Can't wait until the talk is all about him again. lol
actually, he was trying to be the talk of this message board, and you fell into his trap, sucker.
The yearly "will he or won't he" vigil is beyond stale, already.
Personally, I hope he sticks around for some more beatings this year. If he retires, every network out there will be falling over themselves to sign him as an analyst or studio guy. At least with him playing we don't have to see and hear him every single week.
Go away. I'm sick of you.
I originally thought he'd just ride off into the sunset on his lawn mower.
However, I'm beginning to think he's much too much the media whore to abandon the attention.
He'd suck as an analyst.
obsess much?
Hey wait, did someone say something about Favre? Preposterous!
I care about Favre only slightly less than J.R. Reed at this point.
:-o
I think most football fans could give a shtein at this point. It has gotten old, and he is just screwing the team that he supposedly loves so much. Tired of even reading the guy's name.
Favre's thinking about retiring? :o
Can someone enlighten me on why everyone here dispises him so much? I just don't get it. I've always liked him. He's been a class guy the whole way through and has never given us any trouble. I'm listening...

I've never had a problem with him either. It's annoying as hell with the amount of media attention he gets now simply because his level of play doesn't warrant it anymore imo. But it's not his fault that Madden and Co have fallen in love with his jizz sack.
He was, at one time, the best QB in the league and is definately one of the best ever. He's never been, imo, a media whore. The worst thing you can say about the guy was that he got addicted to some pain killers. And even though I'll joke about that from time to time, the fact of the matter is that it could happen to anyone.
Yeah, it's kind of annoying watching the media follow him around like a pack of hungry dogs and he's got a t-bone hanging out of his back pocket. But there's nothing he can do about that. At least his play over the years has warranted the attention unlike some others who have yet to accomplish anything at the professional level other than making you say "wow" after his one good play of the game. IE: Vick.
Vick is the perfect example of a guy who deosnt deserve the attention the media gives him. Favre did and does though, and now that his career is coming to an end, what do people expect ESPN and everyone else to do now? Scroll the info on the bottom line and call it a day? He deserves a send off, regardless of how sick it may make some of you. He will go down as one of the best QB's of all time, and his consecutive game streak will probably never be broken, and is a microcosm of the grit and toughness he constantly displayed throughout his career.
Hate Madden and the media for the constant press, but to hate Favre for it is ridiculous.
I love Brett Favre. Can we talk about loving Brett Favre here? Does anyone else love Brett Favre? I don't think he gets enough credit. Totally under-rated. Let talk about him! Everyone cares!

She's gonna get you... :paranoid
Pad.
Whether my despining him is rational or not, I don't like the dude. Great player, but I don't like him. A lot of it has to do with how he's portrayed. The hurricane tradgedy where they showed his Mom calling him, the time when his Pops died and when his wofe got sick and when he brother in law died and they coined the Packers a team of destiny, the warrior talk because he throws a lot of INTs. That ain't being no warrior or "gamer" that's being careless with the football. But because he is Brett Favre he is labeled as a warrior who doesn't have shtein for a supporting cast so therefore he has to fire it in to tight spots.
And this whole will he or won't he talk is another reason why I don't like him. Why string it out like he is doing and has done in the past?
If you're going to retire...come out and say it.
If you're going to play for another year...out with it.
If you're not sure...shut up until you're sure one way or the other.
This saying "aw shucks, golly, I'm going to wait to see what the Packers do in free agency before I say" is ridiculous.
I have nothing against Favre, in fact I admire the man. I have come to loathe ESPN (truly most of the modern mass media) though, because of their incessant melodramatic display of nearly anything.
QuoteSo Brett Favre is still on the fence about coming back? Whatever. Here's what is the most annoying thing about this ongoing saga. The guy is acting like a freaking WOMAN! Dude, make up your mind. Only chicks hem and haw like this. Either get the balls to say "I am so pissed off about how last year went down, there's no way I'm going out on that!" Or just say, "hey, it's been great, but time to move on. Green Bay, you will always be in my heart."
Now here's the interesting swerve I would like to see thrown into the equation. What if the Packers came out right now and said: "We would love to have Favre back, but primarily as a back-up and mentor for Aaron Rodgers. Of course we'll pay him his full salary, but we really think this is an important year to move forward. Not only could Brett help mentor this young man in real-time game situations, but it's reassuring to know that we've got a veteran backup ready to play if needed."
Now, if Favre quickly says "I'm out" then you knew what his real intentions were all along. He wants to come back to play for HIMSELF first and foremost, nothing else. And sure, maybe he's earned the right not to have to carry a clipboard. I'm okay with that. But at least this way, you can tell more about his true motivation for a possible return.
From Steve Czaban... :yay

I liked Favre, and still do to a degree, but in the last few years his play has dropped off and the likes of ESPN don't even mention it. But that pic sums up Favre at his annoying worst. Flopping to give his buddy an undeserved record. That's arrogance and isn't true to the game. My favourite reason for liking him, though, is that he has been Brian Dawkins' bitch the last few seasons.
An undeserved record may be a bit harsh. The other 21(?) sacks were legit.
My problem is that he went out of his way to get a friend an INDIVIDUAL record in a TEAM sport. And that speaks volumes to both Strahan's and Favre's attitudes towards football.
So wait, are you guys saying that you like Favre or that you don't like Favre? I'm confused, but extremely happy to be talking about him.

QuotePackers: Favre wants more time to decide
JASON WILDE 608-252-6176
jwilde@madison.com
INDIANAPOLIS - One week from what seems a logical deadline for a decision on his future, Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre remains undecided about retirement - and he wants even more time to think about it.
Due a $3 million roster bonus March 8 - a payment the Packers wouldn't want to make if Favre isn't going to play in 2006 - Favre said in an interview that aired on ESPN Tuesday he wants to see what the team does to improve its personnel before making a decision.
"In some ways, I'm kind of waiting to see what we do free agent-wise and in the draft and those things," Favre said in Homestead, Fla., where he was taking NASCAR driving lessons. "And they're probably kind of waiting on me, too. So it's a little bit of a waiting game. Right now, I'm just trying to get away from it as much as I can and clear my mind, as hard as that may be."
The free-agency period is scheduled to begin Friday, although the uncertainty in negotiations on a new collective bargaining agreement between the NFL and the players association could delay it. However, the league said it would not extend Friday's deadline after talks stalled with the NFLPA Tuesday.
The draft, in which the Packers hold the No. 5 overall pick, is April 29 and 30.
Favre, 36, threw a career-high and NFL-worst 29 interceptions last season, when the Packers finished 4-12, their first losing season since 1991. He left Green Bay following the Packers' season-ending victory over Seattle on New Year's Day and has spoken with general manager Ted Thompson and new coach Mike McCarthy several times since, although both have said they haven't given Favre a deadline for a decision.
Thompson could not be reached for comment Tuesday, while McCarthy was traveling from the NFL scouting combine and was unavailable.
On Thursday, Favre's agent, Bus Cook, said at the NFL scouting combine his client might consider pushing back the due date for the roster bonus to give himself more time to think about whether he wants to return for a 16th NFL season.
However, a NFL source said the Packers might not be willing to move the date, wanting instead for Favre to make up his mind - which Favre appears no closer to doing.
"I wish I would wake up and know," Favre said. "I was telling my mom several days ago when she was asking me the same question - 'You know, when are you going to make up your mind?' - I wish I would wake up and say, 'What have you been waiting on? It's a clear-cut decision.'
"I mean, there's more things involved. I love to play the game but I want to compete at a high level. I'd like to know our team is going to compete at a high level. Just kind of ... you know, gut instinct hasn't told me anything yet."
man i bet they have a big bucket waiting for him to kick. PLEASE KICK THE BUCKET!

