Title: When do you expect Moats to be activated?
Post by: WEST is GOD on October 14, 2005, 11:02:34 PM
Do you guys think it will even be this season? I just want to see what this guy can give us out there. Nothing bad can come out of it, and only a lot of good. I'm tired of hearing the playbook excuse. It is a poor one. Put him the hell out there already.

When? WHen Westbrook gets hurt or when the games stop mattering. Until then, he's getting ass splinters.

1pm Sunday October 23rd vs. San Diego Chargers...

I believe we'll see #23 returning the kicks that day.

Exactly--three things will happen on that day, IMHO--

1. Moats will be returning kicks and be more involved in the running game

2. Westbrook will be returning punts

3. JJ will come out with some sort of new scheme on defense

Yeah, nothing bad can happen... except for when Moats doesn't pick up the blitzing defender allowing him to break McNabb in half.

I swear.  I love Moats just as much as the next guy but for his sake, I hope he's all that everyone is hyping him up to be.  He doesn't even have the luxury of LEARNING!

You simply don't put him in on pass protection plays, or if you do, make it simple plays that he knows.

Right, because we don't telegraph what plays are coming enough as it is with Parry out there, let's put a rookie out there. McNabb's not earning his paycheck, he should be running for his life on every play.

That simple, huh?  How long do you think it'll take defenses to pick up on that.  A series?  Maybe two?

Period.

Good idea to take some carries away from Westbrook. He is running way too much.

If we can limit Westbrook to one touch a game just think of how effective he'll be in January.

And then a coach, opposing player, Ray Charles...whomever...will start yelling that since #23 is out there they're running it.

You don't have to run it, but you can put him out on plays where they don't need to use Moats to block.

and how would the defense know they are running it? If the Eagles activate Moats the other team is going to assume they will use him for everything.

I'll just cut and paste my last response:

Moats will be fine. He'll have no trouble picking up blocks. He'll be used to run, block and pass receive. I'm sick of all of this delaying. Football is a simple game. Just put him out there already.

Football is not a simple game.  It's extremely complex at the NFL level.

Insisting that Moats will be fine when he doesn't even have the full confidence of the coaching staff yet is wishful thinking at best.

People try to overcomplicate football. I think it was Parcells who said it best. He said something like football is a simple game. You run, you catch, you pass, you block, and you tackle.

I don't care if the coaching staff doesn't have confidence in him. Them having confidence in Mahe tells me all I need to know, and that is they aren't right all the time.

Whatever, dude.

Considering the fact that they're seasoned & successful professionals and you're just a guy pontificating on an internet message board, I'm going to go ahead and trust that they know what they're doing with Moats.

lol. yeah, i can hear it now

reid: "well ryan, you dont know any plays, but what the hell, go run whereever you want. dont worry about it. yee-haw!"

if the guy doesnt know what he's doing, WHY does anyone want him out there. if he doesnt know what he's doing, NOTHING GOOD can come from it.
