The program alert on ESPN News says "News conference"
I'm just hoping I get to watch it--I don't actually get ESPN News up here, we're getting the feed of it on NESN (basically the Boston version of CSN) because they don't have anything else to show, hopefully they won't cut away at 3
Repost from the "Bye Bye TO" thread:
QuoteI wonder which route they'll go:
1) I apologize to my teammates, the organization, the fans and the city.
2) The Eagles are hypocrites, Dunvun is a hypocrite, Hugh attacked me first, I want my money that is wrongfully being held from me, I want out of my deal immediately so I can play elsewhere with a team that truly wants me.
Tough one...

He is sucking off Donovan.
ANd Reid.
Sucking off Banner and Lurie.
all apologies, to Dunuvan, to Andy Reid, Banner, Lurie, fans, teammates
have to admit this is good...real good
Basically saying he farged up big time. Apologized to the fans of the Eagles for alienating us.
TO:
Waa...I've been suspended and I can't play football any more.
I played hurt in the superbowl
I'm a wonderful person, but by doing what I thought was right I alienated some people
Apologize to fans
Thank players who supported him
Respect to Donovan, apologize for any negative comments
Apologize to Andy. Tough spot, we didn't see eye to eye. You knew you could count on me.
To Banner & Lurie, you were doing what was the best for the team, and I apologize to you as well.
This hurts...blah blah
I want to play...

Mea Culpa Mea Maxi Me Culpa.

Again is it possible that I can stomach TO more than ROsenpuke?

Drew:
Terrell has expressed remorse
He apologized on Saturday, he was genuine and sincere
He is here to make it clear to everyone that he is making an apology
He should play again
We hope he plays again right away against the Cowboys
Terrell did everything he could to apologize and get back on the field
He never meant to hurt anybody
Unfair criticism
He just agreed with [Irvin], he had no intent of his own
Media has not been fair
Druggies aren't punished as seriously, or are criticized
He is a competitor, risked his career for the SB
This is not about him being selfish

My reaction:
TO realizes he's farged, and is trying to make good
I think DR acted the way he did to piss off the Eagles. He does not want him to go back to the team.

That's the beauty of it: DR is trying to kill the Eagles case against TO for the grievance, while still trying to keep him kicked off the team (so he gets his pay day). I still half believe that TO doesn't know what's going on.