That's a pretty selfish approach from Farve, as who the Packers land in FA isn't totally under their control. T
They could go out & target a bunch of top tier guys, have them fall through & then Favre would retire leaving a big gaping wound at QB after all the best QB's are gone.
I hope they feel compelled to pay him the bonus, then he fargs them by retiring.

It better be a joke, because if it's not...I think I just might have to give up football. Where is the justice?
Bout time the Packers thought about growing a set of balls. If "God" can't decide... make the decision for him.
If the Cowboys can cut Emmitt Smith, then the Packers can certainly cut Brett Fahv-ruh.
I hope he plays for another 15 years so I can read all about how you all hate him so much. I love whining. It's the best.

QuoteLORD FAVRE IS COMING BACK
Although there's been no official announcement, we've been told that Packers quarterback Brett Favre has informed the team that he'll be returning for the 2006 season.
The move means that the Packers almost certainly will not take a quarterback with the fifth overall pick in the draft. Previously, we'd heard that the team would potentially be interested in selecting Matt Leinart, if Favre were to walk away.
Since 2002, the question of whether Favre would or wouldn't retire has been the subject of rampant and regular scrutiny. His return for 2006 means that, barring an unequivocal statement before, during, or after the coming season, we'll get to spend another 12 months or so periodically addressing the same, old, tired issue.
QuoteThe move means that the Packers almost certainly will not take a quarterback with the fifth overall pick in the draft. Previously, we'd heard that the team would potentially be interested in selecting Matt Leinart, if Favre were to walk away.
What does that say about what the Packers believe about Aaron Rodgers?
The Packers probably believe that Aaron Rodgers and the QB selected right after him both suck, and they'd be right.

Yeah, but it comes a time for the whole will to win thing to be let go. If he comes back, he alters the Packers plan another year, and the team already is in a slide. Sometimes you just have to say goodbye and this the year--why come back to throw for 17+ interceptions and no shot? Kills peoples perception

His teammates know he is coming back--never really heard a word form them huh? Interesting. The fans dont know if he is coming back of course, so thats why the animosity towards him. Favre is not really close to Thompson and is a big prankster trying to get in his head. All of his comments about his OL and other positons were geared towards Thompson, so he would get off his ass and make somes FA moves quick. It was all used as leverage, but turned into a media circus instead.
Not that this is news or anything but Brett Favre has been an arrogant prick ever since he flopped for :=) earning him a record he doesn't deserve. He thinks he is bigger than the Green Bay Packers, he thinks he is bigger than the game - and all because he has the same amount of Super Bowl wins as Trent Dilfer and Brad Johnson. Such a shame.

He told the NFL Network he thinks Favre is trying to force the Packers to trade him. Madden said he hasn't spoke to Favre, but he's just listening to what the quarterback has been saying. Madden admits Favre has told him and others that he won't play anywhere but for the Packers, but he still thinks Favre would rather play for a team that has a better chance to win the Super Bowl.

Seriously, I've thought about this. There are no teams that are possible superbowl contenders that want Favre to start.

"This is a big decision for Brett Favre, and we can't deny that he's the heart and soul of our team, the most important Packer, the most important person in all of America, and the center of the whole entire universe," Packer general manager Ted Thompson said Tuesday. "It's not like we have to make any major decisions that all hinge on whether or not he's returning, after all. We'll just ride around on our lawn tractors on our farm in Mississippi while we wait for him to make up his goddamn mind." Favre would not say when he might announce his decision, admitting that he was "too much in awe of what Mr. Brilliant Genius Thompson did with the 4-12 Packers last year" to commit one way or the other.

He's a complete jackass.
Schefter said that Favre called Arrington personally and tried to convince him to play for the Packers with him.
Arrington probably signed with the Giants a couple of minutes later.
Arrington was on NFL Total Access last night going on and on about how great it was that Brett Farve called him and asked for help (HA!). And that he would tell his kids and his grandkids about it for years to come.
He'll then explain why he didn't play in Green Bay because with the Ole' Gunslinger heaving up interceptions it would have meant he would be on the field far too long, and his pasta-constructed knee couldn't hold up to the punishment.
Hooray for the return of The Brett. Picks for everyone!

I don't understand his thinking at all. What the farg does he think he's gonna' do, win the Superbowl?? He's done, washed up, not to mention stupid for not retiring at least two years ago. He's smearing an otherwise stellar career.
You hear guys like Dan Patrick say "when you love the game so much, it's hard to let it go." Bullshtein. If he loved the game as much as all the talking heads on ESPN say, and if he really cared about the Packers, he'd have retired years ago and let Green Bay move forward with rebuilding. The Packers are dragging an anchor and it's Favre.

That's because Favre doesn't like black people.
Favre still has some good conversations with the other players though.

"Donovan told me," said one of McNabb's NFL buddies last year, "that it just seemed like the team didn't know how to figure out a way to stop the losing. It took the heart out of him. He said there were times he felt like he just didnt care out there."

Not good enough. It would need to make several references to TO and how much that affected McNabb's leadership.

He can't be serious.
King considers himself a personal friend of Favre and is the archetypical Favre slurper. The really sad thing isn't just that statement, it's the fact that you can open up King's archive and discover tons of additional fawning over Favre that is even more pathetic.

I agree. It's one thing when the announcers are slobbing his knob even when he's out there being ineffectual and throwing wild INTs all over the field game in and game out (a situation that has been the case for many years). This year, however, is among the best seasons in his Hall of Fame career. Given Favre's remarkable resurgence, the shteintiness of the Eagles, and the Cowboys threatening to win the NFC, it's safe to say I'll be rooting for the old man in the playoffs.
No question. I cant see how Mike McCarthy doesnt get coach of the year. Yes they have holes, but that team blew every analysts expectations out of the water for both offensive and defensive production. Good for him and them
And he did it without cheating. (Or getting caught, if you're a cynic).

