Title: Reid gets dumped...lol (and other camp notes)

QuoteA COOL WAY TO END CAMP

August 13, 2005

BETHLEHEM, Pa. -- With the temperatures in the high 90s on Saturday, the players took it upon themselves to cool off head coach Andy Reid. We wish we had pictures of the event, but let your imagination work for you.

After Saturday morning's practice, the players lured Reid into the locker room, bolted shut the door and then lifted the head coach into the air and dumped him into the cold tub
.

Talk about instant relief...

"They got me," Reid admitted. "I thought I was going to have a meeting with a couple of guys and go over some things, and the team met me in there."

As training camp broke down starting on Saturday, the players looked for some levity after three weeks of intense heat and very physical practices.

And moving Reid provided quite the workout.

"I just want to let you know, it took the whole team to get me in there," Reid said.

It's a tradition to throw trainers and other members of the Eagles in the cold tub every season, but they never soaked Reid. Rookie Isaac West said the veterans anticipated the prank.

"I know some of the guys were real pumped about it," West said. "They had themselves a good, little time."

Pictures? Next year. We want to broadcast the Reid dunking live in 2006.

Injury Report

Running back Brian Westbrook missed Saturday's practices due to illness.

Also on the injury list were: DT Sam Rayburn (hyperextended elbow), RB Correll Buckhalter (knee), DE Jamaal Green (foot strain), C Jamaal Jackson (tricep tear), CB Matt Ware (knee soreness, toe infection) and LB Greg Richmond (back).

DT Darwin Walker returned to practice (illness) as did WR Reggie Brown (groin).

Head coach Andy Reid will update the injury situation Sunday and discuss which of the injured players will sit out Monday night's preseason opener at Pittsburgh.

The Riptide

Offensive tackle Jon Runyan got to see the fruits of his labor Saturday. And it had nothing to do with the offensive line.

Runyan saw the custom-built, pro-street style motorcycle that features the logos of the two professional football teams that he is involved with - the Philadelphia Eagles and the San Diego Riptide, an AFL2 team, which he owns.

The most unique aspect of this unveiling is the fact that Runyan designed and fabricated the bike himself. With help from the crew of "Celebrity Build," a soon-to-air television series, Runyan was involved in every phase of the build.

Even though he was involved, he had not seen the final product until Saturday. He was quite pleased with the results.

"It's awesome to see something you put your hands and time into come together like that," Runyan said. "Through the design process, I was in on all of this so I knew what was happening. I just didn't see the final product.

The new series, expected to air in September, follows famous personalities through the conception, design and fabrication of their dream cycles.

The whole process for Runyan's bike took about two months.

"The problem was going to Connecticut and doing it," Runyan said. "You have to find a couple of days where you can go up and do it. Trying to do some production on it, too, is another time constraint. It's not just you slap it together and see what you have to do."

Now that it's all together, Runyan wants to use the bike for more than just show.

"Right now it's a show bike, but I will ride it. It's built strong enough to hold a man like me on it," Runyan, who is 6-7 and 330 pounds, said. "I don't know if I'll ever find (the top speed), but it's got enough to do pretty much anything you want."

Although still in its "pilot" stage, "Celebrity Build" will be working with personalities from throughout the sports and entertainment worlds to design and build their dream cycles and hotrods.

Why do I get the feeling Hugh was involved in that prank?

That's great, what a way to lighten up this whole saga.  :yay

I hope Reggie is going to play on Monday, but considering he hasn't practiced until today (I may be wrong on that) I don't know.

Don't play a single WR except Wilbur. We can't afford to lose the rest and that farger needs the gametime.

If they do that we'll never see a completed pass outside of practices until the season starts. :P