T.O. Contrite in Statement; Agent Faults Eagles
by John R. Finger
ComcastSportsNet.com
The unfathomable has happened. Bizarre has left the building and crazy just walked in the front door. :-D
Moments after Terrell Owens delivered a contrite and emotional apology to the Eagles, their fans, his teammates and quarterback Donovan McNabb, agent Drew Rosenhaus took a flamethrower to the bridge of goodwill his client had just constructed.
In a scene right out of a bad B-grade movie, Rosenhaus, dressed in a dark suit, grey shirt and purple tie, ranted, raved and blamed the Philadelphia Eagles for Owens' suspension from the team.
"Apparently his apology wasn't good enough," Rosenhaus ranted on several occasions during the approximately 20-minute news conference from Owens' driveway outside his home at 40 Landing Way in Moorestown, N.J.
More coming ...
If T.O. was truly sorry, why would he allow that piece of shtein Rosenthief to open his sewer and incinerate the Eagles the way he did?
What a pathetic freakshow.
I hope both of them die screaming.
Here it is, in a nutshell:
QuoteOWENS APOLOGIZES AGAIN
November 8, 2005
By DAVE SPADARO
Wide receiver Terrell Owens and his agent, Drew Rosenhaus, held a news conference on Tuesday afternoon and apologized to the Eagles, the fans and several members of the organization Owens did not answer questions from the reporters gathered at his New Jersey home.
The Eagles had no comment on Tuesday afternoon.
"As you know, I have been suspended and I told that I cannot play football for the rest of the season. I am a football player and this is what I do," said Owens, reading a prepared statement. "It really hurts me not to be part of the team anymore. I came here to help the Eagles get to the Super Bowl and win the big game.
"When I got hurt last year, and everyone said my season was over, I fought hard to prove the world was wrong and do everything possible, including risk my career, to help the Eagles win the Super Bowl.
"And I think the mentality that I have, my greatest strength can also be my greatest weakness. I'm a fighter -- I've always been and I'll always be. I fight for what I think is right. In doing so, I alienated a lot of my fans and my teammates.
"To those fans who supported me through these tough times, I thank you for your support. To every single Philadelphia Eagles fan out there that cheered for me, I want you to know that I am sorry this has happened. To you, I apologize.
"To my teammates, a lot of you have been a friend to me and I appreciate that. I can't tell you how much I wanted to fight along your side to take this team to victory. It was very painful for me not to be there with you against the taterskins last weekend, and it was more painful for me now that I won't be there with you Monday night.
"Also, I would like to reiterate my respect for Donovan McNabb as a quarterback and as a teammate. I apologize to him for any comments that may have been negative.
"To my head coach, Andy Reid, I owe you an apology. You and I were in a tough spot this year. I know you were just trying to coach this team and we did not see eye to eye sometimes. On the practice field and on game day, you knew you could count on me to give my very best. We had a lot of wins together, and I thank you for that. I respect you as a coach and as a person.
"To Joe Banner (team president) and Mr. (Jeffrey) Lurie (Chairman/CEO), I understand that all along you were trying to do what you believed was in the best interest of the team, the Philadelphia Eagles. I apologize to the both of you.
"As I said before, this is very painful for me to be in this position. I know in my heart that I can help the team win the Super Bowl and not only be a dominant player, but also be a team player. I can bring that.
"In closing, I want everybody to know that football is my passion. I've always given it my all and I will continue to do so."
Then Rosenhaus took the stand and told the media that he felt the media did not portray Owens in the proper light. Rosenhaus refused to answer many of the questions, including one that asked, "Other than getting him (Owens) suspended from team, what have you done as an agent for him?"
I wanted to reach through the radio and grab Drew by his freaking neck.
Eagles were all watching on TV according to SalPal...
The Eagles are not going to take TO back under any circumstances
The Eagles are going to pay him for all 9 games and not go after his signing bonus at all.
According to SalPal they just want him out of here.
What are the chances that today's performance by Rosenhaus might trigger a league-wide Front Office boycott of him?
"We'll meet with any player he represents, but we've had enough of Drew himself. So if you want a new deal, leave him in the lobby, or get another agent.
Signed,
All 32 Teams."

Irvin was a great receiver for us, but he had his fair of screwups and was/is an ass. Listening to him defending Owens was equally nauseating. He was on some ESPN show last night, and it was just as easy to turn the channel on him as it was on Owens. It's no small wonder they're buddies.

That's not what he said. He said that they would rather pay him for all 9 games if it comes to that, but that they're definitely seeking the 4-game-without-pay suspension. He did, however, say that they might not go after the $1.7m chunk of his signing bonus.

Nope, in fact, I'd lose a lot of respect for the Eagles if they folded on their stance. It's my belief that Andy, the coaches, the players, and the front office made every reasonable attempt to talk some sense into him. They'll stick to their guns because that's the way they are. :yay TO
It would seem the reasoning for not going after the $1.7m is this:
1. It will help it be less of an issue to get the $700+k 4-game suspension upheld.
2. It will reduce the amount of time that the situation drags on in arbitration, and thus take the focus off of T.O.

They way they've been playing, they may want to keep the focus on him in the hope that we'll all forget that they can't tackle.
As far as I'm concerned, he can keep the money he made last year. He earned it.
As for this year's dough, if it were my money, I wouldn't pay him a plug nickel more than I already have. He's destroyed this team's chances for returning to the Super Bowl, and as far as I'm concerned, he can choke on the biggest meatcicle in Hell for all eternity.

The signing bonus isn't meant to be just for the first year. It's meant to represent the entire length of the contract, which is why Ricky Williams had to pay a lot of his back, and Dale Carter, and others...
Seems to me that if Rosenhaus was serious about getting him back in uniform he should be at the NovaCare Complex with TO sitting in a conference room with Lurie, Banner, Reid and McNabb. Then after you set it right with them you go to the public.
Yeah, but it's a rough spot...they want to punish him as much as possible without dragging this thing out.
Just stop paying him. It's that simple. Take me to court. Drag it through the courts for years.

