Title: Around the NFL -- Week 7
Post by: Diomedes on October 21, 2005, 08:56:02 PM
Might as well get this thread started early, with the early action.  KC has been dominating as far as I can tell, but  Ronnie Brown just ripped off a 65 yard touchdown. And now Priest has answered with his own 35 yarder.  I wish we could see this game.

Thank you Larry Johnson, you worthless PSU alumni for that TD. Way to start me off on a good note for this week.  :yay :yay :yay

Now all I need is the wifebeater to score me one.

Which wife beater would that be?  Randy McMichael? Ahman Green?  Michael Pittman?  One of the others?

Ah yes, in today's day and age, I must clarify...I mean the wifebeater playing right now...McMichael.

And it better end with Johnson scoring another TD.

Ends with a 30 yd. Tynes FG.  More than eight minutes off the clock.

Now Tynes adds a 51 yarder.  That blows for one of my fantasy teams.  Farg.

Trent Green Blows.

He couldn't throw for ONE farging TD again this week. I need a new QB. This is ridiculous.

I am in the same boat. I started Green this week because my other QB is Brees. And the Chefs offense is still allergic to the TD pass, the fargs.,

Thinking of thiese bets for this week.  Ihaven't committed yet, since you get better odds between midnight and 7:00 AM Sunday on BetOnSports.com.

Thoughts?

Detroit +3 1/2
StL -2 1/2
Oakland -2 1/2
Dallas +4 1/2
Indy -16 1/2
NY Jets +7 1/2

I'm mostly concerned with the Oakland game (no Moss) and the Indy game (undefeated against winless scares me -- both are due to jump the trend).

I don't think you have to worry. The Colts' D has looked good all year (not great), and did you even watch the Texans/Seahawks game last weekend? Pathetic to say the least. No way the Texans come close.

Yeah, I always wait to place my NFL bets until after midnight unless I see a really great early line.

These lines have changed:

STL -3
DET +3
OAK +3

I'm not sure on who I'm going with yet. But I am leaning towards taking the Saints because Bulger is out.

I do like that DET line, especially if Garthia starts.

I'm not touching Indy no matter how zesty Houston is. I hate double-digit lines. Especially ones that are over 15.

I am leaning towards the Jets too.

I also like the Packers (-2) and the Bengals (-1).

I don't like any of those bets you made. I think they are all very risky although this is a very tough week for bets.

I think the Seahawks -4, Steelers +1, and Giants -2.5 are the best bets this week. Though I don't love either of those either. I don't feel great about any games this week, but those are the games I got for this week.

The Broncos losing puts the Eagles in a great spot to play them. They were on a role and it just got stopped. I expect them to stumble out of the gates next week.

The Giants winning was bad for us, but they won't be there in the end anyway. This puts the Broncos in a real tough spot.  :yay

They haven't shown me any reason to think they won't.  They are a little weak in the secondary, but their line is getting pressure.  On offense, Eli is playing very well for a 2nd year QB and should only get better.  If Plaxico, Shockey, and Barber can stay healthy, that team gets to 10 wins easily.
Title: Re: Around the NFL -- Week 7
Post by: WEST is GOD on October 23, 2005, 10:01:19 PM
Easily? I doubt that. I think they'll finish 9-7 at best. Their defense is awful, and by "be there in the end" I mean for the division. This division is still a lock despite what all the experts say. It will not come down to a final game or anything like that. The taterskins, Giants, and Cowboys will all start to lose as the year goes on. Eagles are a 12-4 team and the Giants/Skins/Cowboys will finish 9-7, 8-8, 8-8 respectively. I don't see it going down to the wire at all.

The whole copying celebrations thing only makes guys like Ward, McCardell, and Givens look classless AND unoriginal.

Hell, Givens RE-copied the wing-flapping celebration in the SB.  That was super lame.  If they think receivers like T.O., Chad Johnson, and Joe Horn should avoid stupid celebrations, maybe they should follow their own advice and hand the ball to the referee.

Ahman Green - out for the year

Not like he was doing anything lately anways. The last time that bum had a 100 yard game was in November of 2004.

Madieu Williams - out for the year

Big blow to the Cincy secondary

QuotePackers | Levens Could be an Option
Mon, 24 Oct 2005 08:42:56 -0700

Bob McGinn, of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, reports free agent RB Dorsey Levens (Eagles) could be an option for the Green Bay Packers to help shore up their dwindling depth at the running back position. Levens knows the West Coast offense, has always been a solid workout player and could hit the ground running should the Packers choose him.

Kevin Johnson - out for the year.

Word out of Trenton is that Mark Eckel bought 4 dozen red roses and sent them to Detroit.

Good job, Demon. I took a beating yesterday on NFL.

But the ATL-NYJ is now at 8.5.

I am probably going to parlay the Jets +8.5 and the over of 40.5 and do a teaser where the Jets will be +14.5 and the over will be 34.5.

The Herp was 11/23, 116 yards, and 3 picks. A HUGE QB rating of 16.1. Sean Salisbury on Sportscenter talking all about Vick. 100%. Nothing about Dunn's awesome game, the Jets handing the ball to the Falcons in the redzone twice, or how the game should have been closer, possibly even a loss for the Falcons if the  Jets had only marginal play from a QB.

The dumb shtein then goes on to proclaim Vick can have a game like this all the time, it doesn't matter, and they can be champions because he can turn the corner and get hit hard repeatedly. farging delusional. They were pretty damn close from losing that one towards the end after Vicks third pick, and Brooks Bollinger looked decent against the Salisbury termed, "Elite" defense.  ::)

I'll say it right here, Vick has the rest of this season, and maybe all of next year before everyone realizes the experiment failed.  :yay

I feel sorry for Herm Edwards. He lost another QB tonight. Granted it was 41-year old Testaverde, but still.

Brooks Bollinger looked half decent...except for that pass that he didn't get enough air under on 4th and 1 that could've helped them get it to 27-21.

I was watching that play last night while reading the posts frying Reid for passing on a 4th and 1.

Edwards has CURTIS MARTIN at RB, and still elects to pass- with Bollinger at QB- on 4th and 1.

Too much faith in a marginal OB, too little faith in a future HOF RB, or too many hits in the head while playing for the Eagles?

He's not a passer and never will be. That isn't what they have him for.

And he'll never win a championship playing the way he does. If a defense shuts down the run against them (See the NFCCG), they are absolutely lost. Any championship caliber defense will install a solution to stop Vick and Dunn, and they win the game.

Did anyone see the segment last night on MNF on Vick?  Why being a celebrity is tough?  The last question he asked himself was, how to date two girls and get away with it? He said use two cell phones.

1-  im sure kids are watching the game, thats not such a great idea to be putting in kids heads.
2 - vick has herpes.  how do u get away with dating two girls at once? you don't tell them u have herpes. i just about lost it and almost shtein myself.  mike vick is a piece of shtein.  i hope his dick rots off.   :boo :boo
