I wonder how Bush will do with that oline disaster and a QB who doesn't even have time to hand off the ball most of the time?
Maybe they think they can stock the oline in FA, ala the Giants a few years ago?
They can now trade Dom Davis for some picks and get some o line help.
They could always pick up Runyan. They've had great success with aging tackles.
Why would they take Young anyway? They picked up Carr's option you know.
Pfft. It's a long time between now and the draft.
Does anyone actually believe this? I mean its possible for the Texans to get Bush, but as of right now its probably a smokescreen.
good for them.
no shtein.
If Davis become a pretty good back behind that line then Bush definitely can.
I'm not buying it yet. Although if they did it would be no big shocker, but I think they're going to entertain trade possibilities and wait until they get a HC to lock in to the pick.
I love the NFL draft as an event, but what i can't stand is how every player has serious tragic flaws all of the sudden. these personnel guys have too much time to dissect every minute detail of a kids life and all they are doing is trying to figure out a reason why not to take them.
by the time the draft rolls around Reggie Bush is going to be undersized, not a full-time player, Vince Young is going to be a great athelete who can't throw, and Matt Leinhart is not going to have enough arm strength
It's already started, Mo.
Peter King had a note in his MMQB today where he pointed out the fact that Bush has only had 1 20+ carry game in college and wonders if that'll affect him.
I agree with people scrutinizing everything characterwise about a player. Because you have to know whether the guy you're fixin' to hand millions of bucks to has his head on right or if he's going to take $3M of his signing bonus and invest in the drug trafficking trade.
But one thing I wish pro-personnel guys did was look at on the field talent. I like how Belichick and Pioli take "football players". They see how a guy does in between the lines and draft him on that most of the time (unless he's a knucklehead). Look no further than guys like Dan Klecko or how he took Watson and Graham in the 1st rounds in different years or even Tom Brady. They have guys like that littered all over their roster.
Don't forget about Deion Branch and Mike Vrabel :-\
rumor on SI.com that the Packers love Lendale White and would take him at #5.
I almost wish the Eagles had a top 3 pick and needed a QB. Vince Young would look good in an Eagles uniform.

That would be retarded. Actually, saying that is an insult to retards everywhere.

Dude. He is going to be useless for a couple of years and I wouldn't be surprised if he is never worth a damn in the pros.
that depends on if you think Samkon Gado is starting material, cause he is penciled in there last I read.

I could'nt disagree with you more.
He's got bust written all over him. Its gonna be great watching him crash and burn.

Look no further than Michael Vick. "The Most Exciting Player in the Game." Got the same kind of praise and attention coming out of college, and to this day, he is a sub-par QB. The amount hits, judging by this year, may be starting to take a toll as well.
I'm not saying if you are picking in the top three you don't take a chance, but I'd still take Bush or Leinhart. Taking the quarterback who depends on running more than his arm is risky IMO.
Vince Young might suck or he might be good. One interesting thing is that he has drastically improved his passing the past year. He ranked 3rd in D1 in passer rating this past year. link (http://sports.espn.go.com/ncf/sortables?stat=pass&sort=rat&season=3&year=2005&group=80). A few spots higher than Leinhart and Quinn.
The Texans SHOULD be saying they're going to take Reggie Bush in the hopes someone's willing to trade up, leaving the top OL the priority. Who knows with coaching changes, what they're thinking.
He's bigger and more durable than Vick. And, he can pass the ball with accuracy. He's gonna be good.
He's going to suck. Hard. Book it.
He has the worst passing motion I've seen since Bernie Kosar. He seems more put together than Vick, but he's going to run at the first sign of trouble. A project at best.

Fair point. Given how early in the off season this is, and how incomplete the decision making team in Houston is at present, I'm hard pressed to believe they know exaclty what they're going to do.
If they have any brains in their head they will trade down for Ferguson if they can, and if they can't they'll take him with the top pick. They have a good running back and have invested in three major offensive weapons that they can't use because their QB is on his back every other snap. Bush would be a moronic pick.
i think they'll trade down....their best player is a RB so bush makes absolutely no sense for them.
i also think they'll wind up with runyan.

Runyan is still good. The Eagles should consider keeping him.

Well put, dude.
:yay
Plus anyone named "D'Brickshaw" should automatically be drafted first. I mean, jesus, looks like someone just threw a bunch of letters together and said "I'm gonna name my baby that!"
Somewhere, some nerd is using that for a D&D character name. And it's not me.

I've been saying to those idiots on the other MB that I expect the Texans to do just that. I don't take Houston's comments to be much more than a smokescreen at this point opening up the option for trades. They don't even have a coach and Casserly is on relatively thin ice himself so I doubt, he's making any snap decisions right now... let alone a decision concerning the top pick in the draft.
Like I've been saying for 2 weeks -- I am betting that the Jets end up with Bush.

Mike and Mike were talking about this today on the way into work. It makes sense to me that with the five pick, and with all the needs the Packers have, after Bush, Young, Leinhart, and Ferguson are gone, they are just trying to drum up interest in their picking White at the five spot so maybe someone will want to reach and trade down, and give the Packers more picks early. Which I don't think will happen.

Word. "Thanks for farging us on your way out Chuck!"
by most accounts, Casserly was fired by McNair and it had nothing to do with the Williams pick because the whole organization signed off on it.
Casserly being fired/leaving/whatever was pretty much a forgone conclusion a while back according to PFT
Yeah, Kubiak and McNair endorsed the Mario pick. There's a good inside look at it in this weeks TSN.
I don't doubt that the powers that be agreed with the Williams pick.
But from the general fan perspective, Casserly is the front man for personel decisions... so if the fans are disappointed with not getting Bush, Casserly would face most of the heat.
