The Colts obviously will do everything they can to keep him, but with the Eagles struggling on the defensive line, if he even sniffs the FA market the Eagles should do WHATEVER it takes to get this guy in Philly.
Why, so you can change your name to Freeney_Is_God?
Good idea.
Putz.
Mature.
Freeney & Kearse?
I'd faint.
And I'll say it again about the Colts...they have some salary problems coming up, fellas.
Mortenson said the Colts are determined and optimistic that they can keep Freeney, Edge, and Wayne.
I don't see how they possibly can, but there are ways to structure contracts and such.
Maybe they let Marv go? Isn't he due a lot of money?
Yup....something like a $10M roster bonus.
They're going to cut Simon.
If any Freeney, Edge, or Wayne came loose, I'd want only Freeney. And I'd support the Eagles in paying whatever it takes to gethim.
The other two can go scratch.

Now that Westbrook is locked up, I agree. Wayne, imo, is going to be the next Peerless Price, only not quite as sucky. But when (if) he leaves Indy, he's going to get a monster deal and not live up to the hype as a #1 reciever. I think the guy is quite possibly the best #2 receiver in the league but I don't see him being 'the guy.'
If no deal was done with Westbrook then I would probably prefer to get Edge over Freeney even with the much maligned front 4 the Birds have right now. The best way to keep a sucky front 4 from sucking is to keep them off the field and with a back like Edge, the Eagles would be able to do that.
Westbrook is locked up, but I'd still like to see edge in Eagles Green. Can you imagine the offensive sets Childress could concoct? Split back, both in motion, fake hand-off to Edge, and a 10 yard pass to westbrook he can run another 10. Next set, I formation, Westbrook in motion to the outside, and hand-off to Edge.
Holy hell, I could get excited about that.
Oh yeah, Freeney would look great opposite of Freak, too....
Let's not get too excited. There's already 1 runningback on the roster who doesn't get the ball enough. No need to bring in another one who's going to get it even less. ;)

yah.. i dont think there's anything to fix stale, predictable playcalling on the FA market. getting edge would be quite the pickup.. but then we'd need a line that can run block. get freeney though.
The Eagles are gonna have so much cap room and so many draft picks that they could potentially buy the entire Colts franchise and still have room left to add a couple worthless Mormons.
They'll franchise Freeney. DEs are hard to get; finding elite ones even more so.
Maybe we can get Raheem Brock back
I know we're just dreamin' here fellas but Kearse at LDE and Freeney at RDE.... :drool
Who knows? Maybe the Syracuse man love can work a miracle.
That's one crazy pipe dream.
Freeney's due a relatively small roster bonus next year, and he's under contract through 2008.
You can rest assured that the Colts would send Simon, Wayne, and even Edge packing if they had to in order to hold on to Freeney. There is no way in hell he'll be cut loose, so lose the pipe dream.
I would be shocked if Freeney became available in FA.
