Title: Night Stalker
Post by: shorebird on August 17, 2005, 04:56:56 PM
Just saw a commercial about the new series. Anyone here old enough to remember the old one? That show scared the crap outta me when I was a kid. I still remember the sloppy Karl Kolchak. (sp.?) I liked the one about the Zombie, when the old vodoo woman summonded the Zombie to kill Karl with that chant, Kolllchak, Kolllchak! Me and the neighborhood kids ran around saying that for weeks.

I don't remember it.  Probably because you're really old and I wasn't born yet.  :P

I used to love Darren McGavin in that show. Turns out he absolutely hated doing it...but he didn't get upset because it was a steady job.

I remember that night stalker, richard ramirez had everyones panties in a twist. We even had a crank call to our house saying it was the night stalker one night.....scary at the time....but funny as hell now that I think of it looking at it from a prankster's point of view.

Your not the only one. That was one of my favorite shows as a kid.

My favorite was the "Rakshasa" episode where the demon made itself look like Ms. Emily & he had to shoot her with a crossbow.

Does anyone else remember the episode where Kolchak was hiding inside a church with Satan unable to enter but still sitting on the window sill taunting him?

OMG... still scares the shtein out of me thinking about that one.

I don't remember that one, must have been one I missed. I liked the Zombie one, but the one that scared me the most was the premire episode with the vampire. I had nightmares of him breaking in our house and looking in the fridge for blood, like he was doing on the show breaking into the hospital blood bank.

Another one that scared the crap outta' me was the one with the robot, who killed his creator and Karl was alone in that house with. He made him fry his brain when he asked him what the square root of pie was. Ha! Seems funny now.

Whoo, sends chills down my spine thinking of that show.

In the last year, they've been running all day Night Stalker marathons on the SciFi Channel.  I watched them as a kid, and still got a kick out of them now.  Too bad it only lasted one season.  We'll see if the new show can hold a candle to the original.

I really liked that series, too! Very nicely done - and an inspiration for "The X-Files".  ;)
And I agree with you, shorebird, the one with the vampire was the scariest! When the vampire was coming after him at the end, I was totally freaked out! I'm getting chills sitting here remembering the hissing sound the vampire made! Yikes!  :o

Oh yes, when he dropped the cross!! I think that scene alone gave me nightmares for a week!
