I live less than 5 miles away from the base and the side of the base I live on happens to be the same side of base where they have the artillery and tank ranges. There's a public road that goes through this portion of the base and there are signs posted along the shoulder that say "Live artillery flying overhead" I always know when the cannon cockers are sending rounds down range because I can hear the explosions and the ground vibrates on impact. Sometimes my entire house shakes and it feels like I've got arty rounds landing in my front yard and it makes me wonder sometimes what would happen if someone read off incorrect grid coordinates. I wonder if those things could actually reach my house? If so, I hope they land on my neighbor's house because she's a bitch.
I guess it depends on your relationship with the teams firing the weapons.
Don't know them. I only know a couple of guys in artillery and 2 of them are in Iraq and the other is out in Cali.
They're out firing right now and there was one a few minutes ago that felt like it was knocking on my front door. I answered it hoping it was the pizza guy. But there was no pizza. :-\
I suggest changing to shaken Martinis.
i hope it does
Zip it spider boy.
You should be worried that your tax money goes to cops like this (http://www.ebaumsworld.com/videos/cop-loses-car.html)
ur the effin marine, what the hell do common civilians like us know about morter rounds. we're just simple people.
ok well u want my advice...go to the bar after work, get hammered, go home passout and do it all over again. u won't have to deal with it and you'll sleep like a baby when they go off.
kinda like how u would deal with a woman...very similar

:-D Dumbass.
Anyone dumb enough to leave their car in neutral when they get out has absolutely no room to lecture anyone about driving safety. I wonder if he ended up wrting them a ticket.

The easiest suggestion would be to find out the range of the artillery used and the location the guns are actually posted. Supposedly green guys are succeptible to error. A mate of mine had to walk home from the artillery observation bunker after the rookies decided that their transports (and the bunker) would make better targets then the ones they were to aim at. Luckily the guys who built the bunkers had thought of this eventuality. Also had life rounds land within a 100 yards during life fire exercises.... also by mistake (should have stayed roughly 300 yards away at least).
Guessing that the real heavies have ranges of 20 plus miles I would say that your house could become the unwilling object for artillery practice.
considering a school somewheres in jersey got strafed by a jet not to long ago, i wouldn't consider it out of the realm of possibility. better start reinforcing that roof.
Better yet, get your own mortar and let them know you are prepared to return fire.

I like this suggestion, except for the "letting them know" part. They don't warn you.

Excellent suggestion. I'll check the black market this weekend.
Could you pick me up some of those novelty targets while you're there?