The fact that you are still talking about my post count makes me very sad about your life.
Me reading the posts about rjs' and FF's sad lives, and then me trying to figure out the right answer, makes my life the saddest I think.
The saddest life of all is Brett Favre. Here's a guy with all the time and money in the world, who is revered as a hero by millions of people, and yet he's not happy unless he's playing the game. He's more addicted to football than painkillers. You know he's going to be a bigtime substance abuser once he can no longer physically play.
QuoteGREEN BAY, Wis. -- The Green Bay Packers' general manager and coach don't plan to grant Brett Favre's request for his release. If he does rejoin the team, they told The Associated Press, it won't be as the starting quarterback.
And Favre is unlikely to accept a backup role, GM Ted Thompson and coach Mike McCarthy acknowledged Saturday in their first public comments since the 38-year-old Favre demanded his release this week.
A trade may be the best resolution, but Thompson and McCarthy declined to discuss that possibility. Thompson said he had not received any inquiries from other teams as of Saturday morning.
"We've communicated that to Brett, that we have since moved forward," Thompson said. "At the same time, we've never said that there couldn't be some role that he might play here. But I would understand his point that he would want to play."
When asked whether that role might be as a backup or coach, Thompson said: "not a coach."
Added McCarthy: "He did ask about that, though."
He needs his fix so bad, it's getting really disgusting.
It's not shocking though.
I find it interesting to see this play out though. WHich team will trade for him?
Michael Smith was on ESPN saying how Washington should sit Jason Campbell for him.
If he plays like he did last year, there's only a handful of teams that couldn't use him.
I know a few Packer fans, and I'm really enjoying watching their conflicting emotions about all this. I'm pretty sure a Packer fan I work with is going to come into work shooting if Favre signs with the Vikings.
I'm really hoping it's Minnesota or Chicago.
Packers DT Johnny Jolly was busted for possession of 200 grams (a shteinload) of codeine. Now we know why Brett was 'getting the itch' to come back to GB.
I do think Johnny Jolly is an excellent name for a drug dealer though.

QuoteMINOR LEAGUE TEAM MAKES FUN OF FAVRE
Posted by Michael David Smith on July 21, 2008, 12:46 p.m.
Four months ago, the news of Brett Favre's retirement was met with almost universal respect for the longtime Packers quarterback and future Hall of Famer.
But now that Favre is waffling about a comeback, that respect is, in some quarters, turning to ridicule.
Darren Rovell of CNBC reports that the Augusta GreenJackets, a Single-A baseball team, have become the first minor league team to make fun of Favre as a ticket promotion.
To poke fun at Favre as a flip flopper, the GreenJackets will give away a pair of flip flops to the first 100 fans at the team's August 4 game. They will also retire Favre's No. 4 jersey, and then un-retire it on August 5. Fan contests incorporating the Lambeau Leap as well as the "Strahan Sack" will be part of the festivities.
What does it all mean? Mostly, it's just a goofy and kinda funny minor league baseball promotion. But it's also a reminder that no matter what Favre ultimately decides to do, his inability to make up his mind about retirement has made him the butt of jokes across the country.
funny how you're hearing reports of Favre nixing the idea of a return now
could be speculation and he still comes back, but maybe winning the ESPY award, all the jokes, seeing himself on screen from young to old head hit home. When its all said and done, his wife is fly as shtein

QuoteBrett Favre might want to invest in his own cell phone
By MJD
It's not as poetically idiotic as Chris Henry getting arrested while wearing his own jersey, but this one's in the same neighborhood.
Remember those tampering charges that the Packers filed against the Vikings? And remember how I thought it would be difficult for the Packers to prove that Favre had made inappropriate contact with the Vikings?
Well, that assumed that Brett Favre wasn't using a Packers-issued cell phone to make those calls to the Vikings. As it turns out, Favre may have done exactly that.
From the Minneapolis Star-Tribune:
...Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel had an interesting bit of information in a piece he wrote about the quarterback today.
McGinn writes that a source said Favre had continued to use a Packers-issued cell phone and that when the team checked the phone records it found "repeated calls to coach Brad Childress and offensive coordinator Darrell Bevell."
The possibility of Favre having used a phone issued by the Packers had been speculated on last week after the Associated Press reported that Green Bay informed the NFL it felt "an investigation of the phone records would show more than 'normal contact' between the Vikings and Favre, even before he formally asked for his release to play for another team."
In fairness to Favre, it should be mentioned that any phone calls he made to the Vikings were made in a gunslinging fashion, and through the entire conversation, he looked like a kid out there, just having fun. :-D
Say this turns out to be true, and tampering by the Vikings can be proved. And say that the Packers do what they're expected to do, and block Favre from playing for the Vikings. Favre could end up costing the Vikings draft picks and fines while never playing a down for them, while also putting the Packers in this miserable position.
Give him a couple more weeks, and he might just find a way to tear down the entire NFC North.
He's such a douchebag, I know he's godlike in GB but I'd really love to see their fans turn on him.
that's some funny shtein
SalPal, either serious or looking to start more McNabb controversy, reported on SC that the Eagles were the NFC team that the Packers contacted.
The Packers call the Eagles before they cut an undrafted rookie free agent...of course they called
Andy loves him some Favre, but I don't think even IGY would pay $12 million for Favre.
He'd pay $26M and not a penny more.
Favre better be asking for some big Castillo-like guaranteed money.
That's so not funny, man. Why you gotta hate on IGY?

If I'm Rogers I play out the next two years with the Pack and then when they go to resign him because they need em he walks out on them
At which point they'll say, buh-bye. Because they won't need him. They'll need the new, highly drafted, highly paid, under 30 QB they'll have signed to replace him.

