Title: Around The NFL -- Week 6
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on October 16, 2005, 11:52:01 AM
Eagles are on a bye, which is good. Not only do they need it, but I need it too. Now I'll flip through every game without worrying if I'm missing a play in the Birds game.

Not sure on my bets yet this week either. I'm looking em over as we speak. I had to work late yesterday so I slept in this morning and it screwed my routine up. Wah.

Go Chiefs!

Hines Ward out too.

Hey! Go say 50 Hail Kevins, dammit!

Eckel's boy is starting and will tear it up!

My bets this week:

Jags +3.5
Falcons -6
Bengals - 3.5
Browns +6
Chargers -2
Seahawks -9.5
Patriots +3
Giants +3

In one league I'm starting Tatum Bell, Fred Taylor and Eric Parker because of injuries and byes. So blah.

My bets for the week:

Giants +3
Carolina -1
Kansas City -5 1/2
Jacksonville +3 1/2
Indy -13 1/2  (I think that was an emotional bet instead of a smart bet, but what the hell)

Carolina at -1 is my pick. I'm feelin down after gettin last week wrong.

It's a windy day in Pittsburgh, probably a big part of the reason Maddox can't throw for shtein today.

Bumbling Cowpukes giving up turnover after turnover after turnover to the Giants so far.  I hope they get thrashed so those rednecks are wondering what hit them all week.

Ravens up 13-0. Are the Browns that bad? Christ.
Title: Re: Around The NFL -- Week 6
Post by: Sgt PSN on October 16, 2005, 02:35:23 PM
Stupid Jim Hasslett.  He had 10 seconds left in the half and a time out remaining and instead of running one more play he decides to go for the FG.  Falcons block and return it for a TD.
Title: Re: Around The NFL -- Week 6

Tony Gonzalez STILL has no touches through the first half. Amazing.
Title: Re: Around The NFL -- Week 6

No sooner do I speak than he gets a 2 yard reception.
Title: Re: Around The NFL -- Week 6
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on October 16, 2005, 02:39:17 PM
My God the Saints are bad.

They line up to go for a 51-yard FG with :10 and it is only 3rd down. They have 1 timeout remaining so you think they'd run it to get a few more yards and then call a timeout, right? Wrong. Well ATL calls the timeout and helps them out. The Saints run Stecker for 4 yards and they line up for a 47 yard FG attempt.

Falcons block it and return it for a TD. :-D

17-10 Vicks at the half.

Speaking of Vick...he sucks. He re-injured his knee too. But is still in there. Hmmm....Vick's offense puts up 3 points (14 came off of returns) on the terrible Aints. Schaub puts up 28 on the Pats.

Mike Vick = superstar!

Chiefs offense is still mighty zesty.
Come on Jaguars! I need you to win.
Same with the Bengals! The Titans are beating you? Let's go Chad Johnson, score for me!

Kevin Jones is not even in the game half the time. And when he is he sucks. Can ya give me a charity TD?
Title: Re: Around The NFL -- Week 6
Post by: QB Eagles on October 16, 2005, 02:43:39 PM
Jacksonville is really outplaying the Steelers. The refs screwed the Jags down at the goal-line. If the game keeps going as it has so far, you have to see the Jags coming back to win.

Matt Jones with a TD. I've been rooting for the guy to successfully make the transition from QB to WR. He might be on his way.

1. Hey Atlanta defense....EAT MY ASS you losers. Thanks for giving up that late TD to tie it at 31. How can the Packers kill the Saints last week and then the Marvelous Vucks struggle?

2. Horrible call on Tony Bryant of the Saints on that missed FG. Just flat out terrible. The Vicks are the NFL's golden boys.

3. nice job by Dallas. :-D 2 plays with :48 to go and they let NY score. So what if the Boys won? That's good. Now all NFCE teams have 2 losses.

I have one bet left out there. It can make up for my 3 losses so far today. If NE wins or loses by less than 3 then I win the parlay.

Go Pats.

Drunk Kerry threw another deep one to him in double coverage.  Basically all 3 players collided with Moss kind of in the middle.  Didn't look like the contact was too bad on the replay but that he may have hurt himself on the landing.

Should have been defensive pi on the play but refs didn't call it.

Moss now walking on the sideline....but hurting.

Moss was back on the field for that Jordan TD as well so I guess he wasn't hurt too bad.  Looking at the replay, he landed directly on his back so I'm guessing he got the wind knocked out of him and maybe bruised his ass bone.

My FF league that I am actually paying attention to is doing very well thanks to this guy. Sucks I can't root for him next week or start him because he's up against the Eagles(who will end his streak with a TD).

Yawn all you want to but I've won a nice chunk of change over the years playing in a money league.   Cost is $50 a year so even if I lose (which I haven't yet) then I'm only out $50.  But by placing 3rd or better I'm going to triple my money at the very least.

If you are rooting for LT to do well if the Eagles are comfortably ahead then I guess it's ok. But if it's 21-21 in the 4th and LT breaks a big run and you get up and scream GO GO GO! TOUCHDOWN!!

Then it has lessened you as a fan, regardless of money. Winning a Superbowl is priceless.

I don't think they're pulling him.  He had a huge run to start that drive and then I think they pulled him out to give him a breather.  My guess is that they wanted to rest him for a few extra minutes so he can carry the load late in the game.

Givens dropped a very catchable ball on that final drive and then Branch dropped one on 3rd and 20 that would have given the Pats a managable 4th and 1, maybe 2.  Brady did what he needed to but the usually sure handed Pats recievers couldn't hang on.

Pats are human after all.

