Reed gets a lot of press for a guy who played one season and might never come back.
Hopefully its all good news...he was sorely missed this year.
Update me bitches!
Can we all just give up on this guy yet? Seriously, the dude has nerve damage and will probably never play football again. It's over.

JR Reed will be the only player in NFL history who gets intimidated by this....

so you're saying he's "on the fence" whether he'll be back in an Eagles uniform?

For motivation Harbaugh should show him this picture before every kick off return.
that's so wrong, but funny at the same time

Bad joke :evil
seriously.. is the guy retiring yet. i remember the last update was way less then promising. even if he does come back, i have a feeling he's just going to be slow and useless for half a season, until we bench him.
Did anyone catch it? Seems to me that the dude is done no matter what he says about his current condition anyway. His leg is farged permanently.
Also, :-D to Wingspan.
I had never before JR's biography on the PE.com site. The guy is freakin' impressive. National Honor Society. Dual enrollment as a senior. Engineering Major. Degree in Management info technology. I never realized he was a braniac who returned kicks like a madman. God what a horrible loss. Evidently he recently spoke at an urban elementary school about the importance of a back-up plan. That doesn't sound to promising vis a vis his football career.
Liver can regenerate. So does skin and intestines. Nerves don't regenerate. If they aren't too damaged, they can heal. His were (apparently) severed. He should be happy his leg could compensate enough to use the leg at all and move on.

Irony, much?

Quote"vis a vis"
should never be used, ever, when discussing a football related topic. >:(

Correct me if I'm wrong, but I thought his nerves were stretched (to the point of near non-function), not severed. If they were severed I don't think there would be much discussion...
Search me, I never heard the term "stretched". Nerves run in several channels down the leg. My understanding was that he tore (or severely damaged) one of those channels. That leaves the other nerve clusters to compensate, allowing him to walk, but I seriously doubt he'll ever have his football speed again.
did anyone ask him if he was "on the fence" about playing again?

I can't find a reference, but that sticks in my head anyway. Looks like a recent article (http://www.philly.com/mld/dailynews/sports/13734007.htm) has him scheduled for a surgery to "bypass" the nerve.
I didn't get a chance to see the segment, but someone on EMB that saw it and recorded it said that the nerve was stretched and he's scheduled for another surgery soon, hoping to rehab for the upcoming season....

Who am I kidding? I don't care who you are, that's funny. :-D

Yeah, my memory was that basically the muscle got caught on the fence and he was hanging from the flesh, and the weight of his body stretched and damaged the nerve.
The Eagles can't count on J.R. Reed to contribute in any way whatsoever ever again. If he comes back and wins a job as a backup safety and/or kick returner, great, but I won't be holding my breath at all.
