Game Day Roster
MOATS ACTIVE FOR EAGLES
October 23, 2005
The Eagles will have two rookies play in their first NFL game Sunday.
Running back Ryan Moats will suit up and help out on kickoff returns. Cornerback Dexter Wynn, who was the punt returner, is inactive. Cornerback Lito Sheppard will be in on punt return duty. Linebacker Matt McCoy will also help out on special teams, replacing Jason Short - who is inactive with a high ankle sprain.
Defensive tackle Darwin Walker is back in the lineup. He's missed the last three games with a thigh contusion. Defensive tackle Keyonta Marshall is inactive to allow Walker to play.
Quarterback Mike McMahon will be the third quarterback. Kicker David Akers remains sidelined with a hamstring injury. Offensive linemen Todd Herremans and Calvin Armstrong are inactive for the Eagles, along with wide receiver Darnerien McCants.
For the Chargers, the third quarterback is former Eagle A.J. Feeley. The other inactives are cornerback Drayton Florence, center Nick Hardwick, wide receiver Vincent Jackson, tight end Ryan Krause and defensive ends Dave Bell and Derreck Robinson.
Bob Hallen will start for at center for San Diego. Sammy Davis will start at cornerback for Florence and Shawne Merriman will start at outside linebacker for Ben Leber.
reno steals the ball from ryan!
I'll get to watch a bit of the game (until my son wakes up from his nap), then head up north a bit to ride out that old witch Wilma.
GO EAGLES! :evil
lots o penalties so far
3 hurtful penalties already.
Illegal block in the back wipes out a Westbrook 1st down.
12 men on the field wipes out a great punt by Dirk that was downed on the 2.
Unnecessary roughness by McMullen that wiped out a holding penalty against SD.
:boom :boom :boom
Bad start to this game....to many penalaties!
Good stop on LT ;D
Anther nice hit on LT!!! Good hit Michael Lewis ;D
well thats the defense we know
Great series by the D.
:yay :yay :yay
Great Defensive Start!
Three and OUT
When Brees threw that pass to LT behind the line I thought for sure that was going to be a fumble. Nice play by LT to bring that in with one hand. Damnit.
Great start by our D!! THEY'RE PLAYING PISSED OFF WHICH I LIKE!! :yay
Good to see the defense get it going this week so far.
GO McNABB! :evil :evil :evil
punt return blocking still sucks!
Mike Lewis is off to a nice start. I think he had a hand in all 3 plays. :yay
well andy is trying to run but nothing is really happening when they do
LJ was wiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiide open! :boom

It's ok though because at least handing the ball off will make the defense respect the run when it comes to play action.
Another great punt by Dirk. :yay
i agree, it shoulda worked on the play with lj wide open. but mcnabb missed him.
dirk makes another nice punt, but no stupid penalties this team. field position huzzah!
McNabb looks like shtein so far, the O-line is giving him all day to throw the ball.
NICE PUNT!
Can someone shut up these announcers :evil
No passes thrown towards TO yet. McNabb hates him. :paranoid
The run will open up. San Diego isn't great against the run, most teams start off stiff against it, then it slackens off later. I think if they stick with it, they'll be able to set up the play action nicely. McNabb sounds like he is a little cold, but then again, I am listening to it on Field Pass, so I really can't tell.
WOW there shutting down LT....hope it continues....

I think as long as he's injured he's going to get off to slow starts. This is going to be something we have to deal with all year. But as long as the defense is able to get off the field and let the offense spend more time on the field then I think McNabb can get loose quicker than in recent weeks when the defense has struggled.
keep this stellar defense up. they arent letting the chargers get into postive yardage

I don't know which Eagle it was that got through and was on the ground when the punter got rid of the ball, but it looked like the punter did a little acting on that one.
It sounds like once McNabb finds his groove, it's going to be on. Reese is talking about alot of open recievers and the DBs haveing trouble with staying with the WRs in the routers. Fingers crossed. Keep it up D!
Another flag. Looks like it's coming back. :boom
this director sucks.
No call. :yay
Nice play. I run that play all the time on Madden. It's my favoritest.
Go Westy....get into the red zone and fall down or run out of bounds. I'm playing against Westy in fantasy football :paranoid. I do have LJ starting, so toss the ball to him in the endzone! Go iggs!
Nice play by Parry. Flag orgy on the field.
Enough with the flags!
Something must be strange, Reese just said Parry caught a ball, broke a tackle or two, and got a first down. Haha....silly Reese.
Illegal shift on Philly/holding on SD. Replay 2nd down.