QuoteFAVRE SAYS THOMPSON BEGGED HIM NOT TO RETURN
Posted by Mike Florio on July 27, 2008, 3:03 p.m.
Chris Mortensen of ESPN reports that Packers quarterback Brett Favre has signed a letter requesting reinstatement, but that Favre might not send it until Monday or Tuesday.
Per Mort, Favre says that G.M. Ted Thompson "pleaded" with Favre to give the team more time to figure out the situation.
"I asked Ted [Saturday], 'Am I welcome in the building if I report?' and Ted was just about shattered," Favre said. "He said, 'Brett, you can't do that — you'll get me fired.' I told him I'm not trying to get anybody fired. So Ted asked me to let the guys report and let's try to resolve this over the next two or three days."
Favre also said he's getting pressure from his agent, Bus Cook, and his wife, Deanna, to move forward.
"Deanna, Bus, everyone here [in Mississippi] says, 'You're so stupid, letting [the Packers] play you like this," Favre said. "They want me to get in there now. I may wait until Tuesday or so."
Favre also said that he asked Thompson to let him genuinely compete for the starting job in Green Bay.
"I said, 'Let me compete, you'll know I'll win this job' and Ted said again, 'Brett, things have changed. Aaron Rodgers is our quarterback.' It's pretty clear — and this is what I told the commissioner — that they want me to go away, stay retired. They would much rather see me in a Packers' uniform, paying me $12 million to be a backup — which you know they really don't want — rather than see in another uniform, no matter what they say. They'll drag this out, asking a king's ransom [in a trade], hoping it all goes away."
And so the situation, which seemed two days ago to be destined to resolve amicably, is getting uglier. If Favre is portraying his call with Thompson accurately (and it's possible that Favre is exaggerating, to put it kindly), the Packers are backed into a corner, and it very well could be that their only options are to genuinely welcome him back, or let him walk.
Finally, these latest developments make Taco Bill's newest offering even more appropriate.
This is interesting to me now. I want to see how all of this junk is going to play out and how it will affect that team. They were on the verge of being pretty damn good (if Rodgers was even half decent) but now will this split the team like the Owens mess did here?
If McCarthy can pull a winning season out of Rodgers and that potentially divided team, thats would be impressive.
GET RODGERS
i dont see how the nfl isnt forcing the packers hand and making him go to the vikings.
the two teams meet in week 1. on monday night. in lambeau. on what was supposed to be brett favre retirement night. instead itll be favre in purple. the story writes itself. the ratings will be massive. doesnt everyone want more money?
Philly intertwined with Favre... (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3507141)
QuoteChildress explained his talk with Favre further during Vikings training camp on Sunday.
"I've always felt like he could play. I told him so right after the game last year when they beat us 35-0. I wish he would have retired. I told him that to his face," Childress said. "He's still got some zip on it. In my mind it's no different than me talking to Donovan McNabb as he's [reporting] to training camp or talking to Brian Westbrook. I communicate with people in this league. You don't leave past relationships."
Quote"I have never denied talking to Childress," Favre said. "I've known [Childress] for about 12 years going back to when he and Jay Norvell were assistants at Wisconsin and they used to come in and sit in our quarterback meetings. And then Brad went to Philadelphia to be with Andy Reid and, you know, Andy and I are big buddies so the relations continued.
'Like I told Milt and like I told the commissioner, I've spoken to Childress. I've spoken to Darrell Bevell [Vikings offensive coordinator], I've spoken to Andy Reid, I've spoken to Mike Sherman, Matt Millen, Steve Mariucci ... I've spoken to a lot of guys who are my friends and guys who have coached me, either talked to them or left messages."
Childress is either a complete jackass or lacking integrity if he can't see the difference in talking to McNabb and Westbrook and talking to Favre.
Favre has faxed in his letter requesting reinstatement (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=3509944).

Just heard on the radio this morning, EA says he'll still be on the cover as of right now... but it's "on hold".
Favre should be on his new team by the end of the week/over the weekend, anyway. EA'll just have to get to photochoppin'.
I would seriously love to see Favre on another team. Especially the Vikings. That shtein would entertain me to no end.
If it were up to me I'd just put Favre on the cover riding his lawnmower in Mississippi.
The Packers reportedly offered Favre $20 million to NOT play football. Now things are really getting ridiculous.

Btw... ESPNEWS bottom line says they're now considering trading him to the Bears or Vikings.
Favre to the Bears would be farging fantastic. I mean, they would still be awful, but those clowns have farging dispised him for as long as he's been in Green Bay.
i bet espn would pay the packers 20 million to trade him to the bears or vikes...can you imagine the hype train that would precede that game
It'd also be incredible to see what the Packers do in place of the jersey retirement ceremony before the opener against the Vikings if Favre is wearing purple across the field from them.
maybe theyll retire arron rogers number instead
I dont know what the Packers are afraid of trading him to the Vikings. farg your divisional rival, look ahead and get something in return for your Hall of Famer
1) the chances of him duplicating his season a yr ago are very slim
2) the vikings dont run a spread offense as the Packers did, so the chances are even more slim
3) they have no tight end
4) Wade and Rice are very mediocre WR's with the slight edge to Berrian who is not a game breaker
If the Pack were smart they'd tell Favre to give them a list of teams he'd agree to be traded too, then tell him there's no way in hell they'll ship his ass to the Vikes, Lions, or Bears. Get whatever they can from him and call it a day.
their fear is that the Vikings have a very good defense and a great running game and are a good qb away from being a Super Bowl team. they don't want to give their division rival the one piece they need to run away with the division and conference.
the Vikings wouldn't need Favre to be great. just not be Tavaris Jackson.

The benefits of alcohol, which are thought to be linked to its effect on the flow of blood to the brain, can be detected when a person drinks up to 30 units of alcohol - about four to five bottles of wine - per week.

The Packers are in "serious talks" about a trade that would send Brett Favre to the Jets, according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette.
Interesting.
The $20M bribe and the Jets talk.
The Packers should take Pennington and a draft pick. Pennington will at least give them (although injury prone himself) a veteran back up in case Rodgers goes down.

If I were the Packers I wouldn't trade him to Minnesota either. Like most have said, he instantly makes them a formidable team in the NFC. The defense plus AP in the average NFC could mean something.
Trade him to NY.

Did they up it to 3.5? I thought I read it was 1.75...either way, pretty lowball. Especially, as you point out, they are willing to give Favre 20 mil to disappear.

This has gotten' stupid beyond belief. Even old Colts great Johhny Unitas and San Fran's Joe Montana finished their careers with different teams. Either of those two guys are much better qb's than Favre. In championship games, Unitas and Montana threw TD's while Favre throws INT's. Vince Lombardi, the guy whose name is on that trophy and who is considered one of the greatest coaches ever when he was with the Packers finished his coaching career in Washington.

QuotePACKERS HIRE ARI FLEISCHER
Posted by Mike Florio on August 3, 2008, 6:33 p.m.
As the most bizarre story we've ever seen continues to get more and more bizarre, now comes word that the Packers have hired former White House press secretary Ari Fleischer as a consultant, according to Jay Glazer of FOXSports.com.
Fleischer has been hired for a month.
He met with the team several days ago, in a session that was supposedly scheduled before the cheese hit the fan regarding the Favre situation.
The Packers would have been wise to hire Fleischer at least a month ago. And unless he has access to a time machine, it's going to be very hard for him to undo the damage that the franchise has already done to its image and reputation with the bungling manner in which the present situation has been handled.
And here's the bottom line — if the Packers were serious about welcoming Brett Favre back and making him the starter, why would they need a former White House press secretary to do damage control? Our guess is that this latest maneuver is proof positive the vodka-fueled chess match will continue, in the hopes of making the Packers look like the good guys and casting Favre as the villain.

He can go to Indy and compete with JLOAD for the #3 spot.

QuotePlease Note: This jersey will not ship until the player's official number has been released.
i think it was mort that was reporting last night that one of the reasons the jets wanted him so bad was so that he would be the face of the franchise going into the new stadium in 2010...theres no chance farve plays past this year is there?
i think he might just to shove it up GBs ass and prove he still could
that will be THREE more years...i say the jets cut him after this season...hes going to be so awful...he might have 30 interceptions if he doesnt get hurt or benched
he gets to play the Dolphins and Bills twice, he won't be that bad
and the start of the 2010 season is 2 years away
well if hes the face of the franchise going into the new stadium im assuming that means he will play that year
right
Hopefully he'll be dead long before that.
He is no the Madden Cover, so its very possible
Are they going to put him on the cover in a Jets jersey now? Yucky.
Poll on ESPN.com is asking who will represent the AFC in the Super Bowl.
10% are actually saying the Jets. Hahahahaha
Well, EA was supposedly holding the cover until he found a team so I guess so...
I heard today that EA will still release the game with him in the Packers uniform. And then in a few weeks they will have a downloadable cover that you can print out on-line and replace the old one.
And they will offer a roster download to add him into the game.
roster update will come out first day.

