If McNabb is so hurt, how is it possible he leads the entire league in passing yards with 2,338? Obviously, in too many games Reid felt like he did not really enjoy the option of calling any running plays as the team was down by seventeen (17) points in the first quarter.
Even with the constant pressure produced by opposing defenses being able to guess the Eagles are passing with an above normal degree of certainty, McNabb was still able to make plays. He claims his ability to run has been effected by the sports hernia; however, he seems to be able to make plenty of plays while behind the line (granted some of them are stupid like when he took a huge sack in the Chargers game instead of throwing it away), such as breaking away from what would have been a sack to a lesser QB.
If Reid continues to call running plays and the defense plays the way they are capable, then there is no reason the Eagles do not make the playoffs. Go talk to a Bears fan, he will correctly tell you the playoffs are a whole new season. A team with as much post season experience as the Eagles undoubtedly possess a decided advantage.
Sure the Road To The Super Bowl isn't paved with sweet Hoyda, beer, and cigarettes (the holy trinity of goodness) like it was previous years, but it still can be done even with McNabb suffering from the hernia and without Terrell Owens.
We played decent against the Skins and tend to forget that they were at home and were coming off an even more embarrassing loss than we were. To me, Monday Night is put up or shut up time. If we win, I think it will propel us towards a playoff run -- if we lose -- seasons over, we'll probably finish 9-7 and start looking forward to the start of F/A and the draft.
I just don't want to lose to Dallas again.
It's the defense that worries me. Lack of fundamental tackling, complete inability to generate a pass rush with the front four, Lito been abused.
If not for a KC meltdown where they just forgot to cover TO the entire 2nd half, and a miracle FG block/return in the final minutes of the SD game, we're 2-6 and already out of it. The only team we beat solidly was San Fran.
This is a season long trend, and not an encouraging one. We really haven't had a game where the D and O were on for 60 minutes, and it's not looking up, at least not to me. It could happen, but odds are it won't.

That's what I've been saying. It isn't the magic carpet ride of 2004, but this season is in no way a washout.
Those WRs played well on Sunday. And if McNabb can get loose early like he did and if Reid stays with the run I like the Birds chances.
Just get to the playoffs. Anything can happen with an experienced team. Tell me this team wouldn't mop the fargin floor with a Kyle Orton led team in Chicago if they had to play them.
they need to make adjustments. other teams got better.. the eagles probably got worst. the seasons not over just yet.. but lose this monday, and seriously throw in the towel.
and mcnabb has the most passing yards in the league because we pass the most in the league. he probably has the most attempts as well.

That's my biggest thing. If the season's over or not... who cares? We just better beat the farging Cowboys monday night.
McNabb is probably feeling a bit less pressure now that he doesn't have to worry about satisfying Owens on the field. Now, if Reid can get the running game going, we can get back to the way we won games before Owens--spread the field and throw to anywhere from 7-10 different recievers. But that runblocking has to improve. I'm thinking they might activate Jamaal Jackson from the practice squad at center if Frlaey is done for the year; I just wish that they would replace Hicks--he was absolutely abysmal on Sunday night.
This team won't win jack shat if they can't start run blocking and making stops on 3rd & long.

Unfortunately, that would require tackling.
The Eagles CAN NOT lose on Monday.
If they do, I have to fly a Cowboys flag in front of my house for 24 hours.
Stupid bets....
If they do lose... you better re-nig on that one.
Giving up so many third and longs was unforgiveable. And when we opened up by running to the right it worked, and then spent most of the time running to the left behind Tra and Artis farging Hicks. When we went back to the right, they'd wised up and stuffed us on the right hand side too. Start running to the right and if it ain't broke, then don't try to fix it.