And to think, the Eagles could have had him.  Nay, the Eagles should have had him.  The Dirty 30 is the smartest.  :-D

If you're watching the game, take a good look at the crowd whenever they point the cameras toward the stands.  I'd say about 25% of the people there are wearing Seahawks gear.  The rest are all wearing their tweed blazers, turtlenecks and sweater vests.  Faring bunch of chodes.

Jacksonville +3 1/2
Indy -13 1/2  (I think that was an emotional bet instead of a smart bet, but what the hell)

Push

I'm still pissed that the goddamn Falcons let the goddamn Saints drive the length of the goddamn field in less than 2 goddamn minutes. Cost me two goddamn parlays.

But I made up for it tonight with the Seahawks (-9.5) and the over (41) and the White Sox (-130) and the over (8 runs).

I still think its hilarious that the Cowboys let the Jints score with :48 left.

Title: Re: Around The NFL -- Week 6
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on October 17, 2005, 02:24:14 AM
Yeah, I was pretty angry today, Sarge. Mike Vick is terrible. And so is that Atlanta defense. I think Baldinger was doing the Vicks game today and on one play he said "you know, its plays like this (a scramble for a first down) that make him great. everyone says he can't read defenses or operate from the pocket but when he does this it is all worth it." Or some shtein like that.

Crayton broke his ankle? Now they'll have to play Peerless Price. He'll get to add to that 1 catch for -1 yard for $1.8M.

If Griese is done then they have to start Chris Simms. :-D
Title: Re: Around The NFL -- Week 6
Post by: WEST is GOD on October 17, 2005, 02:28:41 AM
The Falcons defense is overrated. The Eagles just made them look like HOFers in week one with their piss poor protection in the first half. They haven't really shut anyone down besides the Vikings, but who hasn't shut down the Vikings lately?

By the way, I don't know if this is credible or not, but PFT.com said they think the Vikings could possibly move Winfield, and Belichick vows to fix that defense, and the Pats could be be interested if the Vikings wanted to move him. Take it for what it's worth, just speculation, but they have nailed their share of stories here and there lately.
Title: Re: Around The NFL -- Week 6
Post by: PhillyPhreak54 on October 17, 2005, 02:46:48 AM
Yeah, I read that. But I seriously doubt they give Winfield away. They had CB troubles for years and now that they've paid him and don't really owe him a lot of bonus money anymore, it would be better to keep him. He's young and they can build arounf him and Smoot.

I do think they could deal Chavous though. That would make more sense.

It's not just that, the Falcons are your classic "dome" team being that the Defense is much better inside the Georgia Dome where they can get teh crowd behind them.  I forget the number, but more than 2/3 of their sacks last year came at home... and the only dominating performance the D has had on the road this year was at Buffalo where they were facing the worst starting QB in the past few years in Lostman.  Had Holcomb been starting, things could have been a lot different.  The Pats exploited their terrible secondary even inside the Dome.

The Saints were flat out robbed yesterday.

Rams are putting it on the Colts so far.  They went up 10-0 before the Colts offense took the field and were up 17-0 at the end of the first qtr.

Then the drunk, idiot kicker missed a FG and the Rams still lead.

Now Bulger's hurt and heading to the locker room.  WAR JAMIE MARTIN!

Gotta love the sleeper pick up of Kevin Curtis.  He's done well for me the past two weeks.

Gotta love controversies.  Edge fumbles and a Rams defender appears to fall on the ball.  One of the officials signals "Rams ball" and once the pile is cleared the ref overturns the call and gives it back to the Colts.  Manning better throw and effing TD here.

Well the Rams have no chance without Bulger...so he better come back after the half.

I think they'll finish up somewhere around 130, maybe a little more.  But to get 130 they need to average 11 td's a year for the next 4 years which is probably about what they average right now anyway.

He's had 10 or more every season since '99, so 11 is doable.

Funny, when Bulger was in the game, the Rams were running and passing all up and down the field vs the Colts...yet their defense is being lauded as the reason they won the game?  ???

Yes, it was indeed defense. The Colts win had nothing to do with the Edge rushing for 140+ and three (3) TDs (he should have had five...stupid pass to Wayne from the three and why the farg is he not in there on the goal line? Dominic farging Rhodes...BOOOO!)

He actually did make a pretty good tackle on one of the running plays. Later he was nowhere to be found when Jackson ran it up a huge void in the middle.

QuoteCowboys | Adams Out for Season
Mon, 17 Oct 2005 12:08:27 -0700

The NFL Network reports Dallas Cowboys OL Flozell Adams (knee) will miss the remainder of the 2005 season with a torn ACL.

Mark it down.  This injury will kill Dallas's offense.  And the one who'll suffer the most will be Jason Witten.

Just like Shockey last year and Gonzalez this year, losing a competent tackle means the TE has to stay home and block, else the QB gets killed.

That will have a domino effect on the rest of their passing game.

Terry Glenn won't be singled-up any longer; there will be deep help.  Defenses will blitz more.   The running game face more 8-in-the box.

QuoteDoctors who have examined Brian Griese's left knee believe that the Tampa Bay quarterback has both a torn ACL and MCL, multiple team sources have told ESPN's Chris Mortensen.

The Buccaneers have not yet made an announcement concerning the extent of the injuries. The injuries, however, are expected to keep Griese sidelined for the rest of the season.

Coach Jon Gruden had said the knee injury could sideline the Tampa Bay quarterback for weeks or possibly the season.

Gruden emphasized that the team had not received a firm diagnosis but raised the possibility that Griese, who has helped the Bucs to a 5-1 start, could be out for the season after being hurt during Sunday's 27-13 victory over Miami.

That all sounds kind of wishy washy to me.

Jim Johnson's defense, apparently. The Jags preach a "hold him up so someone else can hit him" scheme. I'm not entirely sure the 9ers have advanced to tackling yet in their complex defense.
