I'm still at work >:(, and living in D.C, can't see it anyway. Wanna hear how McMahon, Moats and Brown are doing.....thanks!
They looked good running out on the field.
Go to hell Jarhead. :P
This has GOT to be on TV somewhere up here...
Where is "up here"?
2nd string defense got the start.
So far, Jets moving the ball fairly easily. Jets just got a first down at the Eagles 32 yd line.
Pennington complete to TE Chris Baker for 12 yards
Derrick Blaylock rushes for about 4 yards.
Blaylock up the middle to the 5 yard line. Eagles jumped offsides.
Now I know what it's like to be a Chiefs/Raiders/Colts fan...
The Jets are moving the ball at will on the 2nd stringers...
They've gone from their own 35 all the way down to the Eagles 10 yard line already.
Holding also called on the Jets. Replay 2nd down
http://www.nfl.com/gamecenter/live/NFL_20050901_NYJ@PHI
Jets have thier starters (minus C. Martin) on the field.
Pennington to Baker to the 5 yd line.
Blaylock looks pretty decent.
Blaylock up the middle. TD Jets

Blaylock looks pretty decent.
He was good in KC but burried behind Preist and LJ.
Well, that's all for my play by play as NFL Network has left the game and is now showing the Atlanta Mexicos vs Miami. :puke
Jets 1st string O cuts through the 2nd team D with ease...Blaylock does a baseball HR celebration and gets booed by the half empty stadium.
Found it. Channel 2. Just in time to see the last two plays. The second string D didn't put up much of a fight there, did they?
I just missed adding Blaylock last year. I was pissed.

Pennington only threw like 3 passes. It was mostly Blaylock running. It also didnt' help that Akers put the ball 4 yards deep in the endzone and the Jets ran it out to the 35 yard line either.
Moats got stood up pretty quick there.
BTW, since you're watching the game, how 'bout making yerself useful with a little pbp? ;)
Are the Jets playing their 1st team D as well?
Detmer to pass. Great pass to Reggie Brown.

NFL Network just went back to the game but it's a little behind. Just saw that play. :yay
Yes -- Jets #1 D is in....
Reggie Brown cut his dreads off...
Calvin Armstrong false starts...control your boy, Dio!
35 yards on that pass to Brown. We just drew a false start. And by "we" I mean Calvin. :(
Drunk Koy trying to run. :-D
Moats runs for the 1st down---about 9 yards on the run
Nice run by Moats.
Brown again on a quick seven yarder.
Detmer flushed forward out of the pocket and dumps an incomplete shuttle pass to Spach.
Mots looking good on a run that started inside and after a missed tackle, he made 8 yards or so to the outside right.
Detmer sacked. At least he's not flopping around.
On that scramble/incomplete shovel pass Detmer had Moats OPEN in the left flat.
Moats just got decleated.
Akers just misses a 51 yarder, off the upright.
0-2 from 51 yards in the preseason. No worries.
Thank God for commercial breaks. I can't pbp fast enough, plus read what y'all are writing.
Trying out the new routine though. Laptop in my lap, TV in front of me. Got the wireless network kickin'. Smooooooth.
Bollinger in the game. Just delaying the inevitable break-down of Pennington's shoulder.

Gotta love the wireless interweb. Best $50 I've spent in the last 2 years.
Jets stink it up on a 3 and out. Why they don't just keep handing the ball to Blaylock, I don't know. He looks good and our D isn't stopping him.
Touchback on the punt. Commercial break.
If they're that bad with Bollinger, I can't wait to see the amount of suckage they bring to the field with Fiedler.
Moats of right tackle, maybe a yard. meh.
Moats looks good. Same exact play on that one, gain of 4 or 5. But he's small. When a bid dude hits him, it looks rough.
Detmer underthrows someone on the right hash at the marker.
Punt by Landeta. Cotchery returns it 12 yards or so.

Boooooooooooo! Cut him.
My old lady and her friend keep trying to talk to me. I"m about to lay down some domestic abuse.
3rd and 10 for the Jests..Bolinger tucks and runs for 11. First down.
Domestic abuse is fun. The key to not getting caught is never hit the same spot twice. Spread the wealth.
Labinjo just laid their no name back out for a loss of one.
Rayburn with the sack.
Da Truck Driver. :yay
Nugent nails a 48 yard FG. By a good ten yards.
Here comes the kick off.
Announcers are creaming themselves over Nugent. Moats takes it out to the 30 from the 1 yard line.
Sean Landeta is like 97 years old. How is he still punting?
Detmer rolls left and passes to R. Brown for a first down, but we've got an illegal formation so it comes back.
Quote from: MDS on September 01, 2005, 08:11:34 PM

They've made tremendous progress with prosthetics.
Moats picks and bobs his way through traffic for 3 yards.
Detmer incomplete on a 10 yard pass to the sideline (R. Brown again) after it's tipped.
Neckbeard blows. :-D
Detmer out of the shotgun throws directly to Jets DB Bigby. Ritchie saves the TD with a nice tackle.
WTF? Does Detmer have some sort of man crush on Reggie?
He gets picked off the guy named after a video games system.
Flowers jukes Matt Ware out of his jock, advances for the first down.

