Much like there were few positives to take away from last week's game, there aren't a whole lot of negatives to talk about this week.
McNabb was excellent. He didn't take off running today either however he did move around today rather than stay in the pocket all game. He was accurate and made pretty good reads. Other than the fumble, McNabb was spectacular.
The O-line showed up to play today. Only 1 or 2 penalties that I can remember on the line today. SF got very little pressure on McNabb today. As the game went on they were able to open up some running lanes for Westy and Gordon. Much better than a week ago. :yay
LJ Smith. Where the hell did this guy come from? Career day for LJ today. He was excellent not only looking the ball into his hands but once he secured the ball he was making people miss.
Westy got off to a slow start running today but finished near 100 yards rushing and around 130 in total yards while finding the endzone again. Solid performance.
TO was TO. He and McNabb are on the same page and they seem to have put the offseason behind them. Look out now.
Parry was decent today. I'd like to see him do a little more in the blocking aspect of the game but he did make a couple of nice catches and I don't remember him dropping any. So well done to him.
D-line got pretty good pressure today. I thought Hollis played a nice game, especially against the run.
Dhani Jones. Here's a guy who was invisible last week but he made a few nice plays today. That interception was beautiful. It's not too often that you see linebackers making those types of plays.
Dawkins had a solid game as did the entire secondary.
Special Teams coverage was solid again today. Akers' leg is a concern. I'm wondering what the hell Reid was thinking by letting him kick the ball in the second half today. He wasn't getting any distance on it and his last kick bounced from the 30 to the 20 before SF fielded it. Bartrum can do that. There was absolutely no reason to put Akers out there imo because if he seriously injures himself then it does make things a little harder on the rest of the team.
I guess no matter how well things go in a game, we Eagles fans are going to bitch about something. And the decision to keep running Akers out there is the thing that I'm going to bitch about. Words just can't express how stupid that was to keep sending him out there. :boom :boom :boom :boom
Ok, that's all for me. I'm starting to get pissed off instead of enjoying this ass whooping. So to sum things up, it was an ass kicking just as it should have been. Whooping up on the 9ers isn't something to be "proud" of because there was no reason what so ever for that team to hang with the Eagles on the field today.
Andrews shoulder contusion
MRI tomorrow
I think he stayed in the game though
Oh and one thing to note was that TO didn't get a catch in the 2nd half. He only played in the 3rd quarter basically though.
1. Shawn Andrews has a shoulder contusion (MRI tomorrow). The same injury he had in camp. Adrien Clarke came in and played pretty well for him.
2. Artis Hicks was better today, but he got blown up on one play and almost got Westbrook killed. Brian cut out of trouble and got a nice gain though.
3. I wanted a fargin shutout.
4. Mike Patterson really gets a good push
5. Hollis Thomas again was solid...almost had an INT
6. Dhani's INT was nice
7. I like the Gordon pick-up
I wonder if Reid put Akers back there figuring it was easier to replace a kicker than it was to replace a good long snapper. :paranoid
At least Akers got it to the 10 on his last kick. Still worried about that leg, though.
Everyone impressed me today. The game was nearly flawless. I was a little irked by the screw up down in the red zone with the 9 yard loss and then the subsequent McNabb fumble, but it was more so because I want them to capitalize in that territory. Sure, it didn't cost them, but whenever you are in the red zone you need to put points up. I just don't want bad habits to form inside that territory, especially when we face more talented teams down the road.
LJ played awesome, and I really love the addition of Lamar Gordon. He's a player who can really do what we would have hoped Buckhalter could have done for us over the last few seasons. He's a great compliment to Westbrook and he showed an ability to catch passes out of the backfield.
I liked Dorsey, but when you can pick up a 25 year old with better speed, vision, athletic ability, and quickness, then, well, its a no brainer. yeah, Dorsey knows the system, but so does Andy. That doesn't mean we are going to be lining him up in the backfield on short yardage situations. I think Lamar can really help us out in the long haul and help pick up tough yards and break some nice gains between the tackles. Great pickup for the Eagles.
Everyone played so well today. The team came out and showed they are the elite team in the NFC. Took care of business and never looked back. This is the team I was hoping would have shown up today and I loved every minute of it.

it's nice to see some of you finally seeing the light & hopping on the gordon bandwagon...he friggin rules. :yay
good game today...i wish they could play the niners every week.
I thought we looked awful today. We gave up too many yards on D, and our Offense was inconsistent in the second half. ;D
Daunte is nothing without Randy.
Seriously... what bad can you say about a 42-3 ass whoopin?!
I guess all the negative has to do with Akers. I'm worried when "Mr. Automatic" ain't so.... automatic. Who knows, maybe that hammy that he tweaked today has been the problem all along though.
Everyone contributed today... EVERYONE. Even McCants... who probably knows about 2 plays got into the act. 11 different players on offense caught a pass, 3 players had INT's (Dhani's was a thing of beauty!), 3 had sacks... there was pressure on Rattay all day long. Simoneau kicked a fargin' XP for christ's sake! Lamar Gordon... hell yeah! :yay
The bottom line is the Eagles needed to come out and make a statement that says, "Hey, we're still here and we need to be dealt with in the NFC!" and (even though it was the Niners) they did just that.
To make it even sweeter is the Falcons are getting their asses handed to them right now, 21-0! :evil
The Falcons blew their load last week. I think most of us have been aware of that. They're still a good team and should be in the playoffs but they are not on the same level as the Eagles imo. They got fired up for one game. That was it. Now they can go back to being above average in a below average division.
Westbrook danced a bit too much, but he managed to pick up big chunks of yards on the plays that actually worked.
Trotter sucks. Start Simoneau.
TO's TD celebrations were weak.
Who does he think he is with that shtein? Its insulting.