Then again, who gives a shtein? The object of all of this is for the Eagles to rid themselves of T.O. as quickly and painlessly as possible, right?
Just suspend him with pay and then release him next March, no questions asked.
BTW: He earned the $9M last year. He absolutely did, so going after money he clearly earned is bad policy in my opinion.

Seems to me that if Rosenhaus was serious about getting him back in uniform he should be at the NovaCare Complex with TO sitting in a conference room with Lurie, Banner, Reid and McNabb. Then after you set it right with them you go to the public.
You are correct - this wasn't about getting TO back on the team. This was about "satisfying the Eagles demands" so that they will win the grievance. If they actually did what you suggest, the Eagles might accept the apology and let TO back on the team...then DR wouldn't get his payday.
Bleed him for every dollar possible. Hit him in the pocketbook. The farging queer.

Exactly. Clause or no clause, it can be argued and argued before a decision is made final, and unlike Ricky Williams, he practiced hard and he played hard. The other things are harder to prove definitively.

That doesn't make sense - this is the exact opposite of the situation that brought TO here in the first place: there is a special exception in TO's contract that
favors the team - one they put in for this exact situation. The owners need the Eagles to fight this or the concept of multi-year contracts is over. The only reason the Eagles would consider
not going after the signing bonus would be to get TO out of the press.

It would seem the reasoning for not going after the $1.7m is this:
1. It will help it be less of an issue to get the $700+k 4-game suspension upheld.
2. It will reduce the amount of time that the situation drags on in arbitration, and thus take the focus off of T.O.
For all the garbage he spewed the last 9 months the Eagles should go after every penny!
Why the hell is Rosenhaus still hanging around? It costs him dough to fly in for this crap. He is not making a dime off the existing contract. His market value is now zero. What's in it for Drew? I really can't figure it.

He wouldn't have started whining about his money in the 2nd year of his contract, IMO, but it might have gone equally wrong in other ways. Hard to say.
Let's look at it this way; Rosenhaus lured TO away with promises of a big payday for both TO and Rosenhaus. Now, he will be lucky to get TO 1-2 mil on annual contracts. That is not a typical Rosenhaus client. I think Drew will dump him as quickly as TO dumped Joseph.

I know I've read a few articles today that said someone with the team has told other NFL officials that they don't really care if they lose the greivance.
Nope....SalPal just reported from TO's front lawn that his sources with the Birds said they were all watching and they wll not take him back at all. They want him gone so bad they will pay him for all 9 games and not take his SB back.

Nothing hurts Rosenhaus. The guy today showed passion about a player that hasn't made him any money yet. We may look at that and think he's a douche, but other players see that and wish their agent could be that passionate.
Remember yesterday during Reid's PC where he told reporters to basically shut up? SOmeone asked Spads who it was and he said:
QuoteA TV reporter, John Clark, was doing a live stand up
No shock that it was that smacked ass John Clark.

Borderline Personality Disorder (http://www.bpdresourcecenter.org/what.htm)
QuoteAnd, of course, the effect of the illness upon the life of the patient is equally profound: jobs are lost, successes are spoiled, relationships shattered, families alienated. The end result is all too often the failure of a promising life, or a tragic suicide.
I'm glad I didn't watch this news conference.
The questions seem priceless though.
As for the Eagles not being a better TEAM without Owens, I think that is false. I think they can absolutely be a better team, as in a cohesive unit that can move the ball efficiently on offense and play together and stop the ball on defense.
Now, they might not be as TALENTED, but they can absolutely be a better team. Anyone who doesn't recognize that doesn't know football. ;)

In the opening to DNL they showed TO wiping away tears while Drew was saying how the NFL accepts players back who have been arrested and who do drugs.

Ricky Williams retired. He did no rip his team mates or fight Nick Buonoconti in the traing room. He decided to come out of retirement. People were clammoring for Barry Sanders to come out of retirement for years.
I think TO went out of his way to try and completely disrupt this team. Ricky Williams just loved pot too much.
And the only reason Ricky is back is because he didn't want to pay back all of his signing bonus. He also came back into camp and put forth his best and did not be out spoken at all.
Now, what Williams did was extremely low class, but he is trying to make up for it and never complained about his deal. He didn't bad mouth the organization, bad mouth his teammates, he just wanted to leave. TO wants to blame everyone but himself, and I think that is what gets everyone riled up.