Jets go for the run, lose a yard or two. Can't see who made the tackle cuz they went directly to a graphic.
Bledsoe is getting sucked off by the NFL Network guys for throwing a 40 yard TD to Terry Glenn. :puke
Flower runs on 3rd and 8. Mikell stops him before he makes 2 yards.
Rookie Nuge is good from 35.
13-0 Jets.
On the kickoff, Moats takes it at the 6, makes it only to the 15 or so. Penalty on the play.

Bring Mike McMahon in.
Detmer on the bench
McMahon in..first play a nice throw to Andy Thorn
2nd play...McMahon rolls out under pressure and throws it away.
Penalty on the play...illegal contact on Brandon Haw vs. McMullen

McMahon is eating up the TEs... like 4 completions to them...
Billy just dropped a pass. :(
Now Billy makes a beautiful catch along the R sideline...gets his feet down.

Meh......this game sucks....... :-o
Carlos Perez drops one now...right through his hands. Billy's was on a low throw.

The snap is snapped over McMahon's head in shotgun....
he picks it up and promptly throws an INT
Jets are at the Eagles 35 yard line and soon to be 23-0 or 27-0
Cut the farging lot of them....with exception of Brown and Moats......maybe McMahon. :yay

First play after the INT....

B. McMullen 1 4 0 4
Think Perry makes the team? He was pretty good tonight. He fumbled 3 times in 2 games though. That is not good. I would still prefer the Eagles to go out and get someone.
Perez cost himself a job tonight.
Cole won himself a job. He was the best guy on the field for the Eagles tonight.
Why the farg is the Jets preseason game always blacked out everywhere.
McMullen and Jamaal Green are probably outta here. Cole made the team, Thornburg has a shot at practice squad / long shot at special teams, Perry has a shot if they like him better than Mahe.....and Simoneau still sucks...
I remember when we drafted Green a ton of people said he was going to end up turning into a stud. Most of those people didn't see him play one down in college.

My heart wasn't into it. After watching so much I had to go vomit....sorry.
1. Perez did beat out McMullen tonight. He beat him out in dropped passes. McMullen dropped one that was behind him. Perez dropped two that were right in front of him.
2. I definitley think Jamaal Green is done. I was high on him when we drafted him, but Trent Cole had a great game and Juqua Thomas comtinued to play very well.
3. Any Hall fargin reeks.
4. Bruce Perry won a job tonight, IMO. The fumbling is a question mark, but I liked the way he ran. and he made a great catch on one of Hall's terrible passes.
5. Andy Thorn looked good, but it was too little too late. Spach has him beat. He also looked OK, did drop one though.
6. Matt Ware has indeed had a rough preseason. But I'm going to blame injuries. Why? Because he had offseason knee surgery and has had a toe injury. Plus he did not look that bad last year. He didn't forget how to play -- its the injuries. He got juked tonight a few times and his mobility is not there yet. I mentioned that when I saw him at Lehigh.
He looked like the old #21 out there trying to tackle tonight.
7. Koy looked zesty too.
8. McMahon was looking to run too much again, but to be fair he had the 2nd/3rd OL in front of him. His INTs were fargin dumbass mistakes. Nice 99 yard return on one though.
9. Robert Redd looked OK at CB, but I wouldn't want him at CB in regular season game. He looked good on PR's though.
10. Trent Cole was the best player on the Eagles defense tonight.
11. Hugh got pressure several times.
12. Labinjo had a bad game...let himself get swallowed up too much by blockers. The good thing for him though is Martin Patterson did not do enough to nudge him ahead of Labinjo though. So Martin will likely make the PS.
13. The entire defense's tackling was bad. Actually it was farging terrible.
14. Landeta looked good punting.
That's about it...overall pretty disgusting. But it was a meaningless PS game so who cares?
all i can say is i was very happy we decided to leave with 4 minutes left in the first half. i was at the stadium and could barely keep attention on the field. detmer stunk it up at qb, but at least we know his role, mcmahon still concerns me because if dmac did have to sit a game, he's be starting, i'd rather have blake back there.

