Philadelphia City Councilman Frank DiCicco sent a letter to the City's Department of Licensing and Inspections requesting an investigation into sports agent Drew Rosenhaus's business license and tax status.
Rosenhaus is the agent of Terrell Owens, the Eagles wide receiver who was dismissed from the team until Wednesday after disagreements with his coaches.
"Drew Rosenhaus has earned thousands of dollars on the backs of our beloved Eagles," the letter states, "However, to my knowledge, the City has not earned a penny on the back of Mr. Rosenhaus."
According to Philadelphia's City Code, any individual doing business within the City must obtain a business privilege license and pay business privilege taxes. In a news release, DiCicco said it was unclear whether Rosenhaus has complied with these provisions.
Any individual found to have not obtained a license is subject to fines and up to 90 days imprisonment, as well as the payment of all taxes and penalties.
Because of the late hour of DiCicco's inquiry, the Inquirer could not review the status of Rosenhaus' filings with the city.
In recent weeks, Terrell Owens, often accompanied by Rosenhaus, has publicly complained about his contract, Eagles' players and his coaches, DiCicco said.
In his letter, DiCicco said that while does not follow football, closely, "In a working class city, where the median salary is less than $30,000 per year, where we're happy to find a parking space and have our trash picked-up, where we fight to keep our fire companies open and our recreation centers staffed, and where we love the Eagles more than we love our dogs, it's insulting to watch a man do sit-ups in the driveway of his multi-million dollar house and complain about making $49 million over seven years."