There should be a severe virus that downloads along with that cover for anyone anal enough to actually take the time to do this. And I don't mean a computer virus. Something potentially fatal.

anybody watching the packers pre season game?
that catch run TD by james jones was effing awesome.
yeah, it was awesome. The catch wasn't a given, and then when he took a pretty hard shot by two converging defenders, he kept going. That his helmet flew just adds a little flavor to a damn good play.
I stopped watching after that...god damn those announcers.
The little bald guy is unbearable. Its like having Dennis Miller in there, but without the force-fed stats.

1. Panthers go 0-16
2. Jets go 1-15, Favre is benched in week 5. Then dies.
3. Aaron Rodgers tears the league a new icehole for 6 weeks. Then dies.
4. Eagles win the Superbowl.

QuoteJets RB Jones: Favre should have been benched
6 hours, 2 minutes ago
NEW YORK (TICKER) —New York Jets running back Thomas Jones earlier this week told a local radio station that future Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre should have been benched at some point during the season.
Jones told Hot 97 FM on Tuesday that Favre's mistakes hurt the Jets down the stretch.
New York lost four if its last five games, and the 39-year-old Favre tossed nine interceptions with just two touchdowns in that span. Favre finished with 22 touchdowns and a league-worst 22 interceptions, but still somehow made the Pro Bowl.
"We're a team and we win together. ... But at the same time, you can't turn the ball over and expect to win," Jones told the radio station two days after Favre tossed three interceptions in the season-ending loss to Miami.
The loss was even more painful because former Jet Chad Pennington outplayed Favre and helped the Dolphins clinched the AFC East. Jones, who led the AFC with 1,312 yards, said the turnovers were the difference in the 24-17 loss.
"The other day, the three interceptions really hurt us. I mean, that's just reality," Jones told the radio station. "If I were to sit here and say, 'Oh, man, it's OK,' that's not reality. ... I don't like it, I know everybody else on the team doesn't like it.
"If somebody is not playing well, they need to come out of the game," Jones told Hot 97 FM. "You're jeopardizing the whole team because you're having a bad day. To me, that's not fair to everybody else. You're not the only one on the team. So when you get to the wire and somebody is just giving the game up, I mean, it's just not (fair)."

Wait until the first starting QB goes down with an injury this preseason before thinking that is anything near official.
What I would love more than anything is for Favre to resign with someone (the Skins) and about halfway through the 4th game of the season just collapse into a Richie Tennenbaum-like free fall. He'd take a snap and just sit down. He'd randomly quick-kick on second down from the 50. Underhand passes to opposing linemen. Full on tears and should-shaking sobs in the huddle. That would be heaven.
Maybe put the ball on the ground and sexually assault it.

"I think it's despicable. What he put the Packers through last year was not good. Here's an organization that was loyal to him for 17, 18 years, provided stability of organization, provided players. It just wasn't about Brett Favre. In this day and time, we have glorified the Brett Favre's of the world so much, they think it's about them. He goes to New York and bombs. He's 39 years old. How would you like Ray Nitschke in his last year (playing for) the Vikings, or I retire, and go play for the Packers. I kind of hope it happens, so he can fail."
"I think he has been a great flamboyant quarterback, but he has made more stupid plays than any great quarterback that I've ever seen. Look at his final game in a Packers uniform. He blew that game against the Giants. He's playing against Eli Manning(notes), I love Eli Manning, but he's still not a great quarterback. He's not Peyton yet, or Tom Brady(notes). He's just a guy. And they're (Packers) are playing at home, and they're in a tight situation, they went to overtime and he (Favre) throws the interception that allows them (the Giants) to come back and win the game. He has done that and driven his coaches crazy all of his career."

Favres record the last 5 weeks the last 4 years.
05 1 TD 10 picks
06 4 TDs 8 picks
07 6 TD's 7 picks
08 2 TDs 9 picks
13 TD's and 34 interceptions at crunch time.
good luck.
Favre's body is too old and beat up to go a full season. Vick on the other hand is a bad QB year-round. 38 picks and 36 fumbles over the last 3 seasons he played.

i seriously would...hes not a qb period...and him trying to run an accuracy timing based pass 65% of the time offense would be a joke
his numbers are embarrassingly bad and even more than that he doesnt win...ive never seen anyone live off a single victory more than vick and that lambeau game...then you add in the fact that he hasnt taken a snap in two years?....no farging way
if youre going to argue numbers you have to keep somewhat of an open mind with this guy.
First off, the guy had hands down, without a doubt the worst receiving core in the league, yes worse than the eagles
Vick had an int rate of 3.4% which isn't really bad in comparison to other big time starting quarterbacks and his career interception rate is only 3.0%. Carson Palmer, Kurt Warner, Eli Manning, Brett Favre, Tony Romo and Ben Roethlisberger all have career interception rates of over 3.0%. Big Ben and Romo both have interception rates of 3.5% and 3.6%. worse than Vick's 3.4% in 2006.
As far as his fumbles, from 2004-2006, Vick only fumbled 12 times while rushing the ball—the other 24 fumbles were the result of sacks. In comparison, Adrian Peterson fumbled the ball 9 times while rushing the ball in just ONE season. Not to mention, among Vick's 9 rushing fumbles over his last 3 years, he only lost possession of the ball 4 times in those 3 years.
give him a full year, with his arm and with some legitimate targets that know how to run correct routes he could be just fine.

Favre was incredibly selfish, he just didnt want to go to TC

actually dungy could care less either way...he simply put forth a valid concern over the vikings taking him in

Fran is out gettin drunk with 10 or 12 friends every night, wish i lived his life
he sure sounds like a bored lonely bitter man for someone who has friends and id advise him to find a better life
You could start by inviting him to join :CF
If someone were trampling all over something I used to love I'd probably be irked too. Not Chuck Bednarik level irked, but probably Fran Tarkenton level irked.
lol trampling all over what?...the irony in that is tarkenton threw for like the second most interceptions in nfl history when he was hanging on at the same age farve is now
i dont think anyone is trampling over anything but if anyone honestly believes that is happening here then its the jets and vikings doing it....how one could be so upset at favre here is baffling to me...if you must get mad at someone get mad at the jets or vikings
its so funny to me that people think farve is being selfish towards the vikings...like farve did anything to minnesota that minnesota didnt allow him to
How can you not see how Favre is abusing the Vikings for his own selfish purposes?
Jesus, man...
how can you not see that farve wouldnt even be allowed on the premises much less be their quarterback if the vikings hadnt called and offered him 10 million bucks to be there
vikings dont court him all summer hes retired for good this very second
Just because the Vikings are desperate doesn't mean Favre isn't being the same over-the-hill selfish d-bag he's been for the past five seasons.
It's pathetic, dude.
what the hell is farve supposed to do...turn down the money cause he feels bad for tavaris jackson?

