Eagles | Team expected to interview Saunders
Thu, 5 Jan 2006 20:47:20 -0800
Tom Silverstein, of the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, reports Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator Al Saunders is expected to interview with the Philadelphia Eagles this weekend.
I don't know why the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel would have the inside on what the Eagles will be doing, but there you have it. Also Bob Brookover said don't expect the Eagles to hire anyone but Marty. I don't know if that is just his opinion or what he heard from someone in the organization. I hope it's Saunders, because it sure doesn't sound like it will be Mooch and I don't like Sherman or Marty.
They were talking about it because they were talking about Packer's coaching candidates. Here is a longer take--by the way, they think that Childress will hire Darrell Bevell, who was the Packers' QB coach either in the same capacity or as OC.

Also, it doesn't appear Sherman is interested in replacing Childress in Philadelphia, where he would be reunited with close friend Andy Reid. Sherman told WTMJ radio Thursday that he was interested in returning to football only as a head coach. The Eagles are expected to interview Kansas City offensive coordinator Al Saunders this weekend
I'm slightly turned on by Al interviewing here...
im glad shermans not interested in coaching here. we already have someone who can call a vanilla game.
al however, interests me. kc doesn't have the best receivers, has a great TE, and a good rb who can catch out of the back field. granted LJ is hardly a great TE and our receivers aren't SB caliber but at least its somewhat comparable to their offense. plus he can teach reid what a run game is.
I would be extremely happy if Reid hired Saunders. Especially if he let him call the plays.

A farging men.
Oh, god. Please let this be true.
GET SAUNDERS!!
Pollyanna! Pollyanna!
You'd have to think that the Eagles would have to offer him that to get him to even consider this job, since he's one of the top names out there for some of the head coaching vacancies...
...and we pray. :evil
The idea of Saunders calling plays gives me a football rager the likes of haven't been seen in almost a year. I feel like a new man.

Anyone think if Saunders were brought in would seriously increase the odds of the Eagles getting a big, bad back? Say......um......LenDale White? :drool
Since I'd LOVE for the Eagles to snatch up Saunders... I can pretty much say that we won't get him.
well I guess we will either find that Reid really is interested in getting some fresh ideas on the offense or if this is just a cosmetic BS interview where they will say Morninwheg is the best option for OC and just promote him. boo.

Exactly. I hope whoever we hire actually gets some playcalling reponsibilities. all of them.

If they interview Saunders and say that Morninwheg is the best option, they are absolutely, without a doubt, full of shtein.
Pfft. You dopes are just setting yourselves for disappointment again.
Reid isn't hiring anyone from outside the organization. He'll stick with Morningwood as his de facto O.C. and retain his playcalling duties.
If you think otherwise, you're a farging chump.
PS: They're not signing any free agents either. The guys "we" have here are fine.
Alright now... calling me a chump is just crossing the line.

Is this one of those reverse-karma type of statements or are you spending too much time babysitting taters?

What if he just called you a sissy girl? Would that be OK?
Reid will without a doubt promote Morningwood. I heard him being interviewed on Comcast this morning, he was raving about how he helped make Young, Favre and Garcia Pro-Bowl QBs. Saunders would be too good to be true.
Well i think we all would love an o-cord who coached a team who fargin RAN THE BALL EFFECTIVELY. Please happen....and we pray....
Yeah, Morningwood was such a great mentor to that up and comer Mike McMahon.
A running game and a blocking scheme is what Saunders would bring and if you ask me those are the two biggest things this offense needs. I would be comfortable with these receivers if I knew the team would actually run the ball and block effectively. Won't happen, but I'm just saying.

Sure Nancy... that'd be OK.

Agree 100%. A running game might make make GLew look like a professional WR.

Let's not get ahead of ourselves here.
Andy said he's going to evaluate everything from the players to the coaches. If he does a thorough evaluation, I don't see how he could keep Marty on the staff. Every decision he told Andy to make bit him in the ass.
Not true. He told Reid to take the chicken salad instead of yogurt for lunch one day. It turns out that yogurt was expired.

They can't all be gold, I guess.
The chicken was a little dry, though.

PG was right. He wasn't named OC. He's the assistant HC/OC.
BOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO
Wack.
So, no real change. Yay.
To make up for this travesty we better see at least 3 big name free agents come here. Not necessarily big price tags, but big names that can help the team.
If not, I wonder how they'd spin an excuse. I have confidence they'll do it though.

Be careful what you wish for. Morningwood is still around to make suggestions.

I would like tot ake this opportunity to stab someone. Thanks.
Stab Morningwood. I know that doesn't sound right, but do it anyway.

TOT AKE, I SAY!
We todd id, Is ay!
Well struck.
<----- Speechless.
Unsurprised. Pissed, but unsurprised.
What does he do anyway? Nothing. And he will do nothing to improve the offense.
I think what I'll do is get a couple of my lazy ass friends hired at my job. I know they ain't shtein but I'll vouch for them anyway. When it's found out that they ain't shtein... maybe I can get promoted.
There's no chance of that happening, right?
Not for you, no.
Just as well... I ain't shtein anyway.
Me either.
Someone else will get promoted because of it.
The fact they didn't even interview anyone else is completely and utterly farging baffling. If he was such a farging shoe-in, why did they just farging fire Childress? Horseshtein. :boom
More than anything I'm pissed off that now I'll have to hold my breath during an overtime coin-toss. :boom
Like we'll ever have an overtime game again.
good to see their loading right back up for another 6-10 season.
From the AP article:
QuoteIt's unlikely Mornhinweg will make significant changes to Philadelphia's offensive philosophy, though he said he'd like to run the ball more.
Saying...doing...not the same, Marty...
What a coincidence. We'd like to run his ass out of town.
All beaucrates screw there constituents....government and NFL not excluded :boom
Get on your Harley and ride out of town just like you did it Detroit's camp, Marty.
BOOOO!
Oohh, this news comes a complete shocker.
so 2 of andy's puppets get promoted and the control freak keeps all his control over EVERYTHING.
yay.
