From SalPal's ESPN article today. Apologies if its been posted.
There are signs that Reid is growing tired of the ordeal. Those around Reid say privately that the head coach wants Banner and the front office to find a way to make Westbrook happy. The Eagles are between $9 and $12 million under the NFL salary cap, which means the money is there.
But Banner remains adamant that the offer they've made to Westbrook is fair -- and in line with his value.

I think if Reid wants a player, Banner makes it work. I have a hard time believing that Reid wants Westbrooks contract extended now and Banner wont do it. Doesnt make any sense.
Interesting to say the least. I really don't buy into it...yet. I'm like MURP, I just don't see the relationship between the two breaking down over 1 player.
However, this could be a good thing in the big picture of things. When Reid was hired as GM and took on the dual roles I didn't like it. I was totally against it because I thought it would hurt him because the players might tune him out since he was the guy who essentially controlled their bank accounts. That has proven to not be a problem like I and many thought it might be.
But if this is true, and Westbrook / Fletcher Smith know it, then Reid can say "Hey, I realize your value but the brass doesn't". And that could take some heat off Reid if he is indeed facing any heat from the players.
Either way, Westbrook must get done. McNabb is speaking out for him and as stubborn as Banner and Lurie can be, they have to listen to their star QB and the face of the franchise. If you lose McNabb's voice in the locker room, you lose the team.
Sounds like more SalPal drama induced nonsense.

of course it does anyone who dare write or say anything that doesnt put the eagles in the bestest of light is a two bit hack...or an a-hole
I knew that you were going to say that, you predictable ass.
Its not the POINT. SalPal has been doing this forever. He did it during last offseason when the Eagles were getting TO....again this offseason making the TO/McNabb thing 8 million times worse than it actually was proven to be. Even when they were low fiving on the sidelines and clearly talking on the sidelines like QB and WR, he was still making up this dramatic "they're not even saying 2 words to each other" crap in his TV pieces and online. I'm not just saying it because its about the Eagles...I'm saying it because its Sal Pal. ::)
I think McNabbs endorsment might possibly hold more weight than AR.

More weight than AR? That's unpossible.
Westy deserves the money. Banner and Reid won't negotiate in public.
It will get done.

Gotta agree with this, if Reid wants the deal done then it will get done.
I predict a long term deal will be done by November 18th.
That and a couple of quarters will buy you a USA Today.

not anymore
I don't doubt there's push-back between Reid and Banner, and I don't doubt it's been there in the past at other times. That said, I believe that Reid and Heckert get the players they want signed in the end, and Banner has to find the most money-friendly way to do it.
