Let's get ready for the new season! Please send me a PM whether you intend to play so I can get an idea of how many will be playing. This year, we had 19 players, and I would love to see that number keep going up and up and up.
Most things will stay the same from the 05 season to the 06 season:
- The entry fee remains the same: $20.
- There will be two different winner payments: 1st death will win $20 (split among the number of people who had the first death), and the Top Three places at the end of the game will win the remainder of the pot (split 50%, 35%, and 15% respectively). 100% of the entry fees is paid out as prize money -- the house keeps nothing.
- Points will still be awarded based on age, cause, rank in your list, and unique points.
One major change that will occur in the 06 version is how points will be awarded:
- Rank points will remain the same
- Cause of death will remain the same (although we may modify the cause categories)
- Age points will remain the same
- Unique points will be modified to be lower. The max points a player can get on Uniqueness will be 40.
The current rules can be found by clicking http://www.ghoulpool.us/rules05.htm
The current rules for point values can be found by clicking http://www.ghoulpool.us/points05.htm
Payment must be included prior to December 31st to play. I got burned this year by allowing Brandon Forrest (brandon.forrest@xspedius.com) to pay me in January. As you might have guessed, he never paid even after about 20 requests by me, so I will have to modify the prize distribution for the 2005 winners. That will not happen this year as I make pre-payment 100% required. Feel free to drop him an email and tell him what a jerk he is.
^^bump^^
My list is in the mail and it's a farging doozy.
I was going to join, but James Dungy ended it 10 days earlier than I'd thought.

That's fine, everyone on my list will kick over within the first six months.

Remember the rules, RJS:
Quote8. If you actually cause the death of anyone on your list, you will be eliminated from the game and forfeit your fee.
yeah well, we'll just see about that. are there any rules against killing the people who make and enforce the rules? I DIDN'T THINK SO. Oh snap!
Deadline for lists is today.
shtein, I forgot about it. Whatever. My first name was gonna be Gerald Ford. And I'll be right.

No can do IGY. Deaths start to count as of 12:01 tonight.
Dakota Fanning is on my list. Suck it suckers.
Also, when is the site getting updated?
i spent almost an entire morning making my list one day last week, then left it at work and went away for the weekend. damn it, i had some good ones too.
I spent two weeks on mine. There isn't anyone younger than 97 on my list.
I did mine in about 25 minutes. With the company I work for getting bought by Level 3 and the travel coming up for my wife and I, and everything associated with it, the time flew by. My list is going to SUCK this year.....
Look like we're up and running. (http://ghoulpool.us)

So, are you "Rich" or "Russell"?
He's Russell.
I think I'll call him "The Russ-ster" or "Russ-man" from now on.
I like the new site, btw. Nice improvement over the last one.

Definitely.
PS. Using people's real names on a message board is weak sauce. While I guess it is funny in an odd way, did any of you really want to know that I had a name? Isn't it easier just to look upon rjs246 with disdain as an imaginary trouble maker? You've started down a dangerous path, my friends.
Wah.
You're the dick that submitted his real name from his real email address, not me. Deal with it.
Damn, no more meatcicle filter.
your name is russel.... :-X
Misspelling real names is even awesomer. Wah.
even gayer...russell :-D
Indeed.
It's funny to think that no one else probably would have put 2 + 2 together on this if I hadn't.
So, I guess in a way, I'm sorry. But not really.
He actually gave it away when he said he had Dakota Fanning on his list.
Russell Jekel Simmons
My real name is Judas Blackjack Diomedes

Oh snap! I lost cool points on concrete field. How will I ever live down the shame?
You'll have to buy a big gold chain with a spinner on it.

You can start with not saying "oh snap" there, IGY.
Almost 7000 posts and all anyone can come up with is that I watched my neighbor's dog for a week and my first name is Russell. Well done, schmucks.
Ha, your name is Russell. That's so gay.

I don't know anyone named Russell who gets angry as fast as you do. Russell is a very tranquil sounding name. Try being tranquil.

There's also the leprechaun that tells you to burn things.
Watch out, or we're going to chase rjs away a la NB. Then, where would we be as a message board?

Yep... Brent has been working on this during the weekend. Just a couple of quirks left to be fixed, and we should be good.

Good form.
Abe Vigoda's still alive? He looked 100 in Barney Miller.
