I'm just curious. Smallwood is pimping for Westbrook while David Aldridge is out begging for Akers. Is that their job? Why are they so interested in what the players are being paid and why do they think any of us gives a shtein?
Hasn't this been covered ad nauseum already or are they merely kissing the players' asses in the hopes of getting exclusives from them? Is this a quid pro quo situation, and if so, should they be reprimanded by their bosses for shamelessly pimping themselves out on behalf of the athletes they're supposed to be covering with impartiality?

Why are they doing it? Because they know when the fans read it they'll go..."You know? These guys are right! Give Westbrook, Akers and Owens the money!" And then WIP picks it up and the snowball is rolling into a bigger one.
But they do need to pay Westbrook. Pay him now.
I agree that they should be paid royally, Phreak. They've earned it.
However, it just seems "funny" that two of them would write nearly identical pieces about issues that are clearly none of their business.
I'm really sick of the editorial decisions being made at Philly.com these days. It's worse than tabloid journalism anymore. That's all I'm saying.
I don't disagree, Romey. I was pissed last week at the Inky/Daily News whining about the OL not talking and them ripping TO for not talking when they spent 4 months writing for him to shut up and play.
By the way...here's is why they need to pay Westbrook. Remember in one of Westbrook's whine-sessions when he said teams gameplan around him and look for him?

Westy presented an OUTSTANDING case for why he thinks he should be paid at least as much as the over-compensated 16 carries for 19 yards Lamont Jordan. I still wouldn't sign him for more than three years because I don't think he'll last past three more years, but the Eagles would be wise to raise their offer to restart negotiations...get it done now, while part of the signing bonus can count towards the 2005 cap.