there are people who "should" retire in sports but no one is "supposed" to retire
you retire when one of two things happen
1. you feel like it
2. no one requires your services anymore
this is really simple stuff...i honestly dont know why so many people get so angry at all this...like hes the first athlete to ever unretire
He and Jordan and Lemieux should all have their knees smashed in.
favre was planning on signing with the vikings since march. why else would he retire and then ask the jets to formally release him? normally when a player retires, the team he retires from retains the rights to him until the end of the actual contract. but this allowed favre the freedom to sign with minny and kept the jets from having to hand draft picks over to green bay.
the vikes and favre probably knew in may that he was going to play this year, they just did a very good job of keeping it under wraps until this week when they signed the paperwork.

favre was planning on signing with the vikings since march. why else would he retire and then ask the jets to formally release him? normally when a player retires, the team he retires from retains the rights to him until the end of the actual contract. but this allowed favre the freedom to sign with minny and kept the jets from having to hand draft picks over to green bay.
the vikes and favre probably knew in may that he was going to play this year, they just did a very good job of keeping it under wraps until this week when they signed the paperwork.
he also had the surgery done which was only needed to play football...it wasnt required to live a normal retired life
Favre is a douche. The end.
I miss Munson
$750 = over under on the amount of money he claims he won in vegas
under
you are probably right but he "wins" at least 300 everytime he goes to AC for a night...i figure a jaunt in vegas of this length gets him easily more than that
does he? I can't say I pay that much attention to him to recall
not that youll care to but check the poker thread...i think one time he broke even and every other time hes claimed huge winnings

I don't really know how they can trash the Vikings' decision to bring in Favre on football grounds. Yeah sure he's not an elite QB anymore, and it's questionable whether he's even still "good", but all the Vikings had was Tarvaris Jackson and Sage Rosenfels. Favre is without question an upgrade over that trash.

QuoteBrett Favre told ESPN before the Minnesota Vikings' game on Monday that he suspects he may have a cracked rib.
Favre hasn't had an official diagnosis, but he says taking a deep breath causes discomfort. The 39-year-old quarterback isn't listed on the injury report and no other other Vikings official mentioned the injury pregame.
The three-time MVP says he has no plans to wear any kinds of special padding, saying "the damage is done."
Wow, what a hero!
the hero charade is all he cares about and at this point and I truly question if he even has a partially torn rotator.
Didnt they say they have to limit his throwing reps all year? what happens if the game goes into overtime and he has to pass 40+ times...do you take him out? child please--that shtein aint torn---one off the back foot hard as he can hail mary hoist downfield into triple coverage for an interception outta rip that puppy then.
Maybe it hurts to breath because death is stalking his old ass. Just die old man. Die now.
petersen just ran 75 yards for a touchdown.
lol
he's kind of good
I hope that broken rib punctures his lungs. And heart.
i don't, i have some fantasy WR that are banking on Minnesota not having a gimp at QB

HI HATERS!
He looks farging legit right now. Which is infuriating but also impressive. shteinhead.
hate to say it myself but he had a hell of a game. we'll see how long that will last though.
yep, he played a damn near flawless game last night. but he also had almost no pressure on him all game either. gb is atrocious up front on both sides of the ball.
I tried watching it, but I couldn't stand listening to Gruden's gagging, mumbling fellatio.
his arm will wear out by the end of the year if he's still healthy. he'll round into that pick off machine form we all know and love by Dec as long as Chilly lets him keep throwing.
i def agree about his arm. Look at last year, and the year before, and the year before. He starts off strong, and wears out by week 10, being that he took off camp, i'd bet week 12
I don't care how well he plays. He's still a piece of shtein.
FOX is going to have a camera dedicated to Favre from beginning to end.
Barf
its farging nauseating so far
I had no plans on watching. This doesn't effect me at all.
i wont see it either
i just love seeing people so pissed off about it...thats way better than the game could ever be
What a narcissistic drama queen.
Tearing up during his on field post game interview, saying how everything he says gets thrown back in his face...shut up
Yes, shut the farg up. Please.
I don't know what everyone is getting so excited about. He'll just do what he does every year and tank the last 4 games.
i really wanted to packers to win that game. their o-line makes the eagles look like an inpenetrable fortress.
Rodgers holds onto the ball so farging long too.
Quote from: EagleFeva on November 01, 2009, 10:52:18 PM
Rodgers holds onto the ball so farging long too.
yeah he does. but he's the real deal though so as long as the packers can get a solid line in front of him, they've got a strong offense built for long term success. dook is so much faster than you'd think too. since my g/f is a packer backer, i watch a lot of their games too and i've seen him running in the open field and out running speedy linebackers and even some db's.
but do they have a long term offense Sarge? dont get me wrong...Rodgers is good and can win games with his arm, but outside of Jennings, you have an aging Driver, no faith in Ryan Grant, and a tight end in Donald Lee who is just ok
i think donald lee is pretty underrated in terms of pass catching and rac abilities. dude has solid hands, very good speed and some agility to go along with it. they have another young te on the roster too that plays more like a wr than a traditional te, but his name escapes me right now.
driver is getting up there, but jennings is in his prime right now and driver can still play another 3 years at a high level as long as he remains healthy. and as you often hear in football, a runningback is only as good as his offensive line. grant is still pretty solid but it's hard for any runningback to advance the football when he's dodging at least 1 d-lineman or linebacker in the backfield almost every time he touches the ball.
Jermichael Finley is the rookie TE. He's looked pretty good in the limited playing time he's had - 17 catches for 260 yards and a TD. I am surprised that Driver continues to put up decent numbers, but at 34 I doubt he can continue that kind of production for another 3 or 4 years.
I agree the Packers just need some o-line health/talent. Seems like the defense is getting used to the new scheme.
Nice bit of drama coming out now about the attempted benching.
Favre basically told Childress to farg himself. Childress has no balls to actually pull the rip cord so now he looks like a chump for letting Favre tell him what to do.
And then word came out that Childress wanted to bench him for changing a play call from run to pass in the Packers game at the Metrodome.
i don't know who is the bigger douchebag. favre sounds more and more like a whiney funhole who got his hoyda in a bunch because they lost a game.
childress on the other hand needs to realize that he's a joke of a coach and if brett favre thinks the play should be changed at the los, then it might be a good idea to change the farging play. favre might be a farging tool but dook didn't break nearly all passing records on accident.
i wonder where childress got his attitude from. lucky for his old boss, he hired a yes man of a qb that doesnt back talk.
I'd love nothing more than to see the Vikings lock in their playoff position by the last week and have Chilly "rest" favre, there by breaking his iron man streak. That would be great.
Favre is such a bitch
QuoteReport: Childress, Favre at odds over offense
Posted by Mike Florio on December 23, 2009 12:38 PM ET
We decided to take a 12-hour break from posting anything regarding the Childress-Favre feud because, really, there's nothing new to say about it.
But the 12 hours are up, and there's something new to say, courtesy of the network that will milk this cow until 24 hours after Monday night's game between Minnesota and Chicago has ended.
Ed Werder of ESPN has gotten inside the heads of Brad Childress and Brett Favre, and Werder reports that the tension arises from disagreement regarding the influence each man should have in the offense.
Werder, who cites multiple team sources in support of his report, claims that the talk regarding the possible removal of Favre from multiple games arises not from a desire to protect Favre, but from Favre's tendency to change the plays that have been called.
(Given the subtle pro-Favre tone of the report and Werder's history of interviewing Favre and lack of history specifically covering the Vikings, it's not a stretch to conclude that Favre is one of Werder's sources.)
Werder also reports that Favre resents that Childress "seldom" discusses the game plan with Favre, and that Childress rarely asks for Favre's input. And when Favre changes the play, Childress "bristles," even when the audible works.
By taking the situation public, Childress is now powerless to remove Favre under the guise of protecting him, or for any other reason. So Favre is running the show in Minnesota, and nothing Childress says or does can change it.
His best bet, then, would be to enjoy the fact that Favre's performance has removed Chilly from a very hot seat, resulting in a long-term extension. And while Brett is running the offense the way he sees fit, Childress can spend his free time trying to figure out how he'll regain the confidence and respect of the players who'll be on the team once Favre is gone.
lol at this drama.