In fun news, Kevan Barlow just broke a seventeen yard TD run against the vaunted super-Skins defense. 14-7 Skins. Please let the niners get some momentum and smoke the Gibbs' pole smokers.
***Update, Arrington aparently left his assignment, giving Barlow a nice big hole to fly through! Way to overpursue asshat!
Another punt by Dirk inside the 5!!
Dirk for MVP!!
Memo to McNabb: you have a sports hernia. Don't try to effing run the ball Einstein. ::)

McNabb is pushing to make plays. That always makes me nervous. :paranoid
The O-line is playing really well despite giving up 3 sacks, McNabb's holding onto the ball waaaaaaaaayyy too long and our receivers look like they're running in cement.
andy has gotten back into pass evert frickin down mode
McNabb, did you get a copy of that memo we sent out about NOT trying to run the football? Y'see, you have a sports hernia so you shouldn't be trying to pull the ball down and run it because you won't be fast enough to get away from the defense. So if you could just not do that anymore, that would be great. Yeeeeaaaaaah.
Another flag! Yay!! :boom :boom :boom
Stop me if you've heard this one before: False start, Offense WTF!! :boom
I am about to farging vomit. Five penalties......no points. ::)
These penalties are farging ridiculous.

Ooh! Oooh! Another flag!!
This is the hardest game I've had to watch in years!

The thing that really pisses me off about this is that it's going to be at least 20 minutes or so until McNabb gets back on the field. He's in a great rhythm and has loosened up and now he's going to tighten up some during halftime and the Chargers first possession.
Marty is probably going to find some way at halftime to open up somethings for LT and/or Gates. We should be ahead by now by at least two TDs. This is so frustrating. The way this D has been playing, and with all the talent on the offense, this game should be close to all but over. :boom

no better time than now to learn. he is getting practice against the best defense in the history of organized football
After a slow start, the Eagles offense really starting clicking for the last 7 minutes or so of the 2nd qtr.
The defense has been absolutely phenominal. It's all about half time adjustments now. Who makes the right calls in the 2nd half?
Special teams coverage has been excellent so far. Dirk did a great job pinning SD deep in their own territory.
Too many penalties on the offense. That has got to stop. It's a farging home game and they've had 2 weeks to prep.

DA WOODCHOPPA!! :evil
Brees had all day on that one. :(
Lewis is back on the field too. :yay

Man, I wish that play would have gotten off. Direct snap to LT and Mike Lewis was right in his face. End of the 3rd qtr.
I think the problem with clock management is that Reid wears a pocket watch and can't find it in midst of his blubber :-D

Now there's a flag I won't complain about! :D
this is gross. but holding them to a fg would nice
Time out SD. Gotta hold them to a FG. Absolutely must hold em. A turnover would be pretty effing nice though.
Eagles have no one to blame but themselves for this right now though. 2 botched scoring opportunities. JJ not making the right calls on d this half either. :boom
LT just got to 0 yards rushing.
Time out SD. The crowd was frigging loud as hell.
this is all well and good in terms of keeping them to 3, but we havent driven the length of the field for a td without the aid for significant charger penalty yards
It looks as if this season is truly finished. They can't handle business and McNabb is hurting this team more than helping. He needs to just have this surgery and get it over with. If his throws would be accurate, the team wouldn't be in the crappy long 3rd downs and would get a lot more done downfield.
Way to stab us all in the heart Eagles...thanks a bunch.

AWESOME farging stand. I am pretty sure that Jim Johnson asked the D before this game,

You CANNOT overturn this. It is AT LEAST not definiable, meaning the play on the field stands.

I don't even feel that great about this win. I'm glad they won but it definately feels like a cheap win. But a win is a win and I'll take 'em any way I can get 'em.
Is this the Brian Westbrook punt return from a couple years ago that saved that season? A loss here after the bye to put them at 3-3 would have been really tough for this team. They still don't look very good, but maybe that was the play to get things going from here on out. I thought the KC comeback might have been it. Then I was hoping the bye would have gotten them turned around. Now I guess I have to hope this did it.
My first thoughts after this game, McNabb and the offense let the defense down. Who would have thought that special teams would have had such a big part in this win?

I disagree. The Chargers are a Super Bowl contender. To win against them is a big deal, even if the offense looked like shtein.

That being said, I think I scared my kids pretty bad when I went berserk on that last TD. They won't come within 10 feet of me.

I agree 110% on both counts. If you have to depend on the special teams to keep you in games and the defense to flat out win them then we're in big trouble.
McNabb has decent numbers but just isn't the player he was last year. He's throwing low, overthrowing wide open receivers, looking bad overall to anyone who watches football and knows anything at all about the game. He's not half as effective as he normally is. He's not taking over games like he used too. He's hurting, it's plain to see. We go no were with him playing like he has the last two games.
this season is playing out eerily similar to 2003.

I dunno. McNabb has shown plenty of ability to go from hot to suck even without the sports hernia but I'm still inclined to agree. At any rate I think we can all agree that we won't be getting too far this season unless the offensive situation improves markedly.

