...oh, and farg Dallas.
QuoteDALLAS - Former Dallas Cowboys defensive back Dwayne Goodrich pleaded guilty Tuesday to additional charges in the 2003 hit-and-run deaths of two good Samaritans.
Goodrich, already serving prison time for the deaths, pleaded guilty to three counts for failing to stop and render aid. Convicted in August 2003 and sentenced to 7 1/2 years on two counts of criminally negligent homicide, he was scheduled to stand trial this month on felony charges for fleeing the scene.
Demont Matthews, 23, and Joby Wood, 21, were rescuing a driver from a burning car on Interstate 35 when they were struck by Goodrich's BMW. Goodrich was driving home from a Dallas topless club and left the scene.
Witnesses said Goodrich was traveling more than 100 mph before he veered onto the freeway shoulder to avoid the burning car.
Goodrich told jurors in his earlier trial that a sport utility vehicle blocked his view of the pre-dawn accident. He said he originally believed, or hoped, he had hit debris. Goodrich returned to the scene hours later and then turned himself in.
Goodrich, 27, was the Cowboys' top pick in the 2000 draft, taken 49th out of Tennessee in the second round. But he played only sparingly in three seasons.
Sentencing is scheduled for Jan. 9.
Best. Draft. Pick. Evar.

You're not kidding. I remember reading about it when the whole thing happened, and figured he gets at least 20-25 which would still be pretty light under the circumstances to me.
Then again, look at what happened with Leonard Little.
Or Michael Irvin.
Spare me. Unlike Goodrich and Little, Irvin never killed anyone while under the influence of any intoxicants. The only life he endangered was his own.

Didn't he hold a knife to a hooker's throat, or some shtein?

No, you're probably thinking of when they were getting haircuts in the locker room, they started screwing around and Everett McIver ended up with a cut on his neck from a pair of scissors. It got a lot of pub because of all the garbage he'd gotten himself into, but the league's investigation didn't turn up anything that warranted discipline.
In ways he was just like TO in that he was a football player you wanted on your team, but the distractions he caused the last few years made him a pain the butt as much as anything else. We probably wouldn't have won one title if he was like that from the get go. It's no small wonder the two of them are buddies.
Either way, threatening hookers doesn't count.
