Title: NFL Primetime is staying
Post by: The BIGSTUD on December 07, 2005, 05:02:20 PM
I don't know if anyone here heard the rumor that NFL Primetime will be canned due to NBC getting Sunday Night Football rights in 2006. Apparently NFL Primetime is staying, but will air on monday 12 am EST instead of it's usual 7:30 EST time slot. This is nothing outrageous because they air NFL Live on monday nights past 1 am.

That was the plan all along as far as I knew.  With the new contracts NBC has exclusive rights to highlights on Sunday night until after thier game.  So the plan the whole time was for Primetime to air at midnight.

*giddy*

I did hear Berman say last week "after this season, PrimeTime as you know it won't be the same"

its not the same as being on at 730 after all the afternoon games, but at least having the same format with the same two guys will do.  :yay

Sweet.

I was hoping we wouldn't have to deal with Bob Costas and Cris Collinsworth too much.

Too bad NBC's playing around with the idea of having Collinsworth calling the plays.

Thankfully they do AFC games so we won't have to deal with him too much.

Sunday Night Football's going to be just AFC teams next year?

My bad...for some reason I was thinking that NBC was taking over the AFC like the old days.

But then again....since the Eagles suck this year we won't likely get a lot of primetime games.

I prefer midnight because at 7:30 I like to eat dinner, watch Eagles post game live. At midnight NFL Primetime will be the only thing on at the time that I'd want to watch.

NBC and the NFL get to move any Sunday afternoon game they want to Sunday night in the second half of the season. Hopefully they'll be moving the Eagles into primetime instead of out of it.

Thats right NBC doesnt have an announcer yet. They got Madden, I doubt he likes the idea of working with Collinsworth. Chris was set to be the studio guy with Costas, they just need to find an announcer. Maybe Marv Albert, but could he juggle MNF on radio, TNT games and Nets games? Ah...no.

Marv would also have to juggle his colorful personal life, too. YES!

why are people failing to see the obvious that you can just watch the NBC highlight show before the sunday night game?

because people like primetime and dont like change...and its almost guaranteed that nbc's show will not be half as good

highlight are highlights as far as i am concerned. maybe NBC will make funny little nicknames too.

although i will say, i laughed at bermans latest for the 1st time since najah davenport....with his Sage Rosenfels highlight of "NEXT QUESTION!"

The only thing good about NFL Primetime are the highlights packages.  Everything else is fluff.  Only the Jaws segments where he breaks down film are OK.  The NFL Network highlights and stats stuff is better than Primetime.