The Eagles beat a team there suppose to beat and they did it very convincingly :yay
QuoteFormer L.A. Rams wide receiver Willie "Flipper" Anderson was watching the Eagles/49ers game intently. At one point in the second quarter, Terrell Owens had 5 catches for 143 yards. Lucky for Anderson, the Eagles went conservative in the second half and eventually took the starters out of the game. Still, Anderson was biting his nails while watching the game.
"I thought that was it," said Anderson, who feared that his record 336 yard performance on Monday Night Football was in jeopardy, "When I saw him catch that second touchdown, it was obvious that whole secondary couldn't run with him. He was shooting away from them like the Millennium Falcon ;D. I was pretty sure he was gonna have both records."

McNabb 23 for 29, 342 yds., 5 TD's, O INT's
What a game for McNabb, he did what he was supposed to do against a crappy secondary. He cut up the Niners like a surgeon.
The funny thing is TO wanted to get back in and score another TD on a bomb. He said on hsi radio show this game wasn't any more meaningful than any other game.
No more meaningful my ass. That would've been awesome though. Koy2TO4theTD.
Game notes: McNabbs 5 TD's were the second time he's done it, the first against Green Bay last year, Dec. 5. The 583 total yards is a team record, they had 582 against Cleveland Nov. 7, 1965. Koy Detmer was a perfect 9 for 9. Even our backups used and abused a pathetic Niners team. Eagles had 140 yards rushing. McNabb had a qb rating of 155.4, the highest of his career.
One more, the Niners only managed a weak 142 yards on offense.
Wow, Niners fans sure are classy (http://www.49erswebzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/board.cgi?board=main&action=display&num=304600)
Notice the 2 idiots talking are the 2 hungry hungry hippos who didn't come back to take their lumps.
McNabb's 1st touchdown to Owens is exactly why I hate when people bring up his running whenever they lose. He could've been Mike Vick on that play and run and gotten the 1st down, taking a hit in the meanwhile. Instead, he bought time and threw a touchdown pass. His running is such an overblown criticism and it's the same standard crap that people whine about whenever they lose.
I'll go out on a limb and say that I believe the Eagles had a fairly productive game yesterday.
Now, I'd usually charge for that insight, but I'll pass it along to you for free as part of my introductory offer.

yeah, you're right, a dumb slit proclaiming she wasn't impressed and that McNabb didn't look sharp, that's a good thing
Nice use of dumb slit, by the way.

You know what you call a fan base that doesn't ever complain about its team? taterskins fans. Stop complainaing about fans complaining. It shows passion.

Did you punch her in the face? If not, you should've. Knock her teeth right out of her empty head.
Stupid bitch.

it was on Comcast last night, they did a thing on SportsNite at around 10:30 about the fans and she was one they interviewed
i have a good idea phreak, never turn WIP on. It will save years of you life.
was our governer finding things to bitch about? i imagine he was
by the way:
Kearse doesn't have a sack yet because he's savin' em for teams that count. He didn't want "cheap" ones vs. the Niners. That's too easy. This week, he'll have at least a sack.

I've been listening less and less....Today was the first time I listened since my way home from work Friday.
Kearse's sack numbers don't tell the story of Kearse.
He got shtein last year for low sack count, but his hurries on QBs where they were forced to throw INTs or out of bounds on a 3rd and long....THOSE are what you have to keep in mind.
Stats don't tell the story at all

I'm aware of this. I just figured i'd make some shtein up, since I'm doin' the whole "official sponsor of Jevon Kearse" thing.

I know you are....I am talking about those complaining about Kearse not getting enough sacks. ;)
LOL...classy fans (http://www.49erswebzone.com/cgi-bin/forum/board.cgi?board=main&action=display&num=305728)
I've been listening to WIP less and less too. Not because the callers or hosts annoy me, but because the talk is getting repetitive. Same stuff over and over. If it's something new I'll listen. Like right after an Eagles game or something or if someone makes a trade.
I usually have it on in the backround but tune it out.

Everyone here would say the same thing if it was a player we hated.
Classy fans suck.

Yes, but the question is, how does it go about tuning you out? That's what we're all dying to know.
That is a secret only I will know, but I'll tell you when the Eagles finally hoist the Lombardi Trophy. Does that sound fair?

What if he told you he wanted to nibble on your ear?
If the Eagles were lifting the trophy I'd probably let him. I'm not afraid to admit it. As soon as he tried to reach for the meat, then we'd have problems.
:-D