Its a laundry list of things that'll never happen so I'm not even thinking he;d be back. And I'm fine with him ebing outta here.
to me the question isnt will the eagles take him back.
im more concerned or interested about which gm watching, or which team watching will take him now?
often times players dont fit on teams, dont get along with some coaches/players, or have whatever differences. they are given 2nd chances....all headcases are allowed to go to a new team and rebuild thier nfl career. i think a classic example is corey dillon. not that NE needed him like we needed TO last yr, since they had already won 2 superbowls but he came known as the troubled player, or even a locker room cancer. but he has been a model player for the patriots since day 1. he isnt the total focus point of the offense like he was with the Bengals when they really sucked but he is happy. other examples i believe can include terry glenn, and other players in other sports.
this brings me back to my original point...which team is willing to give TO a third shot? which team thinks to itself "ok so he farged up numerous times on 2 teams but he has to know now that he can not get away with this stuff and that he wont be paid much so maybe he has changed". which team does that?
we might or might not get to the playoffs/superbowl this yr but i believe TO has completely royally jeopardized his future in this league in terms of the money he has always wanted.
my only sadness comes from the fact that had he behaved like he did last yr...McNabb/TO could have been one of the best if not the best tandem in the league for a good while.
I think the problem there is his age. Who's going to want to risk destroying team unity for a receiver in his mid-30s. For more than the vet minimum, no one. The only way someone picks him up is if they're just farging nuts (Snyder), or think he's the one piece they need to get over the hump (Shanahan, maybe Saban).
No one is going to sign him thinking he'll become a model citizen.
I've seen some crazy stuff in my time, but that... was... AWESOME.
Did anyone else see Michael Smith on ESPNnews last night saying sources told him - Rosenhaus was looking into (legality-league) steps to distance himself from T.O. Smith surmised that since there was going to be no money to made from him it made sense. Rosenhaus denys it of course.
That would be hilarious if Rosenhaus (mostly) caused this mess and then jumped ship.

Actually, I see that as very sad rather than hilarious.
Yeah, I saw that. Smith also said that Drewcifer's comment during the rant session yesterday about reports that he is looking into distancing himself from TO was BS.
But then TO pulls out the smile and wink at the reporter who asked what has he done for TO other than get him fired.
I bet TO fires him within a month.
I think the Eagles should tell TO they'll take him back only if he drops Rosenhaus as his agent.

QuoteIf the NFL Players Association has its way, Terrell Owens will have a shot at playing football again this season, a key union official told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.
The players union will not only ask arbitrator Richard Bloch to reduce the financial penalty but will argue that Owens should be reinstated to the "exact status" he had as a player before his suspension.
"That status means that he reports to the practice facility, he goes to team meetings, he practices and, hopefully, he plays," the union source said. "True, we can't force the Eagles to activate him on game day and play him but we feel pretty strongly about our case."
Under the arbitration rules, Bloch cannot make Owens a free agent but if he reinstates the receiver, as the union asks, it could force the team's hand to release him, to avoid the distraction of Owens reporting for work every day.
Financially, the union will argue that the Eagles' four-game suspension of Owens for conduct detrimental to the team was excessive and, at the most, he should miss only one game check for this past weekend's game against the taterskins.
The union source said that when the Eagles notified the NFLPA in writing on Saturday, the team simply stated the Owens was being suspended only for the taterskins game.
"You can't then go out and add three more games after the fact," the union official insisted.
Everyone but the NFLPA is condemning that icehole's actions. I can't see any conceivable way that an arbitrator would agree with Owens' posse on this issue.
He's the very definition of cancerous and should be banished from the league and so should his piece of shtein agent for that matter.
whatever. just give him his stupid money. get him out of here.
hes not getting reinstated to the team but i believe hell have the suspension reduced and his sb protected

