From this morning's Inky:
• The Eagles' 23-point loss to the Cowboys Sunday seems to have bolstered the confidence of the rest of the NFC East, which doesn't view the Birds as unbeatable anymore. "They way Dallas played the other day against them, people might be closing ground on the Eagles," Giants middle linebacker Antonio Pierce said. "Philly has been running the same offense for the last 5 years and people are starting to make plays on them."
• Cowboys owner Jerry Jones has been absolutely giddy since his team's upset of the Eagles. He called it the Cowboys' "best victory in 5 or 6 years" and thinks it could be a major turning point for his franchise. "I don't mean to get ahead of myself," he said. "But it can be a tremendous confidence booster for us and make us a different team from here on out." What if the Cowboys had lost and dropped to 2-3? "It would have been time for a come-to-Jesus meeting from the head coach on down about our direction," Jones said. "We have expectations."
As I said on another board, had I been Pierce, I wouldn't have put up some bulletin board material for the Eagles--especially when my team hadn't played them yet.
As for Jerry Jones, well, guess what Jerry--your team has a return engagement in Philly on MNF in November. What's going to happen if your team suffers another humiliation--will that SIGNIFICANT VICTORY IN 5 OR 6 YEARS be as insignificant as it should have been labeled.
From what I've read from some of the national media, most are giving it a "they've been here before" slant.
they certainly arent finished but the gap has closed...theres no guarantee anymore they will even win the division...but lets get this straight the gap has closed mostly because their qb can barely play and their wide receiver and running back a lot of the time dont look like they wanna play...it has more to do with injury and attitude than with anything else...
yes in terms of player personel the birds have come backwards from last year while the division has gone forward...but the gap closure has more to do with extracurricular stuff than anything else...without the injuries and drama the eagles would still be the class of the division
as for pierce i love it...thats exactly what the eagles need more of on their team...if you believe you can back it up then talk ish...puff your chest out...to many of the eagles take on their coaches laissez faire attitude...this type of attitude imo contributes to the eagles many failures in the big games...the nfc championship losses the superbowl...if the eagles need antonio pierce to talk ish for them to come out and put the giants on blast then they are in more trouble than anyone knows
You've wanted to have Pierce's man-babies since last season, though.
BTW, he's currently the centerpiece of a defense that truly sucks.
:-o
yawn.
LOL. The Cowpokes finally win one against the Eagles and Jones declares it the best win of the past 5-6 years.
How sad for him.
Also - what's with the Giants idiot running his sewer? Do they really think the Eagles are just going to fold their tents and go home?
Unreal.
:-D
Jerry Jones = Wannabe Steinbrenner = Complete Loser
I swear... on Nov. 14th... the Eagles can't possibly score too many points.
Eagles will re-open the gap next year. If they use all that friggin cap room they have on some help.
There is always one gap that will never close:

It's sad because it's true. But it's also funny.
Bye weeks can eat my balls.
Howie Long has also written the same thing.
With the big win over the Giants, the Cowboys are taking over the NFC East.
:-D
it shouldn't be a surprise, the Cowboys are the hot team right now and the Eagles didn't even play this week, they are out of the mind of all these short attention span morons who can't remember the outrageous claims they make from week to week.
every week, each one of these tools calls whatever player they see in that highlight, the best in the NFL, it's a joke.
The Eagles suck, guys. We should all just face the facts, put away the cheesesteaks and go home.

Injuries are the great equalizer in the NFL--now the Cowboys wil either have to shuffle their OL, or put Torrin Tucker(WHO COULDN'T BEAT OUT A ROOKIE 6TH ROUND PICK AT RT), at LT. Crayton was a sparkplug for their STs--and Parcells HASN'T ENDORSED Peerless Price as Crayton's replacement as the 3rd WR. So all of those smug interviews and looks after the Eagles game--now's the time for them to start turning into worrying frowns.
