worst nomination ever: william hurt being nominated for history of violence is an absolute joke...he was so over the top awful it was pathetic...what makes it even worse is ed harris should have been nominated in the same category for the same movie

If Brokeback Mountain wins best picture and/or Heath Ledger wins best actor I am going to go on a killing spree. Gylenhall as best supporting actor I wouldn't mind.

Didn't see Brokeback or Goodnight and Good Luck.

Capote was the best of the 3 I saw. Crash was good but seemed to be trying too hard to makes it's point.

yeah crash seemed like a glorified tv movie to me...really good but i dont think it was nomination worthy

NO!!

munich was gold....bana should have got an actor nod for it

Crash was too convenient for it's own good.  it tried to be like Pulp Fiction the way everybody was intertwined but it seemed forced.

Post by: rjs246 on January 31, 2006, 10:10:22 AM
Bana was good. The movie lacked any semblence of conviction. The fact that it got nominated is a farging joke.

Post by: MadMarchHare on January 31, 2006, 10:30:24 AM
Yeah, Bana should've gotten a nod to make up for not getting one for Hulk.
Title: Re: the offical academy awards thread
Post by: ice grillin you on January 31, 2006, 10:37:51 AM
problem with the hulk was that the awesome special effects overshadowed bana's acting thus he didnt get recognized as he should have

bana was also great in blackhawk down

i didnt realize he was aussie until the golden globes this year when i heard him speak

Only Best Pic nominee I've seen so far is "Crash".  I also plan to see "Good Night, and Good Luck" and "Capote".  Not sure if I have any interest in seeing "Munich", and I'm pretty sure I'll never see "Brokeback Mountain".

Depends on the movie. It took about six months for Team America World Police to get released! Of the best picture nominees, Brokeback Mountain is out now, Crash has been and gone, Munich was released on Friday just gone, Capote isn't out yet and I have no idea what Good Night, and Good Luck is!

Ha, "It's hard out there for a pimp" got an oscar nod.   That movie was actually a lot better than I thought.  Seemed really corny in the commercials but it wasn't that bad.

Only one of the Best Movie nods I've seen is Crash.  Thought it was excellent, but agree with everyone else it was a bit over the top.  Glad Matt Dillon got nominated though, his character was good.

I think I may break down and see Brokeback Mountain now though, a bunch of friends went last week and everyone wants to see it again.

i havent seen it yet either?
Title: Re: the offical academy awards thread

The only urge I have to see Brokeback is in the hope that it really isn't a very good movie and that the only reason it's getting this much attention is b/c the dudes play gay. Then I could knowledgeably blast every single douche who goes on and on about it. If it's actually any good I have no interest.

i hear that chicks get real horny watching brokenback mountain....they go home and want to screw their man for not being ghey

anyway....CRASH was not good enough to be Oscar worthy.  It was very hollywood over the top...never really saw the hype.  Matt Dillion for best actor is a joke.  If that film wins anything it should be a steaming pile of horse shtein.  YO Ludda was tha B O M B is dat movie! what a joke.

Russel Crowe got screwed and so did Million Dollar Man.
