Under the Reid/Johnson regime, is trading for a sizeable linebacker with sound pass coverage abilities a realistic possibility, or perheps the drafting of a young 'backer with demonstrative potential?
Perhaps I'm asking the wrong question?
im all for it. adams can go back to special teams, get rid of simoneau, give dhani one more year to prove himself and get levon kirkland. the only way i would draft a LB is if he's 1st round material and or top 3 linebackers outta collge. i'd rather get a proven veteran on a 2 year deal, help us get back to the superbowl.
oh and lick my balls
It's team policy that they:
A) Don't spend big moolah on an LB. Adding a guy like Peterson to our D would probably take us to an elite status, but there's zero chance of that happening. So don't get your hopes up.
B) No way they spend a first rounder on an LB. Trot's the MLB for the next two seasons and JJ likes his WILs fast and small. Hopefully McCoy develops, if not we'll probably be wasting another 2nd rounder on some useless OLB with speed.
Adams is only under contract for 1 more season and probably won't be back next season (I'm assuming at this point of his career he'll want a starters role).
Levon Kirkland? Kill him and Barry Gardner.
IMO they could end up with AJ Hawk :o ;D ;D
This is how seriously the Eagles take the LB position:

levon kirkland was the man and u know it chuggie. 300 lbs of pass defending force.

I was waiting for this pix to resurface after the play of Jones and Adams recently.
Man if the birds picked this guy back up could you imagine the mad scramble for his sponsorship?

That's a shame because we all know now, thanks to the board pharmacist, that all white-skinned LB's suck.

ha!
Put Adams back as special teams monster and forget him starting. Blast Dhani to the moon.
Trade McNabb for Derrick Johnson.
It's Kevin Johnson, dingus.

From an earlier conversation... ;)

A guy who is on the record as saying that all white linebackers suck can't complain about racism
white linebackers suck...black people dont
marvin gaye rocked....his dad didnt
...and that referenced an even earlier conversation.
One LB who is having an impressive year is Angelo Crowell of the Bills, who tookk Takeo Spikes' place. He's going to be a RFA after the season, but he was also a 3rd round pick of the Bills.
On a side note, JJ, in today's Inky says he feels bad for Barry Gardner being so vilified after Joe Jurevicious burned him for that big reception against the Eagles three years ago. He said the backside help--namely Bobby Taylor, had disappeared.
Not to mention the fact that Bline Bishop also admitted later he shouldn't have evn been on the field because of a severe groin injury that limited his mobility.
I watched [and almost cried doing so] a breakdown of that game. To put it blunt, Gruden schooled JJ that day. He was getting favorable matchups on our D all day and JJ didn't adjust till it was too late. (and yes, it hurts to criticize JJ but he's not above it)
Oh come on , Keith can't be that bad

Correct sir! Birds were totally outcoached. Plus let's not forget what a horrible day DMac had. That was ugly.
Brad's Johnson owned us that night. :paranoid
Watching that Raider game last night it looks like Kirk Morrison - the other SDSU LB is the real deal. He was all over the place. I think he was drafted after McCoy. Typical.
Yeah, the Eagles were really high on both of them to be honest.
But they took McCoy.
Morrison = 4th round
Shawn Cody, the other USC DT who was drafted after Patterson, has also looked very good. Long-term impact analysis of all these players is still a long way away, though.
Odell Thurman is a gaddamn beast.
They put McCoy in with 2:22 left in the game and he never looked back! Anyone catch him LEVELING the TE on the Wallace rollout?
*sigh* That game sucked.
I hope he gets some PT, get Adams and Sim out next game. Let's know what we have when Adams leaves.
I agree. Time to break the shrink-wrap off of McCoy and see if he can make some plays. Why not?
trotter did an excellent job of taking dhani jones out of the play on the engram TD.

Yeah, I liked how he decided to abandon his zone to double-cover someone else's zone.
Double cover someone else from behind. In the end zone. That's great.

apparently there is some reason. probably a stupid one.

It's because he's white... just ask the pharmacist.
according to the pic of him on the Eagles site, he used every article of clothing and equipment possible to hide that fact. ha.
Ha. Yeah, all he needs to do now is pull a Martin Patterson and steal Trotter's jersey and sneak his ass onto the field.
Has a LB had a pick this year?
Dhani had that pick in the 49er game and Trotter had that pick that Simoneau tipped in the SD game. There may be more but that's just off the top of my head.
yeah, thats it for LB INT's.
i can already see next years starting lineup at LB. Simoneau, McCoy, and Chad Greenway. White as all hell.
Then, we'll grab up AJ Hawk and we'll finally pull off the trade for Urlacher. :yay
