Title: USA Today: Chad Lewis Wants To Talk To Owens; Is Chad Coming Back?

QuoteLewis hopes to reach Terrell Owens before T.O. blows his last chance to rejoin Philadelphia's Super Bowl redemption quest — and maybe a last chance to salvage a career careening toward the brink.

Lewis would give anything to be in Owens' place. He targets opening day in his bid to return to the Eagles. In the meantime, he's attempting another clutch catch in his bid to save Owens from himself. Lewis believed a positive resolution was still possible, but acknowledged the rift between Owens and Donovan McNabb may be irreconcilable.

"It would be great for (coach) Andy (Reid), Donovan and T.O. to sit in a room to talk out their differences," Lewis says. "Every Eagles fan is hopeful that T.O. will come back and dominate. Whether that happens or not, that's still the hope. No one wants to see this circus going on.

"The more his situation is aired, the less likely it will be resolved in great terms. That's why I'm hoping T.O. can sit down with Andy and Donovan. There's definitely still a strong chance things can get resolved."

Quote"I tried to call T.O. the other day, but he has a new number," Lewis says. "I talked to him a few weeks ago. If I had a chance to talk to him again, I'd say, 'I care about (you) as a person and a friend a lot more than as a football player.'

"Then, I would tell him I hope to see him be his greatest with a huge, million-dollar smile on his face; scoring touchdowns; working hard and knowing people really care about him. As teammates, we really cared about him.

"I know he's had an extremely difficult upbringing. So it's hard for him to understand that people care. Maybe that chip is what drives him so much.

"But Andy always says two things: 'You have to be humble, and you have to be hungry.' That's how he wants the Eagles to be.

"Part of greatness is humility. Everything is aligned for them to go back to the Super Bowl. Everyone is hopeful things can still work out great."

A pretty good read. I really hope that they bring #89 back here for one more season. I like what I saw from Steven Spach, but I think he is best served on the PS for a year.

Reid runs double-tights a lot. L.J Smith is more or less a receiving TE whose in-line blocking needs to get better. They need a #2 TE who can block and haul in a clutch catch when needed.

I want Lewis back. I hope his foot recovers well and I hope they waste no time in re-signing him.

A season without the old catch & roll just wouldn't be the same.

He targets opening day for his comeback?  Guess one of the TE's is gonna be put on the practice squad right before the first game.  sucks for them.

I am wondering how accurate that is, though. Wouldn't we have read SOMETHING about that locally?

To be honest, the local guys are too preoccupied with TO right now. If TO wasn't the main topic we'd have heard more about Reggie Brown, Ryan Moats and of course someone would be ripping the STs.

Spads wrote a story on Chad awhile back and said he'd be ready around the 4th preseason game/week 1.

And before Spads I read that Chad was told by Lurie that he's welcome back and Lurie wants the Birds to be able to have the first shot at re-signing him.

We won't hear anything from the locals until one of the young TEs screws up.

If Lewis really wants to get to TO, he should ride his bicycle to TO's house wearing a white shirt and black tie and offer to cut his lawn or trim his hedges.

They probably have the same arrangement with Chad as they do with Levens...they'll bring him back for a physical the week before the season starts, have him attend a few practices, cut him, and then re-sign him after the regular season starts.

Mormons(Reid) tend help other Mormons get jobs.... :-D Seriously if he's healthy we gotta get him for reliable depth and experience. He's a great dude. His salary is not gonna break the bank and he's great for the locker room. Not to mention a clutch receiver also.

Good point, Larry. I see that you've taken a break from the crack-cocaine, no? :D

If they do it like that, then the salary is not guaranteed.