Yes, he's been inconsistant much of his career, but I thought that with the addition of TO last year and the great year he had, we'd seen the end of it. He looks bad.

Thanks, dude. God, I love the internet! :yay
I know, it's the terrible locker room presence of TO thats screwing up the whole offense! Bench that piece of shtein!
It is utterly amazing that they totally and completely SHUT DOWN LT!! That deserves a ton of accolades. He is the best of the best and he was stopped cold. WOW!!

I agree, no defense has done that, not one, ever. I had said the D needed to prove something after the Dallas game, and they did, and then some.

Doesn't that make twice that they have shut down LT in his career? Both times they faced him, he's been crushed.

Is it? I somewhat vaguely remember containing him the last time we played them, but nothing like the complete non factor he was today.
mcnabb stinking it up can be attributed to his injuries. face it last yr with the same offense he was on fire.
even at this rate he is servicable but we need to balance the running n the passing....i know its been said a million times but i seriously dont get it...u have a injured qb so u make him throw more than any other qb in the history of the team?
yeah the running game doesnt work every play and u might get 1-2 yd gains but u gotta stick with it.
mcnabb went on a nice streak of 23 some straight completions but most of that was short stuff.....how many deep balls have we completed this season? i wonder how badly he is hurting cause we didnt even attemtp deep balls today. maybe if we could suck up the safeties a lil with a threat at running the ball we could open it up downfield.

No Pinkston...offense stalls. :o >:D
I was able to capture the 4th quarter on the radio while running from the hurricane. That was a freaking awesome way to win the game- I think that I scared the crap out of my kid when I screamed in the car.
Seeing the replay later was the icing on the cake.
And since I left my house before the comeback, I got to read all of the posts from the Tomlinson stuff on the goalline to the end. Funny stuff, in light of the comeback and Eagles win. :-D
That said, Reid HAS to run more, period. Or he'll get McNabb killed by the end of the season. And there will be no Super Bowl.
We wanted to take a moment to follow up with you regarding the alarm system that exists within Lincoln Financial Field.
During the fourth quarter of the Chargers game, a fire alarm was triggered. The alarm that was activated was a false alarm. Nevertheless, the security system was activated and the pre-programmed alarms and announcements were initiated.
Please know that had this been an actual emergency there would be no ambiguity as to whether or not you should evacuate the building. The communications of any evacuation-level emergency would be made over the entire communications system, including the "Eaglevision" boards, LED boards, and the public address system. All levels of staffing, including guest services staff and CSC security in each section of the stadium, would have directed you to the nearest exit.
It is important to note that prior to every event at Lincoln Financial Field we show a comprehensive safety video that includes evacuation instruction and direction. We urge you to take a moment to observe the video and locate the nearest exit to your seating area prior to the event.
Your safety and enjoyment are our ultimate concerns.
Sincerely,
Scott Jenkins

Beat me to it
As if half the fans getting this letter even know what ambiguity means. :-D They need to speak in 700 level terminology.
make sure you note the nearest exit to your seats...because as we know everyone takes the longest possible route when leaving each week

My personal favorites are the idiots who sit on one side of a row....like seat 24 or something....but when they leave to go to the bathroom or to get food during the game, they walk the LONG way and make the WHOLE row get up for them...instead of just going up or down closer to their seat.

wtf?...why because the bathroom is closer to that stairwell??

I think it would sound something like this:
Booooooooooooooooooooooooo! ...false alarm... Booooooooooooooooooooooooo! ....actual emergency... Booooooooooooooooooooooooo! ...directed you... Booooooooooooooooooooooooo! ...nearest exit. Booooooooooooooooooooooooo! *snowball*
LOL QB...
If there was a legit bomb threat, I'd sort of hope they'd get us all out using the fire alarm.
Just sayin.

There would be a black mark on the sidewalk.....................................from where it got burned. :D
So we know that concrete and steel will burn, crumble, and melt, when jet fuel is used. Anybody going to the game that wouldn't notice a jet hitting the stadium?

probably about 35,000
What kind of effect will that have on my chance of getting season tickets?
the list would still be 60,000...as it has been for years. no more, no less.
you'll get tickets right after i do. and thats never. considering i've been on a list since the end of 2000.
Interesting (http://www.concrete.com/documents/concrete_fire_rating.htm)
I've been told, not by any real authority, that concrete blows apart when it gets hot enough.
But to all you inquiring minds, don't worry, I've put forth the question to Dr. Concrete (http://www.concrete.com/forum/forum.htm)
If we set this thread on fire will it blow apart too? Please?
I just saw the tape last night. I did nothing but laughed in the 4th qtr. :-D
Great Defense! :yay