its not his job to respond to espns shteinting reporting
its his job to decide whenever he wants to return or not...and unless given an ultimatum by the team he can pretty much do that whenever he decides...this isnt difficult stuff unless your view is clouded by an awesome hate of the guy...which is the case with faux anger people around the country
in other words he can retire and unretire six times in the next three weeks and it only matters if theres a team or teams out there that allow it...you cant unretire if you dont have anywhere to play
his own Agent called him a drama queen 3 weeks ago. I'll always go back to sure i would love to sit back have beers with the guy, but he's a media queen. i really could care less whether he does or not....but i also dont think hes remotely obligated to anyone to give an answer except to the vikings if they are requiring one...and even then he could still say hes not sure...and at that point they need to move on or continue waiting...its all in their court
i also dont see a media mess...i see espn doing what they do all the time...if it makes you this angry i suggest not watching it...the espn part of it annoys me to a certain degree...but not enough to not watch them
i honestly never watch ESPN anymore unless its a postgame conference or something that is specifically focusing on the Birds/Phils/Flyers I blame Feva

Makes reading this thread a little more palatable.
I believe this, especially Favre's comments, qualifies as irony. (http://espn.go.com/blog/nflnation/post/_/id/26499/javon-walker-is-pure-flyer-material)
Quote"If Javon wants to know what he quarterback thinks, and I would think he might, I'd tell him he's going about this the wrong way. When his agent tells him not to worry about what his teammates think and all that stuff, I'd tell him I've been around a long time and that stuff will come back to haunt you."
"I just don't see much good that can come from it. If it gets time for the start of training camp and he's not in, I think it'll start bothering him, and he'll be here. But once again, nothing should surprise you."
"We've got guys who'll give great effort. Stars are made that way. Look at what happened when Sterling [Sharpe] left. Robert Brooks stepped up. We can win without him."
"Nowadays you're seeing more and more guys pulling that stunt. If guys continue to do that and are successful getting away with it, then I'll be gone, but I think the game will be ruined. My reaction to Javon's situation was, 'Here we go again.'
"Javon has tremendous potential. We got to see some of that last year. The sky's the limit for that guy, and I'd be the first to defend him, but he's going about it the wrong way. What happened to honoring your contract and saying, 'Let's work as a team to see if we can get this done?' Why not go about it that way?"
"Maybe I'm old-school, but I always thought you honor a contract. Sure, sometimes guys pass you up in salary, and maybe it's a lesser player, but it's all based on what a team has as far as value in that person. "I sure hope the Packers don't give into him."
I remember that (2005 right?), one of my first pieces of evidence in my "Favre is a raging dbag" argument while everyone still thought he walked on water. This then followed comments on Aarron Rodgers. Basicly he answered the question "How will you mentor this guy" with "F this kid, no on ever helped me out" (some paraphrasing) with then John Madden slobering all over his knob about what a great leader Favre is by teaching by example.
Yep.
That was about the time I started to loathe the guy too.
I hope he plays the whole year and they dont make the playoffs and throws more picks than touchdowns.
I don't really know why, but when he gave up the free sack to :=), that's when it hit me that I really wasn't a Favre fan. Before that i didn't really give a shtein either way.
Oh, thats a good one. It didn't start the venom with me (I was too busy hating on Down Low Strahan), but I definatly was pissed at him.

The biggest reason he came back is for a SB and simply to pad his stats for career leaders. If it weren't for that, bitch would have taken the money and put himself on IR after week 2.

What a farging tool. The injury actually happened last year.....you know, when Favre was playing. Not to mention that Rice didn't have his surgery until after Favre came back. So if having Rice is so important, maybe he should have asked the Vikings how Rice was doing before deciding to come back.

Favre faces more allegations from his New York days
Posted by Mike Florio on October 8, 2010 7:21 PM ET
Earlier tonight, our friends Adam Schein and Chris Carlin of SNY's Loudmouths asked me whether the NFL will discipline Vikings quarterback Brett Favre in the wake of the new evidence indicating that Favre possibly exposed a former Jets in-house sideline reporter to unwanted advances and/or inappropriate photos via text message. I told them that, even though the NFL has now acknowledged that it's looking into the situation, the absence of any evidence of a pattern of misconduct likely would preclude discipline under the league's Personal Conduct Policy.
So much for the absence of a pattern.
Deadspin's exposure of Favre's alleged exposure apparently has prompted one of the Jets' former massage therapists to come forward with an account of Favre pursuing two massage therapists -- and eventually sending them "nasty" text messages.
The husband of one of the women took offense, and supposedly dialed the number from which Favre sent the text messages. "I called him on his phone and told him I wanted an apology," the man told A.J. Daulerio of Deadspin. "He acted all arrogant. He refused to apologize."
The couple claims they contacted a lawyer regarding a potential sexual harassment case, but they were told that, because the women are contractors and not employees, they could not pursue the matter. (Maybe they should have talked to a better lawyer; the specific status a person holds in a workplace doesn't provide immunity from the sexual harassment laws. Otherwise, everyone would hire contractors and the business world would be Sterling Cooper Draper Whoremonger all over again.)
The couple also claims that the text messages have been saved, and that they have not yet decided whether to go public.
If they do, the NFL will have no choice but to expand the investigation to include these new contentions.
Lolz. This could get really cool. >:D Is Tiger Favre too much to hope for?

I think it has less to do with protecting Favre than it has to do with the big media outlets not wanting to "legitimize" Deadspin. The same thing happens when stories get broken by the National Enquirer.
Well they have Steger's allegations, other members of the Jets organization, and voicemail messages that sound an awful lot like Favre. All it took for the Sainz crap to break was a second party overhearing comments. I think it's 100% the media trying to protect Favre's middle America 'Good Ole Boy Brett' image.

