If this has been put in another thread, I apologize. IF (notice I put that in BIG LETTERS) Reid decides to sit McNabb for at least two games, who WOULD YOU like to see start?
Myself, it would have to be McMahon, largely, because he has mobility over Koy, a somewhat stronger arm, and if Koy got hurt again, McMahon would have to learn how to hold on FG and EXP attempts.
This has been talked about at LARGE on this board before.
And why in the hell would McMahon have to learn to hold? Koy would still be the #2 behind McMahon.
I don't think there's anyone on here who wants Koy in for an extended period of time.
The idea of Koy under center against any non-49er team makes me want to shtein in my pants.

I said if Koy got hurt, like he did in 2002, when HE COULDN'T HOLD for 2 or 3 games.
What point does that have to do with anything.
Koy wouldn't get hurt because he wouldn't be starting a game in place of McNabb.
Who is the backup holder these days? Used to be Chad....
Never mind - it's the punter.
I think it's Bartrum. He snaps in a high arc, then runs back to hold. Dude's good.
As long as he doesn't have to kick it. Man, watching that was painful.
Koy knows the offense. He sucks but at least he's familiar with it so I'd go with him.
I'd also run Westbrook & Gordon about 40 times a game but that's just me.

hey, lay off the best long snapper in the league, he's not a kicker.
Go easy, T. Not only is he the best long snapper, he had the best TD celebration of the year!
But he ain't no kicker.

I don't think Koy would even want to be in for an extended period of time.
Id give Koy a shot.
It's not like McMahon has a history of awesome quarterbacking.
I'd go McMahon, for reasons already stated...has a better arm/mobility, and would preserve Koy as holder, which will also be important with a new/young kicker filling in for Akers.
But, I'd go McMahon with a much more balanced running game using Westy/Gordon/Moats, so McMahon could try to settle down and get comfortable, and not be the total spaz he was at times in the preseason.
At least we're not in the Jets' QB situation (knock wood)...sheesh, is that bad luck.
Neck Beard so we can watch what he does after he gets a touchdown.
aj
Detmer
1) Knows the offense (so Reid would still call more passes than runs)
2) Fragile and weak-armed
3) Can bench 150
4) Has a cool celebration
McMahon
1) Bigger arm and faster
2) Will force throws and make harum-scarum decisions
3) Looks like a cross between Gannon and Marino
4) From Rutgers
Put Koy in and erase 90% of the pass plays from Reid's chart.

So, that negates point # 1 and leaves us with:

"Spank It" Celebration >> McMahon's skills ;D
Call me crazy, but I still have confidence in Koy. I know he's looked lousy when he's had the chance to play lately, but a lot of the times he was lining up with the 2nd stringers against other teams 1st stringers. He's the type of guy who's reliable because he knows the offense so well, and would use his lack of arm strength to hit receivers on the move.
koy is brutal.
plus, kc's D has trouble with qb's who bootleg and roll out so i'd go with mcmahon.

Exactly. I stayed up over here to watch that game last night, and I couldn't believe how easy KC's defense went with the runner on the rollouts. The American guy who does the analysis of all the Sunday night/Monday night games also said in his opinion, Kawika Mitchell isn't suited for MLB--in the wrong place, not stout enough....

Okay...i'm calling you crazy like you asked. He blows and will lead this team straight down to the bottom of the NFC East.

I'm with SD, Koy is the man until it's proven otherwise. How many people feel that even if McNabb is able to play maybe he should sit this non-division game?
Had we started 3-0, maybe you sit McNabb in this game. Good luck convincing him he's not going to play in that scenario though.
And I like the fact that were catching KC on a short week after getting their a@@ handed to them...
i dont really care
if i had pick i suppose mcmahon just because its someone different
plus i often get nauseous watching detmer play
I'd rather have Koy right now depending on the situation. Mcmahon is way too out of control for quality defensive coached teams. There will be 3 receivers wide open and he'll just take off and run with it. Mcmahon's crazy.
If I were the head coach, I'd seriously think about benching Donovan this week and letting him rest. I'd then start McMahon, and have my offensive coaches devise a plan to run the ball using Westy/Gordon/Moats. And, then I'd fill my free coaches seats with hot chicks.
Honestly, I'd let him rest...and, if he wasn't significantly better next week, I'd sit him against Dallas and wait until after the bye to start him again. They can make him the emergency QB for this week, if he's up to it, in case of disaster.
They need him in November, December, and (hopefully) the playoffs, not necessarily in October.
Is this like being on your death bed and having the Reaper come and ask you if you'd prefer to die by suffocation or heart attack?
If Koy started they'd construct the gameplan to what he does well. Like they did in that SF MNF game in 2002. And Reid would run it more.
If McMahon starts he is a risk taker and they'd have to cut down on some of the playbook.
Start Koy, if he struggles put in McMahon.
Andy Hall.
Bitches.
