I'm reading on other MBs that Eskin said today that the Birds were going to cut Grasmanis last week and activate France. And that Walker's injury stopped them from doing that.
Before I get the "dude, it was Eskin" responses...I'm well aware of that and I don't necessarily believe it.
However...if Eskin was right...
Why would they cut him? His salary is guaranteed and even if DW wasn't hurting they'd only have 4 DTs.
Why not cut that useless #34 or Thornburg?
Has Reid had a brain cramp lately?
Because Thornburg is awesome.
Cause he old.
bluto
I couldn't see Reid going with only 4 DTs; DTs are hard to find and they are subject to a lot of wear and tear.
The only way Gras gets cut is if they promote Marshall.
dude, it was Eskin

Like the Phillies playoff chances...
:-D
We all know AR likes Reno for whatever reason, and a young kid like Thornburg has a much better chance of being picked up to play special teams for someone else than an old vet like Gras. With Marshall on the PS also, cutting Gras would be a low risk move.
I can't believe Reno is not the obvious choice for any roster moves...
Can't figure it out.
I don't feel like looking it up, but has Gras done anything in a while?

In 2003, he played in 2 games, recording 6 tackles (4 solo) and 1 sack. Last year, he appeared in 4 games, recording 10 tackles (all solo). In Sunday's game, he had himself one solo tackle.
That's everything since the end of 2002.
We should trade him for Simon.
why is this even an issue
grasmanis is old
virtually worthless
has no chance of garnering interest from anyone
therefore he could be brought back at any time
now the same could also be said for thornbutt and reno and probably several other players...but again who cares
I just find it interesting/questionable that he'd cut Gras and go with 4 DTs. Unless, like previously mentioned they'd call up Marshall.
And if they call up Marshall...they still need another roster spot.
In today's Inky Brookover said that Thornburg could be the one gone today to make room for France.
And he also said Alonzo Jackson could be activated if Juqua Thomas cannot play on Sunday.
So who gets cut if Jackson has to come up?
Hopefully Reno!
spoiler alert on the inky 411...i havent read the papers yet
for real tho did it say that thomas might play...i thought he was definitely out

Didn't say yes or no, just said if he can't go Jackson could be activated from the PS.
He has only a strain. They thought he had cartiledge damage but the MRI showed nothing.
If Walker was healthy I doubt they'd consider activating Jackson because DW can slide out to DE. But since he's out...they'll need another end,
i smell a trent cole coming out party
Could be.
With those OTs the Chiefs put out there I think William Fuller could play this week and get a sack or three.

If I remember correctly, an unnamed source said last year "that if Gras was a horse, they'd shoot him". :P
That was this year... :-D
And Jamaal Jackson is a "effing puss" :o

There may be a surprise "send-a-message" cut coming soon if the special teams errors aren't rectified. Those opening penalties on the kickoff essentially gave Oakland 7 points. :boom

Well the first was on Matt Ware and the 2nd on Juqua Thomas...they're not getting cut.
But if you noticed...ol' Reno Mahe has been replaced on kickoffs. He used to be the blocker. But Hood moved to blocker and Wynn returned.
I wouldn't be so certain about Ware. You'd think you would've seen more of him against Oakland's big receivers, so I guess he's strictly a special teamer now. Perhaps they wanna get Considine some reps there? :evil
No way they cut Ware. Not a chance in hell, bro.
Im surprised Gras ever made the roster this year in the first place.

Well he's essentially in the same position as Caver was before he became the "surprise cut": Impressive physically, high draft pick, in his second year, stuck on STs...

Have you started the crack again, bro? :D
Again, what has Ware done to secure himself? He's the #5 corner! :-D
1. Depth. Just like the few on another MB who thought Rod Hood could be trade bait ths off-season. You don't give up depth for the helluva it.
2. Unlike Caver, Ware is good on STs.
3. He really hasn't had a shot to play much because of the top 3 corners. Wynn gets the 4th nod when they activate 4 because of PR. And now that Ware is being activated that tels me that he's good on STs.
Jeremy Thornburg or Reno Mahe or even Calvin Armstrong are better cut options now.
Im shocked Grasshoppper made the team too. I think hes safe for now.
Cats like Thorn-penguin, Mahe, Armstrong, and McMullen are people I see with a shot to leave.
they called jamaal jackson a puss?
No way Ware would get cut instead of Thornburg. It's amazing the Eagles carried 5 safeties in the first place.

Team Thornburg would like to ask that everyone stop hating on the J-man right now. He didn't do anything wrong. We would like to redirect your attention to Mr. Reno "I'm a mormon, so I can't be cut" Mahe or Mr. Mark "I can't tackle but I play special teams anyway" Simoneau.

i have no problem with them cutting Grass. Hes worthless.
Mahe is more valuable to this team than is Thornburg... sadly.

That's splitting hairs. They could both be launched into the sun and no one would notice.

Good - I feel better now. You were agreeing with me too much for awhile there...
Anyway, you can bite my shiny white ass. If cutting JT was such a no-brainer, he would have been cut on Monday, if not sometime last week. If he is so farging useless, why did they put him on the roster in the first place? No my friend, Andy and co have other plans for the (soon to be) great Thornburg.

Yeah you wonder why France hasn't been promoted yet. I'd thought they do it Tuesday.

That's the only thing that gives the Grasmanis rumor any credibility - if they were going to cut a "barely made the roster anyway" player, they would have done it already. The delay seems to indicate that they are waiting to see how something (Darwin Walker back on the field?) pans out this week...

Actually, those opening penalties on the kickoff were a result of Akers slowing down as he got to the ball--it threw the timing off for the rest of the team going forward. The broadcast team asked that question, and Mike Bartrum, in an interview on Monday confirmed that's what happened. No way if Akers is healthy do they get called for TWO offsides penalty on the opening KO.

This from PE.com on the story about McNabb's injury, down at the bottom---
As for injured defensive tackle Darwin Walker, Reid said it "will be a stretch" for him to play Sunday, however Walker is "making progress" in rehabbing a thigh contusion suffered last Friday.
By the way...
Juqua Thomas is playing this week. He said in the paper this morning.