Well, its not like Blake had many choices. He was too old to run. lol
good point
It'd would've been interesting to see McMahon play a few series with the first team in the preseason, but don't want to see it now. He's a bit of a spaz back there, looking look he drank five Red Bulls before kickoff. He's definitely got an arm and some athleticism, and can run. But, he can't be throwing back across his body into double coverage in the red zone...that was a horrible decision, and he made a few of them.
Then again, I'd feel better with him in there than Koy...I like Koy, seems like a great guy...but, he's most suckilicious as a QB. There's got to be a way to train someone else on the team to be Akers' holder who is also, you know, competent at another position.
Why do the Jets always beat us in this preseason game? Every year. How many is that now?

I have a hard time being bothered by the 2nd & 3rd string guys (mostly the 3rd and below actually) getting dismantled. It's like when some people freaked out during the St. Louis and Cincy games last year. In the end it means nothing because... and here's the important part, pay attention... the depth doesn't play together as a unit in the regular season.
Shocking I know! But you see... Andy Reid mixes the depth in with the starters when a starter is out for any stretch of time. That why they're
depth to begin with.

But the big thing is that the run defense was fine in the first 3 games when starters played with this group of DTs (without Rayburn too). But as soon as Simon is let go, the bitching starts. i wasn't "bitching" about anything...the run D did suck. i don't think anyone can dispute that...although some might try.
The problem is you're looking at it in a vaccum. You can't just say the "depth sucks" because the team got ran on in the 4th preseason game which is really all about the bubble players getting a chance to play for more than 5-10 minutes. The depth & roleplayers don't exist in the vaccum you're putting them in as when they'd get on the field in the regular season they'll have the rest of the starting
teams err... players, not teams... along side them.

I don't consider this move as them "dumping" him. He's had like 4 or 5 months to sign the one year deal. He didn't. He missed all of training camp and given the way he showed up last year (fat and out of shape) I think the Eagles decided that he wouldn't be worth the $5million he would get this year.
For that type of money, they need to know that he's going to be in shape and ready to contribute from the first snap of the season all the way to the last. Not take half the season to get in shape and then fall off again during the playoffs.

no matter what some think, dumping simon hurts the DT depth....that's my point. rayburn is not better than simon or he would have been starting the past couple years....same goes for hollis. now they and all the other DT's are bumped up 1 spot on the depth chart.
i didn't like the fact that they dumped simon who, whether people like it or not, was their best DT...and they got nothing in return. maybe they'll be "fine" with who they have but i'd rather not take the chance in a season where winning the super bowl is the only thing that matters. we already discussed this in the simon topic but i found it ironic that the DT's who make up this "depth" didn't look very good & the D got run all over.
I agree we're a better team with Simon, but the fatass wouldn't sign his tender. There were 'rumors' that he was going to show, but why pay him top DT money when he wouldn't be performing like one from day 1? I'm glad the Eagles don't let players walk over them and let them dictate the rules.

yeah, no shtein. anytime you lose a starter it affects the rest of the group. Making that simple point by attempting to lambast the #4 and #5 DT's in the final preseason game which had a vanilla scheme and no other starters on the D is weak sauce.

yeah, and I stated when they released him I didnt like that they didnt get any trade compensation for Simon. Even more so since no comp pick is involved. So stop acting like your the lone voice of dissent against the world.

Half the "depth" your whining about didnt even play in the game. See: Hollis and Mike Patterson.

yeah, i really whined & lambasted them by saying how they got ran all over (which they did). ::) cram it already. go back & read the posts....queenie is the one who overreacted (as usual). anything remotely negative about the team & half of you get your panties in a bunch and go into spaz mode.
I had to experience that first hand.... multiple times.
You guys need hugs. Big naked hugs.

I figured it would take you all night to to realize you had no credible comeback for the fact that Hollis and Mike Patterson were not even in the game. Go pick up your panties at the dry cleaner and dry up your fricken tears. You would think an Eagles fan would have thicker skin.
Hollis was depth, which is obviously part of what JJ and Andy Reid were referring to as DT depth when they let go of Simon. You cant be that stupid can you?

hollis is a starter now...still hasn't sunk in, huh? :-D
Well, that's solved. You are that stupid. Glad you cleared it up. :yay
I noticed Keyonta Marshall was cut today :P

mmmm'kay...that makes a lot of sense. :paranoid
anyway, if you're happy with how the backup DT's played against the jets, then there's not much anyone can say to change your mind. :-D
btw, those backups are the dt depth...some day you'll understand that part..............maybe. :paranoid
Rayburn wasnt there. And our "backup" DTs were also going against the Jets first line.
