QuoteCornerback Sheldon Brown believes that Philadelphia's Greg Lewis runs the best routes of any receiver in the league, which shouldn't be so surprising. Just last season, Eagles safety Brian Dawkins said when Lewis ran on the scout team, he provided the best looks of any receiver he faced in practice.

quite the compliment from Sheldon. :o
Nice compliment indeed. Just as long as Lewis doesn't have the best "practice hands".
i agree sarge, i love seeing this stuff, but it better translate to game-day hands, which i think it will.
wilbur mcmullen say catching ball>running route
His name is Wilbur.
Could it be safe to start buying up those #83 jerseys? ;D
dont let TO hear that.
Greg Lewis stock is rising...FredEx stock, sinking... :-D
The G Lew camp would like to thank everyone for their support and accolades. We are proud to represent this Eagles franchise and will do all we can to get this team back to the Super Bowl in 2006.
We is good!!
It's still a compliment, but in todays Brown's Blog, he said this:
QuoteThe media only have a short period of time in the locker room or around the team and then they go out and write about how things are going within the team. How can they make that assessment when they are in the locker room for only 45 minutes? A lot of times, what you read is not an accurate portrayal of what is happening inside here.
"Adam Schefter from The NFL Network said the other night on the air that 'Sheldon Brown said that Greg Lewis is one of the best route runners in the NFL.' Correction. I said, 'he may be' one of the best. He has the talent to be. He is improving every day. I have to go out and face every wide receiver in the NFL, so I know what each guy I'm facing is going to think about.
I can't wait to see Lewis and Brown in the regular season with 81 taking a lot of the attention.
All you read and hear about Lewis are good things. You could see it last year, his speed and ability to get open. This kids a diamond in the rough, ready to shine this year.
Hope so...but he strikes me as being average to marginally above average. I'll take that, though. I just don't hold delusions of grandeur for him.
Average is still 15 starting receivers better than Thrash and Pinkston.
You're such a pessimist. G. Lew is the 'glew' holding this team together. You'll see you doubting thomas.
More of a realist than a pessimist, I think.
I've like him ever since I first saw him play. After seeing the recievers we've had since Reid took over, I can't help but get excited over any reciever who has game. I can't help myself.
That's the pessimism talking...
Greg Lewis is so awesome at running routes that he even scored a TD for the Steelers right off the bat last Monday!!!!
He ran the wrong route, but he ran it very well.

Team G Lew would like to express their disappointment in your statement. We ran the right route...Donovan threw us a bad pass.
Riiiiiighht.
McNabb took the blame for that pass. Reid, in his post game press conference, also seemed to indicate it was a bad throw by McNabb.
In fact, I think that pass was supposed to be thrown to Westbrook. Many think it was Lewis's fault because Joe Thiesmann said so right after the play. Rule #1: never listen to Joe Theismann (didn't he throw a pass just like that in a Super Bowl?)
As for Lewis's route running, I'd think he'd be more effective in the slot. He could do more damage there going up against nickle corners.

he was in there on a few plays against the Steelers, so Reid must be thinking the same thing.
I think it was Lewis' fault, and thought so immediately when it happened. And, think about it, what possible good would come from McNabb and/or Reid blaming the promising, young receiver who needs confidence. You think you can take them at their word on that? Come on. That had blown route written all over it.
I still think it was a throw to Westbrook. In fact, a couple drives later, McNabb did the exact same thing: on a flat pass to the right, he floated a ball over Westbrook's head. Luckily, there was no CB near the play.
If Lewis is to be faulted for anything, he might have been responsible for blocking that corner, who was cheating, instead of running his clearout route.
It looked all along to me that it was a pass to Westbrook in the flat that sailed a bit, or Donovan just expected Westbrook to release more quickly off the line. Either way, I think it was not Greg's fault.
Greg WILL play in the slot on 3 WR sets most of the time, because that is his starting position. Reggie or Billy will play Pinkston's outside spot on the left side of the field in 3 WR sets.
Hey, that's why they make chocolate and vanilla.
...but you're still wrong. ;-)

Good for Greg. Now let's see how the other parts of his game stack up when the season starts.
He's keen. And he better be the next man.

Yeah, but that proves nothing. Everyone gets those kinds of PM's from hbionic.
I've been selling them to gay porn sites for a little extra money.
There's a market for small penis porn?
There's a market for everything.

Well, i mean in all honesty, it's TO's fault.

nah, nobody on earth blamed McNabb for the superbowl. That was clearly a Greg Lewis problem. Nobody ever chanted for AJ Feeley. Nobody ever booed McNabb.

Your bringing back baaaaaaaad memories. What a friggen' time two throw three int's in one game. Booo...
Acutally, I thought the Superbowl was Greg Lewis's coming out party of sorts. He had one of his best games in the biggest game of his career so far. That tells me something good about him right there.
I also agree he's dangerous as shtein in the slot, he can burn it upfield and get behind the D-backs reaaalllllly quick, knifeing up the middle. I love him in the slot.

One of those was a cough up by a reciever who I won't name, the last one was a desperation heave no real time left.

All too true, but three int's are three int's.
I still think McNabb played a brilliant game and made great decisions, considering the amount of pressure the Pats' D was consistently getting on him and the lack of help from the running game. My only issue with McNabb's play was the lack of urgency on that drive that resulted in the bomb TD to Greg Lewis. I don't care if he was tired or out of breath or what. It was the farking Super Bowl, and he blew it by not rallying the troops to the line and scoring that TD more quickly to get back in it.

You ain't kidding, I hope that is taken care of this year with last years no.1 pick. Can't see our o-line being anything but better this year, and we will need it.
