a right to be after two DUIs in 4 months. Oh, and he also stated he didn't have an alcohol problem. As a tried and true alky, I can tell you he's full of shtein. ::)

A former New York Giants fullback was arrested today and charged with possession with the intent to deliver crack cocaine and another drug-related charge, Wilmington police said.
According to Sgt. Steven Elliott, police received a complaint of drug activity in the 400 block of E. Fourth St. about 3:30 p.m.
When officers arrived they attempted detain a suspect who, Elliott said, was trying to hide several small packages in his mouth. The materials later tested positive for crack cocaine at a total weight of less than 1 gram.
The suspect was identified as Charles Stackhouse, 26, who listed his residence on the 100 block of Senatorial Drive in Greenville, Elliott said.
"Stackhouse revealed to the arresting officers that he used to play in the NFL as a running back," Elliott added.
According to Lt. Elmer Harris, several officers involved in the arrest also confirmed the man was who he said he was.
Bail information was not available.

QuoteANOTHER BENGAL BUSTED
Man, you can't make this stuff up.
After a couple of quiet months, another member of the Cincinnati Bengals has gotten into trouble.
This time, it's receiver Reggie McNeal, who was arrested early Sunday for trying to get into a Houston nightclub after it had closed.
McNeal, a rookie, played quarterback in college for Texas A&M.
An off-duty Houston Police Department officer was working security at the club. McNeal reportedly became aggressive and pushed the officer when he was told that he couldn't enter.
McNeal was also involved in the incident from earlier in the season that resulted in the banishment of linebacker OdellThurman and a one-game deactivation of Chris Henry. It was McNeal's vehicle that Thurman was driving while intoxicated, and from which Henry was vomiting while Thurman was being arrested.
The Bengals have worked their way to 7-5 after a rocky start to the season.
QuoteANOTHER PLAYER ARRESTED
Maybe the NFL's theory is to get enough players arrested to make the fans and the media numb to it all.
We're being facetious (we think . . . and thanks, Tiki). But there's got to be an explanation for this rash of arrests. Or, more accurately, for the inability of the NFL and its 32 member teams to persuade its employees to not engage in behavior that might get them arrested. Or get other people hurt. Or worse.
The latest guy in handcuffs is Rams rookie tight end Dominique Byrd, a third-round draft choice out of USC. The charge? Stabbing a bar patron in the face with a broken bottle in the wee hours after the team's home loss to the Cardinals.

O'Neal was the 8th Bengals player arrested this year.

QuoteJOHNSON FACING GUN CHARGES
Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson is facing six misdemeanor charges resulting from the possession of six guns without appropriate Illinois paperwork.
The charges, as we see them, are not much more significant than a six-pack of parking tickets. But given that Johnson is already on probation, he could be facing hot water if the authorities argue that Johnson has violated the terms of said probation.
It's unlikely, in our view, that any such consequences would keep Johnson out of action over the balance of the 2006 season. The Personal Conduct Policy is triggered only by a conviction, a guilty plea, or a plea of no contest, and our guess is that the team won't take action against him.
Bottom line -- it's a distraction for the Bears, but not a big one

Yeeha! As I've mentioned before, this asswipe lives down the street from me. My wife and kids were home during the arrest. It wasn't just a bust - 20 SWAT members kicked in the door and tossed a flash grenade before entering. And guns? The smallest gun they found was a .223 assault rifle. Wow, that's a hell of a way to execute a misdemeanor arrest warrant. I guess everyone at the station wanted to see the NFL player's house.
Or they knew a black man lived there, so they went Rambo on his shtein.
More likely, as the Tribune suggested early yesterday, they expected to find a significant amount of drugs there (dealer quantities). The gun charges came out way after the warrant was issued.
My guess, they thought someone was dealing out of the house, and all they could find were guns, so they're trying to save face.
And why would they think someone was dealing there?

