Posted Reggie's stats in another topic, and it seemed useful, so I'll do it with most of the rooks who got some paying time. I'll list the Eagles draft picks by round, and try to give a decent cross section of players drafted near them (minimum of five).

Nothing for McCoy. He played in a total of four games, no recorded defensive stats. I'll try to find something on special teams.

There were a butt load of DEs taken before Trent Cole, he was listed as an OLB coming out of the draft. Most of the DEs drafted after the first round didn't get much playing time, so I'll compare Cole to guys that were taken in the first and second rounds. Due to schemes some guys, such as Ware, are listed as playing LBs. They got lumped in.

The sad thing is that I work for the government, so think of it like this: You pay me to do this shtein. :deion
Actually, I started to fool with it over the weekend to gauge how the Eagles really did in the draft, I was surprised to see given touches and playing time, most of the picks stacked up really nice with players that went much higher in the draft. Christ, just look at what Cole did. He was second in production to Demarcus Ware, who was a beast.
i'm in dc too, and work for a gov't contractor, so i pay you to do nothing so you can contract that out to me. it's really a marvelous way of running things.
I guess I should have you do it and then I could take the credit. Get back to work contractor! These are billable hours!
We should temper our excitement about Reggie Brown with the reminder that he would never have had such good stats if Pink weren't injured and TO weren't kicked to the curb. He got an artificially high amount of work on account of chance, so it's not exactly comparing apples to apples when you compare his stats against other rookies who got their work without an assist from injury.
That being said, Dio, he still took pretty good advantage of that, considering he had Mike McMahon throwing to him in half the games, scared out of his wits by the consistent pass rush allowed by the rookie OL.
Agreed. The kid looks good.
good stuff PhillyPhaninDC. Hadnt really thought about Patterson vs some of the other DT's.

I see your point Dio, but I don't really agree. Granted, with TO and Pinky out, Brown was forced to produce. There were no other recieving threats for opposing teams #1 CBs to pay attention to. Going against top-flite starting corners with GLew, Wilbur and McCants, the only other wide-outs, I think it speaks more for Reggie's performance. Alot of the WRs didn't start as the number ones (most didn't finish that way) but they were so highly touted coming out of the draft they most likely recieved at least some upgraded defensive attention in the opposing teams gameplan.
**Edit, didn't add anything about the bum QB tossing him the ball, but MMH nailed that.
I particularly like the Microsoft Excel format of the stats. ...how "Accountant" of you :P
Either I couldn't figure it out, or the "table insert" options are farged. Being the constant complainer that I am, I am going to assume it is the latter.
is there anything less important than nfl stats...especially on the defensive side of the ball
that said patterson brown and cole look to be quality gets

don't forget about your favorite player, McCoy
I'm much more optimistic about this group of Eagles rookies than I have been about previous drafts. The results from the 2003 and 2004 drafts aren't looking so good. There was only great pick from the 2001 draft too, and he now plays for the Oakland Raiders.

As the official sponsor of Mike Patterson, I would like to note that the best is surely yet to come.
