Title: DMAC admits he lost some run speed

QuoteEagles Notes McNabb says he's lost some speed

Eagles Notes

Attempts to get Eagles quarterback Donovan McNabb to admit that he is reluctant to run these days because of his sports hernia are always met with denial.

McNabb, however, at least acknowledged yesterday that he is not able to run the way he used to right now.

"I tried to run" against San Diego, he said before practice. "[I'm] just not running as fast as I used to."

Proof that McNabb's ability to run has been affected by his injury can be found on the weekly statistics sheet. After six games, the quarterback has carried the ball 14 times for 8 yards. A year ago at this point, when it first became noticeable that he wasn't running as much, McNabb still had 70 yards on 18 carries, a 3.9-yard average. His career average is 6.1 yards per carry, but he hasn't had a run longer than 5 yards this season.

"I guess that means you're not a running quarterback anymore," McNabb said. "You're just trying to look downfield and focus on your receivers and being able to execute in that way. If nothing's there, then you decide to run."

Teammates Brian Dawkins and Jeremiah Trotter said it's obvious that McNabb is not the threat to run that he had been.

"You can see it," Dawkins said. "He's definitely looking to throw the ball. I think he always did that anyway... but he's doing that definitely more this year because of the injury.

"I want him to do that. I don't want him running the ball. I'd rather have him throw the ball and line up again than run 10 yards and take a cheap shot like he did last week."

Trotter said McNabb probably won't be a running threat again until he has undergone surgery to correct his sports hernia. "He's not going to get right until after the season," Trotter said.

But McNabb said he still may surprise some people with his legs.

"Things are going to get better," he said. "I'll have some games where I rush for 40, 50, 60 yards, but that's not my focus."

I'll be happy if the TEAM has games where they run for 40, 50 or 60 yards.

Nice to see he's in the reality-based world with the rest of us.  Obviously, he's not running like he used to.  He looks more like Vinny than he does his former self.

Yeah, right.  Perhaps I spoke too soon: Now he's back to a faith-based world.  Maybe he'll post those numbers next year, but it's obvious he's got no mobility this year.

Me too. He should embrace his abilities a la Elway or Young.

i think this is just a ploy from dmac to make other teams actually believe he can't run anymore, then BOOM, out of no where he's running for an 80-yard TD.  anyone else with me on this theory?

Whatever, Donovan. Run...don't run...I don't care. I only ask that you throw the damned ball away instead of taking a sack, okay?

And maybe to hand off every now and then. Oh yeah, and stop throwing at the slot-receiver's feet. And get some touch on those long balls. And stop dancing like MJ. He touches little boys.

In other news, the Pope admits he's Catholic, Sarge admits to being a drunken Marine, and rjs admits to choking people.

Big news day, it is...

Au contraire! I admit to WANTING to choke people. I'll never admit to actually having choked anyone. I only admit to things I've actually done. Like beating a cripple with his own prosthesis.

That is exactly what I was thinking...

really, imagine if he was faking this. he set it all up, does bad on purpose but enough to win, then said he cant run, then one game he quadruples his entire rushing career.
