... join in all the "Beat Down A Criminal" fun the rest of the nation has been enjoying.
From this morning news copter:

(video has a short commercial in front of it)
I'd say that was a bit excessive. But what the hell, you run from the cops, you get a beating. In this case, they went a bit overboard but not much.
Someone call Jesse.

Couldn't agree more. Jesse's on a plane down there now.
I think Sharpton covers St. Louis...
QuoteThe Maplewood Police Department says the officers were not sure if the suspect was armed, and that the suspect may have been resisting arrest. A formal statement will be issued at 10:30 a.m.
May have been resisting arrest?
QuoteThe suspect tried to escape by ramming a couple of Maplewood police cruisers and then attempted to flee on foot.
If this isn't a clear cut case of resisting arrest, then I'd like to know what is.
Meh, the only thing questionable there is that last kick by the fat cop in the coat. He's clearly just pissed that some dude made him run.

I think a couple of the kicks that were delivered weren't necessary. But we're not talking about dozens of them, and the suspect walked away from the encounter. Meh.
I couldn't open the video link at work but I just saw it a few minutes ago on CNN and that was freaking awesome. I wish the helocopter would have been around the corner of that building so you could see the cops initially jack that dude up.
All in all, it didn't look too severe. Even after the cops got him, the dude was still trying to fight them off. Good job five-0.
Anyone who tries to run in a conversion van deserves a smack upside the head.
If the cops are onto you, you're not going to get away. Pull over and get it over with. And if you do run when they catch you just lay down in a prone position. Don't turn around, speak or anything like that that can be interpreted as an aggresive movement.
Here's the four-one-one:
The man was running into police cars, ran a red light right by a school bus (that would have been a nightmare!) & finally was fighting the cuffs after the police had him on the ground.
Today, IMO, was justified force.
I agree with everyone else. Wasn't a pleasant thing to have happen, but the amount of force wasn't so much over the top to make a national incident over. I would guess that worse police brutality than that occurs every day in every major city in America. If you resist arrest, bad things happen.
That guy should consider himself lucky he doesn't live in England. They'll shoot you over there.

Don't make light of that. Riding Subway While Brazilian is a serious offense.
They should have stuffed a plunger handle in his ass. That would have been hilarious. Those cops sure do have a crazy sense of humor!
