Has anyone ever purchased one after you bought a truck? I'd like to get one for cargo protection and also they are supposed to help with gas mileage. If anyone can help a wigga out, it'd be nice.

LMFAO. Wouldn't it be great if white folk started calling each other wigga? Ha!!
You looking for a canvas cover or a cap? With the former, you'll def. gain better gas mileage. With the latter, too..but the extra weight will cut into the savings.
I bought a used cap for my '97 Tacoma in '99 cheap (red cap on a white truck) and it went on like a charm. Forget the brand..one of the standard names. I was very happy with it.
dont know anything about truck cover... but I do know you need to get some motherfargin Rhino Lining!
I got the rhino liner. Im up in the air on a Cap or a Cover. Caps are a pain because they have huge blindspot, but you have additional space for more cargo. My though would be to go for a snap cover or a fiberglass, lift top cover.
Yea i got one priced at Toyota for a soft cover and they said 349 plus installation. farg that. I am sure I can find a decent used one or even a new ne cheaper that I can install myself.
Leer is a good company to buy from, one of the top brands. The canvas ones are the best if you are going to be taking it on and off to haul bigger stuff, but the fiberglass tonneau covers are real nice. They seal the bed from the elements, and will improve the gas mileage the most out of all your choice, most people think they are the nicest looking too. If you are looking to buy a cap, don't be afraid to spend a little extra. Cheap ones are pieces of shtein that will be nothing but headaches. Here are some sites you can use to look for one you like:
Leer. Nice stuff.

Is it possible to fall in love with an avatar? By love I mean masturbate yourself bloody. So, I guess I answered my own question.
I'm a big fan of Mythbusters. They wanted to test the theory of whether putting down the tailgate saves gas. It didn't, in fact it was much more wasteful. With the tailgate up and the bed uncovered, you get some sort of cyclic air flow which improves gas mileage (not a physicist, so didn't follow that part....).
oh reh heh heheeeeeally :sly

Indeed - very cool episode. They set up a mini wind tunnel to demonstrate (actually water) showing how the design works. Then they went a step further and tested the theory - two identical trucks with full tanks of gas, and the one with the tailgate up went an additional 30-50 miles.
