Bucs trade for Rattay (http://sports.espn.go.com/nfl/news/story?id=2195886)
Also heard that the Chargers have traded an undisclosed draft pick and QB Cleo Lemon to the Dolphins in exchange for AJ Feeley. Looks like Feeley will be coming back to Philly this week.

Quarterback trades:
AJ Feeley to the Chargers.
Cleo Lemon to the Dolphins.
Tim Rattay to the Bucs.
I wasn't quite sure if it was new thread worthy, but yeah... pretty exciting.

Sounds to me like Rivers is gone. Why else would they want Feeley? IMO he'll be the new 2nd string QB if Rivers gets shipped outta there.

Yeah, they'll probably trade away their young first rounder who they invested TONS of money in rather than the proven commodity who they haven't paid much for and can actually get them something in return. Rivers is definitely the one getting traded there.
Rivers will get a lot more than Brees, but ignoring the sarcasm I agree with the rest of the post.
Chargers also dealt Fonoti to the Vikings, which is a bit of a surprise.

Not really. I read last week he was benched and the Chargers put him on the market.
What baffles me is why the Chargers would want Feeley at all.
They just said on the news that Fonoti ballooned up to 400 lbs. and was seeing a weight management specialist but it wasn't working, he should fit right in with the Vikings circus.
I guess the Colts couldn't afford him.

I don't understand that, either. They must be up to somethin'...

Maybe they figured at that weight, no woman would look twice at him so the odds of a sex scandal are lower.
He must have really been out of favor, since all they got was a conditional 6th or 7th round pick. At least that's what I read earlier.
I think that the Chargers made a good move.
They've got Mr. Mitts lined up to be the #2 and they'll likely let Brees walk via FA and keep Rivers (who I thought would be the best of the 2004 QBs). And even if they do trade Rivers and sign Brees longterm, its still a win-win situation.
But how terrible does Miami look here? :-D
They give up a 2nd round pick to the Birds for AJ.
Now they give him to SD AND a draft pick for Ms. Cleo Lemon?
Fonoti is a bum. But he'll help Minny once his hand heals.
i'm not so convinced that they will just let Brees walk. i think there is a chance they keep Brees and trade Rivers to somebody. another lousy team may want to trade for Rivers as if they were drafting him for rebuilding. the Chargers have a sure bet in Brees, I don't know if I would be so willing to let him go and put all my hopes on a guy that hasn't played a down in the league yet.
I'd tend to agree with you. Plus LT loves Brees and they're good friends.
But SD has invested a lot in Rivers. And their GM isn't known for being smart all the time.
I'd hang on to Brees if I could and send Rivers packing. Brees has proven himself to be a good NFL quarterback. 'A bird in hand' and all that jazz. And don't forget..the Chargers invested less in Rivers than if he were the actual number one pick. Moreover, they recouped so much value in that ridiculous trade with Jersey/A that no matter what happens with Rivers, they still win.
I tend to agree with those who believe that Brees will stay and Rivers will be dealt. I was frankly surprised prior to last season when it appeared that the Chargers were going to give up on Brees so quickly - he has since proven himself, and they now have the luxury of being able to deal Rivers in the offseason, likely for some pretty good value. AJ will be the veteran backup, and can begin familiarizing himself with the Chargers offense during the remainder of this season.
buckup QB, one of the few jobs you can be paid millions for failing miserably. year after year.
All hail Neckbeard!
HAIL!
ALLEGIANCE OR DEATH, NECKBEARD!

QuoteAdam Schefter, of NFL.com, reports newly acquired San Diego Chargers QB A.J. Feeley does not figure in the team's long-term plans. When the Chargers traded QB Cleo Lemon to the Miami Dolphins, what San Diego really wanted back was the Dolphins' sixth-round pick, not another quarterback. It's as if Feeley was the throw-in to complement the sixth-rounder. Feeley is scheduled to make $3.5 million next season, $4.5 million in 2007 and $5.5 million in 2008. San Diego does not intend to pay that much to Feeley, nor does it even know if it wants Feeley around beyond this season.
damn. talk about falling from grace.
I'd love to shove that little blurb down the throat of every single idiot screaming for AJ to be the Eagles' starting QB 2 years ago.

That's a long middle name. Is that Greek, or something?

I would not be even a little bit surprised to see Feeley back in Philadelphia next year.
what a classic line: "what San Diego really wanted back was the Dolphins' sixth-round pick, not another quarterback." :-D
I'm just trying to figure out why the Dolphins made that trade. Wouldn't it have been just as easy to cut AJ if they hated him so bad?

With the trade they don't incur the cap hit??
either way, don't you only have to absorb the signing bonus? I'm not a GM, but I play one on the Ps2.
Trade or cut has the same effect on the cap. Chargers probably allowed the Dolphins to throw in Feeley because they're able to absorb his salary, and by trading away Lemon, they only had 2 QB's for this year.
:-D
Adam Joshua has hit the lowest of lows. Being a throw in with a #6 for a dude named Cleo Lemon.
He still has seen over million dollars and banged (still bangs?) Heather Mitts regularly. He's getting paid over a million this year to carry a clipboard in Miami, then San Diego (not exactly the frozen tundra).
I'd say it's good to be A.J. Feeley.
You're right. Banging Heather Mitts is worth it by itself.
It wasn't all that.

Just to be a fourth grade and say..."ha ha...i was right and you were wrong?!" ::)
It would probably be closer to, "Eat that, bitches!"

There's right, there's wrong, and then there's mass hallucination. Anybody that seriously wanted AJ to start for this team saw something I did not. I'm assuming it was a flying pink elephant.
Huh? Who wanted him to start?

quite a few people during the opening of the season when the Eagles lost to Tampa and New England. McNabb had a thumb injury at the time.
Wow...i don't know that i'd ever consider that. I mean...McNabb with a broken ankle is better than half the QB's in the National Football League.
Probably IGY. ;D