He's not actually playing, but Quincy Carter was arrested for pot possession.(Can't copy and paste it)
http://www.dallasnews.com/sharedcontent/dws/spt/stories/121606dnmetquincy.11670db3.html
And Randy Galloway bailed him out ($100 to bail bond co.) since no one else would.
We may have some lousy cops, but I don't think that's it. It's a pretty diverse community.
There have been complaints from neighbors about the dogs, someone firing guns in the back yard, and lots of people living in the house.
Of course, his last arrest was for attacking a cop, but that was in Chicago, and the cop wouldn't press charges. Who knows?
From my perspective (a couple of blocks away), he's been pretty quiet. No big parties, etc.
I'd still like to see that small arsenal out of my neighborhood though.
I'd be more worried about the pack of pit bulls than the guns, but I'm a different flavor racist than you I guess.
YOWZA!
QuoteMORE TROUBLE FOR TANK
Less than two days after the home of Bears defensive tackle Tank Johnson was raided, the man who was arrested for marijuana possession at Johnson's residence has been shot and killed.
William Posey, 26, was pronounced dead at Northwestern Memorial Hospital on Saturday morning. Although police have not confirmed that he is the same 26-year-old William Posey who was busted on Thursday, the Chicago media spotted Johnson exiting the same hospital on Saturday.
Posey was shot once in the back in a fight outside the Ice Bar.
On Friday, Posey said in court that he was Johnson's bodyguard. He later posted bond and was released.
Also on Friday, the Bears announced that Johnson would miss Sunday's game against the Buccaneers. Though coach Lovie Smith said that the move was not disciplinary in nature, it sure smells like a punishment to us. It remains to be seen whether Johnson's absence extends beyond this weekend in light of the more recent incident.
Reminds me of the scene in "Jackie Brown" when Sam Jackson gets Chris Tucker to go along with him in the trunk and then caps his ass.
Posey knew too much so bam!, bye-bye Posey. :-D

I'm not happy about the dogs either, Dio. But according to his neighbors, they're merely loud, they've never gotten loose.
I really really hate guns.
Time for someone to join the NRA.

Damn.
It's not the breed that's the problem, it's some of the people that own them. >:(
Anyway... anyone with a friggin' arsenal in their house should get their ass tossed in jail. Who the F needs more than ONE gun.

Hundreds upon hundreds of generations of selective breeding for the purpose of fighting can't be loved out in one generation. No way I'll get you to change your mind, so I'll just leave it at that.
I don't allow my dog anywhere near a pit, as well as a few other breeds (Presa Canario, etc.)
Police: Bears' Johnson at bar when fatal shooting took place (http://sports.yahoo.com/nfl/news;_ylt=AjNODyt6.BnE.OG9g4scpJRDubYF?slug=ap-bears-johnson&prov=ap&type=lgns)
Excerpt:
QuoteTroubled Chicago Bears nose tackle Tank Johnson is cooperating with police investigating the fatal shooting of his friend inside a nightclub, authorities said Saturday.
Police talked to Johnson at Northwestern Memorial Hospital, where Willie B. Posey was pronounced dead early Saturday, Police Superintendent Phil Cline said.
The 26-year-old Posey died after a fight inside Ice Bar, a club in the trendy River North neighborhood, Cline said. No one was in custody and the gun was not recovered, Cline added. He said it appears one shot was fired.
The shooting occurred about 12 hours after Johnson offered a public apology to teammates and family for his third arrest in the past 18 months.
Johnson was at the club Friday night. However, there was "no information to link him to anything that occurred at the bar at this point in the investigation," police spokesman Monique Bond said.

Nothing I could say could reverse years of bad press, so, I wouldn't expect to change your mind. All I know is my boy is now 7 years old and he has never attacked, or even nibbled, on anyone. He's a total mama's boy. Loves kids. Etc... Etc... Amazing what effect kisses vs. punches has on ANY animal (Goes for people, too. Imagine that.)... My brother's? Same. Everyone else's, that I know, that aren't douches? Same.
All I'm saying is: Even a Golden Retriever has the potential to tear a throat out if raised in the manner to do so.

Not my mother's yellow lab. That sissy can't even get onto the couch without a boost from "mama."
Of course, the dogs are spoiled rotten by my parents, too, so it probably proves your point. ;)
