QuoteWesley and Siavii arrested at hotel

By ADAM TEICHER

The Kansas City Star

RIVER FALLS, Wis. — Chiefs safety Greg Wesley and defensive lineman Junior Siavii were arrested early Sunday morning after a disturbance at a Minneapolis hotel.

Both players were taken to Hennepin County Jail in Minneapolis, where they posted $50 bail and were released later Sunday morning, according to jail records.

Siavii was charged with one count of disorderly conduct and one count of fifth-degree assault. Both charges are misdemeanors. Wesley was charged with one count of misdemeanor disorderly conduct.

Wesley practiced with the Chiefs when they resumed training camp Sunday afternoon. Siavii was missing. Coach Dick Vermeil said Siavii was excused from practice to receive treatment for a sore knee.

Vermeil said he was aware of the arrests but had few details.

"I'm going to find out more," he said.

Wesley declined comment, and Siavii couldn't be reached.

Police were summoned to the Graves 601 Hotel at 1:20 a.m. Sunday because of a disturbance, Minneapolis police Lt. Brad Sporny said. Siavii allegedly threw objects and yelled obscenities at a hotel security guard.

Sporny said police officers observed Siavii as being intoxicated.

He said that as Siavii was being handcuffed, Wesley interfered by blocking the exit and charging the officers. Wesley was sprayed with mace and placed under arrest.

Siavii allegedly refused to get in the squad car and spit toward police officers. A spit hood was then placed over his head.

Siavii was given a court date for Wednesday, Wesley for Friday.

The maximum penalty for disorderly conduct is a year in jail and a $3,000 fine, according to Minnesota statutes. The maximum penalty for fifth-degree assault is 90 days in jail and a $1,000 fine.

Chiefs players were given Saturday night off after playing the Vikings in Minneapolis on Friday night. They were required to return to training camp by lunch on Sunday.

even the coaches are out of control.

QuoteThe Associated Press reports Kansas City Chiefs tight ends coach Jason Verduzco was sprayed by police with mace prior to the Week 4 game against the Philadelphia Eagles. Verduzco became combative with police officers when they wouldn't let him turn into a stadium entrance he normally uses. Police attempted to prevent Verduzco from turning into one of the gates, but he did anyway. Police say he got so close to an officer that the bumper to his SUV was touching the officer's leg. Verduzco refused to backup his vehicle and started cursing at officers. Police tried removing Verduzco from the vehicle, but police was forced to spray him with mace when he started slapping officers and tried pulling away. Police issued a general summons for the coach that alleges he "did intentionally attempt to inflict bodily injury" upon the officer and refused to stop his vehicle. Verduzco was released on a signature bond.
