I figured that, since some of you are more technical minded than I, I could seek help here.
I just installed Nortions Internet Security. Now I cannot get the internet on AT ALL- I get the "Page Cannot Be Displayed" message.
I am on a cable modem with a wireless internet link. I know that the wireless works, because I am on my laptop using it's own wireless.
The wireless on my disconnected desktop says that it has an excellent connection.
Does anyone here have any ideas? ??? :boom
If you can't get to the internet, how did you post that?
1. Turned it off
2. Got on a different machine
3. Fixed while drunk and doesn't remember
4. Just answer the question dingus.

Actually, I had that problem - I had to go into my control panel and change some of the norton security settings from "red" to "green" (I wish I remembered more details than that). Whatever it is, it's fixable.
'cause, you totally didn't know that, of course. :sly

From my laptop. I'm online with a "service tech" right now- you know, the one with the list of "things to do" when it doesn't work.
Defragment my hard drive? I just got this computer two months ago. 91% of the hard drive is EMPTY. :boom
Still no internet on the desktop. :boom
Did you disable/uninstall any other anti virus software you may have been running prior to installing Norton?

I don't have any other anti-virus software. This is just a continuation of my subscription and an upgrade.
I now can access the internet while my firewall is disabled, but not when I enable it.
Stupid computers. :boom
Oh ok. Didn't know that you were just updating stuff.
Because I know that you're all hanging on the edge of your seats waiting to find out how my Nortions affair ends up... :-D
I spent several hours online (with my laptop) with their outsourced service representative, Roopesh S. After trying about 42 different things to "fix the problem," and none working, he finally told me I had to completely eradicate the program from my system, including the registry.
It took me a week to get to it because my son and wife have taken turns being extremely ill, and I've had to play Mr. Mom.
When I finally had a block of time to work and concentrate this morning (thanks to my sister taking my son for the day), I decided that I was not going to fool with the registry keys. I did a straight uninstall/reinstall, figuring that if it didn't work, I would do a system restore (the computer is only a couple of months old, and I don't have a lot of extra programs installed) and start from scratch.
The uninstall/reinstall seems to have worked like a charm. :yay

Nortons destroyed my computer.
