So, I used to be a code monkey and am interviewing for another developer job this week. I haven't written a line of code in almost two years so I have to go home and study Perl and relational databases tonight for my interview instead of drinking 5 beers and falling asleep on my ladyfriend. Gay.
beer is a good study aid.
Perl? Barf.
Relational DB's? Double barf.
Is your new job going to be in Boston still? Quintuple barf.
Agreed. Perl is farging easy, though. I taught myself the language years ago in about a week. Hopefully I can refresh in 2 nights. I hated writing code but I hate working for a living more, and writing code is hardly working at all. T-Minus 10 and a half months until the ladyfriend supports my ass.
2 nights. hmmm. maybe I should write code.
sounds teh ghey
Better than watching the Carolina D ass-farg Favre for three hours, to the tune of Madden-manlove. :puke

When you put it that way I think I'm gonna have to watch some 'rasslin 2nite.
I need GB's kicker to get less than 3 points tonight. Very badly.

One day with Chuggie and you're ready to bat for the other team. Somebody stage an intervention here.
I write in Perl every day. One of the best languages from a sysadmin point of view.

More like 3 days. The entire time he was here I slept on my back with one eye open in order to keep my brown eye shut.
I knew you saw me comin when I tickled your throat with my man-ness....I knew you were playing 'sleep. Liar.

The taterskins fan? I don't even want to know what you mean by "supports my ass." taterskins Lover.
Your lady friend's name is Gay?
Wow. Talk about ironic...
yeah, looks like RJS was studying. ha.

Ha! Awesome. Also, Brett Favre's huge night won me one of my other matchups. So somehow, Favre blew up, but their kicker only got 1 extra point, winning me two ffl matchups. I'm so money it farging hurts.
Oh yeah, and THawk gets animal porn for calling me a farging taterskins Lover. Eat shtein and choke.
get your nerd on.
rjs a techie, who da thunk it.

It's spelled
Trekkie, bro.
Of course, I think they prefer to be called Trekker's so...
:paranoid
i heard his lady friend like him to give her the "SPOCKER" (http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=spocker)

PS: What is it with no one being able to conjugate their verbs today?
conjugating is overrated
i'm married with a kid, i get very little conjugation.

Interview went well-ish. Being asked back for a second.
Your under-the-desk experience will really help you out in the second interview. Good luck.

Ha HA! Eat it, jerks.
Get back to your cage, monkey.
Because you all care, here's the feedback I got:
Technically weak. (Weird, since I had to cram for two nights prior.)
Perfect fit for the company. (Because I rule and people love me.)
Want to interview me for a Professional Services or Technical Operations positions or possibly create a position for me. (Word.)
So things are looking up.
Now watch, I'll bomb my second interview.

company fluffer sounds like a perfect fit.
Company booze-donkey is more like it.
My advise: Go in loaded and answer each question put to you with passages of dialogue from "Caddyshack."
It's got to be better than using your own wit and personality.
Good luck!
:)
I prefer Fletch, but your tips will be taken under advisement.

Is that anything like company punch-donkey?
Second interview is tomorrow at 1pm. I know you're all on the edge of your seat so I'll be sure to let you know how it goes. Seriously, stop IMing me. Jesus.
i guess in a weird way i hope you do well, good luck.
right now rjs is sitting in a conference room explaining to some hr dork why he can't wait to get home and view the BOTW.
how'd it go rjs?
It went well. I kicked ass. Now I probably won't get an offer.
yeah, it's not nice to kick their ass during an interview, be a little nicer next time. good luck.
Well the company that spawned this thread originally came back with this little nugget... "You're very bright but seem a little overly confident, how's 45k a year sound?" I told them it sounded like a throat stomping.
Been interviewing with two other places and got offers from both today, ranging from 70-80. The one making less is doing something I would like to do in a good company. The one making more is doing something I dont' really want to do in an equally good company, that is about 45 minutes away. Commuting for that ass.
So that's where things are. You can all eat it.
Avoid the commuting.
I'm moving towards a career change now, too. I'll be sure to not keep you all posted.
I commute 45 min. a day for school. Route 30 eats fecal matter, as does commuting.

The board can only feign interest in one person bettering himself professionally at a time. I don't want to overload it.
It's more of a morbid curiosity than actual interest. We want to see his miserable attitude get worse when he has to take a job he doesn't really like.

I hadn't noticed too much feigning. I just figured that since I started this thread I might as well close the loop. Also, chances are that I won't be on here as much with the relocation. Try not to cry yourselves to sleep.
He's going to think it's short-term until his ladyfriend can start supporting him, but then she'll leave him, so he'll be stuck there forever, kind of like Dilbert, but with slightly worse hair.

At least then I could cash out and become the degenerate gambler/alcoholic/-worthless-strip-club-guy that I've always wanted to become.
Couldn't you just live the dream starting today? Why wait?
I've got a dog to feed, man. Though she's been looking more and more delicious by the day. Anyone ever had a spitfire-roasted great dane?

We always joke about grilling our basset hound, but I'll just continue to order cheap Korean food when I want dog.
