No, the name Romes.
Anyways...I'm working with an agent and his name is Richard but he prefers to go by Dick. I know that's usually the case with older men. But, when they were growing up...did the word dick, not mean dick? Why do the 'prefer' to be called this instead of richard? or rich even? I know we have one richard on this board. Have you gone through this dick dilemma? Anyone else care to take a stab at this?
As long as your last name isn't Munch, Smoker or Holster, you should be ok using Dick instead of Richard.
It's better than Cock. Whoever came up with that nickname for Richard anyway? "Hmm....Richard.....how about we call him Dick for short - has a better ring then 'Hey Purple-headed warrior, what do you feel like for dinner?'"
I love that avatar.

There was a Marine in KC I worked with and his name was Richard Slyder. If I ever go into porn, that's going to be my stage name. Dick Slyder.

Sorrry, did you say something? I was captivated by your avatar and must have missed it.
"Dick!, oh I'm sorry, Rich...will milk be made available to us?"

My mom taught with a guy named Dick Knipple (yeah, the k's silent).
I had an Uncle Dick when I was growing up... never could understand why he preferred that.
One Dave Letterman story I heard (I think it was Letterman) is when he had Richard Cheney on his show. Mr Chaney comes out after the introductions and says "Actually Dave, I prefer Dick..."
Sales Rep I know has the name Rodney Kum. Kum Pronounced koom. He prefered Rod which made it funnier...
I had a boss for a while with the last name Cock. British dude.
Ok, I'll say it.
Rusty Kuntz.
Shazaam!
What came first, Dick or "dick"? (http://www.straightdope.com/mailbag/mdick.html)
I'd add to that explanation that back before people started coming up with smartass descriptive terms like and one-eyed trouser snake and soldier with the purple helmet, the penis was foremost associated with maleness and was thus given male slang names, like peter and john thomas. And 'dick'.
Right now I work with a guy named Richard Pullen. When he introduced himself, he said "Don't you dare call me Dick." :-D
When you meet a guy like that, make sure to ask him if his parents were stupid, cruel, or both.

A long time ago, I was introduced to a new co-worker named "Rich". First thing I ever said to him was, "Hi Rich...can I can you Dick?" Dude took a swing at me on the spot. :-D We ended up being pretty good friends eventually.
That's funny. I can't imagine why anyone would want to take a swing at you. Seriously. You seem so friendly.
My old high school buddy's name is Rich. When somebody would greet him with, "Hi, Dick!"...his response was usually, "Hi, a$$hole!"
[IGY]Worst thread ever.[/IGY]