I'm not saying I want him back on the team either, but it was send a nice sign to Rosenhaus.
I'm listening to Spads and he said that one of the players told him today that if any college player coming into the NFL "signs with that clown they deserve what they get".
Somebody just told me that Rosenwhore is supposed to have another press conf w/i the hour ???? :sly

millions of dollars?
I really think the Eagles will refuse to comply with the decision of the arbitrater and will take their chances in a court of law. No way they lose this to the union scumbags. Oh how I hate the unions. Corzine got elected in Jersey because of those morons.
I actually believed TO to be sincere while reading his statement yesterday, granted, too little too late, but then when douche started talking the shred of hope that he would ever again be an Eagle disappeared.
It's amazing how a grown man can be so brain washed by another man.

Yes, 'it was send a nice sign to Rosenfetus,' I just don't think douches like him will ever be driven out of the league.
For the vast majority of his clients, he gets them paid, and that's what the players care about. I mean rumors are already floating around that now that TO has shtein the bed in Philly, Rosenrosen doesn't want anything to do with him. Don't you think that should chase away potential clients?
I mean, who would want to be represented by a guy who bails on you at the first sign of trouble? But it won't make any difference because his slimey ass makes them rich and that is what they care about.
Letting TO back on the team just to 'stick it to' drew would be horrible and accomplish nothing.
And besides. You do sort of want him back. He gives you a minor chubby.
jesus take TOs cock out of your mouths already..sickening

the Dan Patrick Show is talking about it. I'm sure it's a skit they're going to run since they're saying they have "exclusive coverage". It's probably going to be a bunch of edited sound clips in an attempt to make the public laugh.
Even if he had another press conference, it would just be to admonish the Eagles for not giving TO a "second" chance after his "heartfelt" apology and to officially announce their intent to appeal the unpaid suspension.

Wrong. Humongous chubby.
Touchee
I would allow TO back on the team if he meets all of the following conditions:
1) He sits out the Cowboys game without pay
2) He fires Rosenfargtard immediately
3) He agree to not speak to the media while he is an Eagle
4) He apologises to McNabb personally
5) McNabb says it is OK
Because TO is unlikely to agree to any one of these conditions, I'm not too worried about him returning.
I wouldn't let that bitch ass motherfarger within 10 blocks of the NovaCare complex let alone back on the team.
I genuinely want to wake up one morning, turn on ESPN, and see that he shot himself in the face overnight.
This is Upshaw's take--it seems like the UNION DOESN'T WANT OWENS SUSPENDED OR BE EXCLUDED. UNBELIEVEABLE! If they want the Eagles to re-instate Owens, then they should drop the grievance regarding his suspension. You can't have it both ways. You can't tell a team they can't suspend a player and then they have to reinstate him when its to the detriment of the team.
Union Wants Terrell Owens Re-Instated By DAVE GOLDBERG, AP Football Writer
1 hour, 26 minutes ago
NEW YORK - The NFL Players Association wants the Philadelphia Eagles to cut Terrell Owens if they're not going to reinstate him after his four-game suspension is over.
"We're not asking them to play him, we can't force them to do that," Gene Upshaw, the NFLPA's executive director, said Wednesday. "But if they're not going to let him come back to practice and do all the other things associated with that, then we want them to cut him, let him become a free agent now."
The union already has appealed the four-game suspension levied on the wide receiver by the Eagles for what coach Andy Reid called "a large number of situations that accumulated over a long period of time."
The appeal will be heard before arbitrator Richard Bloch on Nov. 19.
But Upshaw said that even if the suspension is upheld, the Eagles can't just tell Owens to stay away from the team and its practice facility.
"We are taking the position that's additional punishment," Upshaw told The Associated Press. "It's not fair to a player not to have an additional chance."
Upshaw differentiated between the Eagles' suspension of Owens and Tampa Bay's decision two years ago to make Keyshawn Johnson inactive for the final six games of the season. Johnson signed in 2004 with Dallas, for whom he now plays.
"There was no suspension there. A team has the right to inactivate a player for whatever reason it wants," he said. "But in T.O.'s case, this is a team suspension, not a commissioner's deal. They're different. When we bargained in those rules, there was a reason for it. The most a player can be suspended is four games. You can't go beyond that."