Also, Childress telling the media after the game that he nearly benched him. This could get really fun, and really... It's exactly what Favre himself deserves and what Minnesota deserves for letting him dictate the terms of their entire offseason.
his post pressers are worse than reids...and its tough to say that.
how incredible would it be if that streak ended because of a coaches decision
I heard Chilly went in on Favre. Something about Favre not following the plays?
Well, it's going to have to, because Favre clearly won't take himself out of the lineup. Hell, he was hobbling like a cripple but wouldn't even let the trainers look at him. He really is the ultimate drama queen. But again, Childress farged this up in the off-season. Frankly, he should have traded for McNabb or gone with Jackson and drafted a QB of the future instead of hoping against hope that Favre would take a massive pile of money and play well for another season. So, he got what he wanted when Favre came back but is now losing the other bet big time, since #4 looks really farging old.

In his mind, if he sucks and fargs up, it will be because he's a warrior going out there with an injury trying to help his team, but all because of the owie. QuoteFavre on Childress: "I know what's expected of me. I don't need him or anyone else to tell me that."
Posted by Mike Florio on October 27, 2010 1:39 PM ET
Near the end of a low-key Wednesday press conference during which Vikings quarterback Brett Favre addressed the status of what he called on at least one occasion his "broke foot" (they should have had a banjo player in the room to set the right mood), Favre addressed the public criticism that coach Brad Childress lobbed Brett's way after Favre's three-pick performance against the Packers.
Favre projectred a calm, flat demeanor, but he seemed to get a little pissy when uttering the words that we selected for the headline of this item.
"Every coach is different," Favre said of Childress. "Emotions run high for players and coaches. I can't disagree with some of his comments. I'd be the first to tell you there's plays that I should have made, plays that maybe I should have read things differently. So on and so forth. And I can go back throughout my whole career and say that.
"We had a talk yesterday, not necessarily about that. But just injury, things in general. I wanted to address to him that I would like to play, or at least had that mindset as the week progresses. I think we've been able to talk about things. Do we necessarily agree? No. But I think that's part of it. You know, so i think both of our intentions are to win, and we gotta get this on track. We know that. How we get there remains to be seen. But as long as we're both focused on the right prize, that's all that matters.
"I didn't come here hoping to get along with Brad any more or less than I did last year or whatever. He's the head coach. I'm the quarterback. I know what's expected of me. I don't need him or anyone else to tell me that. My intentions are to do that and help this team win. So that doesn't mean we have to agree all the time."
Favre also addressed at length his "broke foot", at times almost boasting about his ability to recover quickly from injuries.
"I've been able to play with different types of injuries that most people wouldn't have even attempted," he said.
And it's not about the streak. (Which likely means it's about the streak.) "I'm very proud of the streak, but it probably should have ended a long time ago," Favre said.
He said he wants to play the whole game, not just a few plays. The decision will come, Favre said, at any time -- "pregame, right before kickoff, tomorrow."
He also addressed the perception that this injury will provide cover for a graceful exit to Mississippi. "This could easily be an injury where I say, 'I'm gonna slip under radar, see you later,'" Favre said. "And people may think that."
Favre said that's not the case. He claims he's even more committed to helping the team win.
Our guess? Favre will start. If he sputters or if he gets injured, we'll see Tarvaris Jackson.
So the streak will continue. Though Favre claims he has lost track of the number, he surely realizes that starting each of the next nine games will push his run to 300
That's a number that any other player in the present or future has a better chance of reaching by bowling while blindfolded.
He's neat.

ol' brett's just havin' fun, he's like a kid out there

it was pure drama, he acted like he was dead
All he needed was his blanky and the trainer running his fingers through his hair to make that scene complete.

QuoteVick Isn't Reid's First Former Atlanta Falcons QB Reclammation Project
I had never thought about this, but Michael Vick's resurrection as a franchise quarterback must be deja vu for Andy Reid. This is the second former Altanta Falcons quarterback, who Reid has seen put his career back together. Reid was on the staff in Green Bay when they acquired a young quarterback who had been a second-round pick for the Falcons.
Former Green Bay Packers quarterback Don Majkowski was on a Chicago radio station this morning and he talked about losing his job to a young Brett Favre after the Pack acquired Favre from the Atlanta Falcons for a first-round draft pick.
He talked about some of the stories which followed Favre to GreenBay. Majkowski told a story about Favre missing the Falcons team picture because he slept in after getting hammered the night before. According to another source I have, Favre was out every night and getting plastered.
One of the keys of his trade to Green Bay was that the bars didn't stay open after 9 or 10 pm in Green Bay. Mike Holmgren and the Packers staff felt they could sober him up if they brought him to a small town.
Majkowski told stories about a drunk Favre chasing one of the secretaries for the Falcons around the team's Christmas party. He said Favre made such a fool out of himself that year that Atlanta's coaches didn't see him ever being a successful NFL quarterback.
The Atlanta Falcons coaching staff couldn't keep Favre sober. They said he was going to through the motions as a backup and he went out every night and got trashed.
After listening to that story by Majkowski, Favre's crazy behavior with the Jets wasn't the first time he went after one of the female employees of a team he was playing for.
Favre's story shows us again that a player can be terrible at one place but a great player in another situation. Many times a talented player wants to show everybody that they aren't as bad as they were in the previous location.
Brian Cashman, talking about Pettitte's indecisiveness for pitching this year:
Quote"Being from Texas and having to be in New York for six months out of the year can be hard because he has kids and he's missing important time with them. He's opting not to play right now but that might change, it might not. I told him, 'Don't Brett Favre us. You got to be all in and fully dedicated to play.' Do I need him? I need him, but I don't want him to play if his heart's not in it."

hardly mentioned at all during the game = best part and obviously an intentional move of respect to rodgers by fox
Rodgers was SB MVP, something Favre never got.
love it
but i was expecting more
btw this win makes favre's efforts to rehabilitate his reputation in wisconsin infinitely harder
still weak but keep em coming....
Watching ESPN last night was nauseating they still had to bring up how Brett was better than Rodgers. Really? Last night of all times....dude was just Super Bowl MVP.

Colts owner Jim Irsay joked on Twitter about being in Hattiesburg. You're all welcome for the bump.
He's going to coach HS football in his hometown. I hope he's more decisive with playcalling than he was with his retirment. Otherwise, that team will never get out of the huddle. Bazinga!
It's been said that he's looking forward to working with teenagers though since they also enjoy texting pictures of their junk to one another. Heeeey Ohhh!
But he is nervous about interacting with teens again and isn't sure if he'll be able to communicate with them effectively so he's bringing in his former teammate, Mark Chmura to assist. Boom goes the dynamite.
Don't quit your day job. Oh wait, ...
zing!

The red Solo cup never goes out of style, however.
the luv my eagles sign goes out of style after playoff games
