I think its more Rosenhaus with the bruised ego. Going home with his tail between his legs as yet another client tells him that he's going to report to camp DESPITE what he advises. ANother hit to the "Rosenhaus vs the NFL" saga.  :-D

He's apparently had no issues whatsoever on his knee, according to CSN yesterday. He's been up there since rookies reported and has looked good (again, according to those who have watched him).

Title: Re: Injury notes
Post by: PhillyGirl on August 03, 2005, 01:57:09 PM
Depends if he was put on the active PUP list or the reserve PUP list. If he was placed on the reserve list, he's ineligible to practice or play for the first six games of the regular season.

Here is a good explanation of the PUP list:

QuoteNFL rules allow teams to designate players as "Physically Unable to Perform." Once they are designated as such, they are prohibited from practicing with the team. They can, however, rehabilitate and participate in team meetings. If a player begins training camp on the PUP list, they can be moved to the active roster at any time, even after one practice. A player is not allowed to be placed on the PUP list if they start training camp on the active roster.

And another example using a specific player:

QuoteAccording to NFL rules there are two physically unable to perform designations, active and reserve. If Miller is unable to practice Saturday the Bucs likely will place him on the active list, enabling the team to evaluate his progress in camp and activate him any time before the final cutdown date.

After the final cuts on Aug. 31 the Bucs must place Miller either on the reserve physically unable list, on injured reserve or release him.

If on the reserve physically unable list, Miller must sit out six weeks of the season. The Bucs then would have a three-week period to evaluate him or activate him. Before the start of the 10th week the team must place Miller on injured reserve the rest of the season, release him or activate him to the 53-man roster.

"When you're on (physically unable to perform), you can't (practice)," Gruden said. "You can be in attendance, you can go to the meetings. There's still value there, not that our system is that hard, but he could sit in the meeting rooms and make the mental corrections. And with a veteran player, an experienced guy, sometimes that's invaluable."

shorties are cool in my book!

there was a huge difference between the new guys and the vets which is to be expected, all i'm saying is he looked pretty sharp.

on the other hand there were several times where both moats and brown were not sure of where to line up and the qb's and coaches looked frustrated.

also, it was AWESOME to see the d-backs talking to reggie after plays giving him some tips and what-not, at least that's what it looked like from my vantage point.

Post by: PhillyGirl on August 03, 2005, 03:18:36 PM
QuoteThe high temperatures had an impact on the players. Running back Correll Buckhalter, wide receiver Greg Lewis and cornerback Lito Sheppard all had to come out due to problems from the heat.

Linebacker Matt McCoy suffered a slight MCL sprain and did not practice. He is day-to-day. Defensive tackle Sam Rayburn hyper extended his elbow and is day-to-day. Offensive lineman Jamaal Jackson slightly tore his triceps. Reid was not sure if it was the same triceps muscle he tore last year, he said the trainers were looking at it and would provide an update as soon as possible.

QuoteOnly a few minor injuries. Artis Hicks did not practice due to knee tendonitis. FS Sean Considine has a shoulder sublex. RB Correll Buckhalter has a knee contusion, pretty good bruise on surgically repaired knee, and will need a few more days.

Backup center Jamaal Jackson has a tricep tear. He will rest the next couple of weeks before making a decision on his status. Defensive tackle Sam Rayburn is making big strides with his hyper-extended elbow.

Linebacker Greg Richmond's back is calming down and wide receiver Todd Pinkston will have surgery on his ruptured Achilles tendon but a date has not been set. Pinkston declined to speak to reporters as he walked with the assistance of crutches to Buckhalter's car.

Cornerback Rod Hood suffered a shin contusion during Saturday morning's practice.

QuoteNOTES: REDD AT RB ON TUESDAY
August 9, 2005
By ZACH BERMAN

BETHELEHEM, Pa.-- With the majority of the Eagles' running backs benched on the trainer's table, receiver Robert Redd shifted over to running back for Tuesday's practices.  :-D

The shift highlighted a routine practice heavy on game-situations as the Eagles prepare for their preseason opener on Monday against the Steelers.

Offensive coordinator Brad Childress said Redd had some experience at running back while playing in the NFL Europe, and he's eager to find a way on the field however he can. He's excelled at receiver throughout training camp, displaying quickness and a sure-handedness.

But with the injury bug bumming the running backs, the temporary move was a way to prove to the coaches that he was willing to help. Childress joked that Redd even offered to play cornerback if it would secure a spot on the roster.

"He wants to make this team so bad," Childress said. "The more you can do, the better off you are. He has some ability (back there)."

Injuries

The only new injury to report is DT Darwin Walker, who was sidelined with illness.

Otherwise, the absentees on Tuesday were sidelined with previously reported injuries. Terrell Owens sat out for his second consecutive day after practicing on Sunday. Correll Buckhalter is still trying to improve from a knee contusion.

Starting left tackle Tra Thomas still hasn't practiced because of a blood clot. Running backs Bruce Perry and Ryan Moats are both suffering from concussions.

Roderick Hood and Sean Considine are still missing from the secondary. DE Jamaal Green continues to nurse a left foot strain. Jamaal Jackson is still recovering from a torn tricep and Greg Richmond is rehabbing a herniated disc.

Despite the injuries, Childress doesn't feel the offense is behind schedule. While the Eagles are lining up with two new starting receivers and only half of their running backs are healthy, the goal remains sound execution.

"We're going to gameplan and take advantage of what we see defenses doing regardless of personnel groups whether it's receivers, tight ends or halfbacks out of the backfield," Childress said

QuoteNOTES: 'BUCK' UPDATE, DE ADDED

August 10, 2005
By ZACH BERMAN

BETHLEHEM, Pa.-- Running back Correll Buckhalter's knee contusion, suffered during Friday's practice, may warrant a closer look.

RB Correll Buckhalter is nursing an injury
Buckhalter has missed practice since sustaining the injury, and head coach Andy Reid said Wednesday that the medical staff is going to recheck the injury to "see if there is not something else in there."

Reid said there is some concern about the injury because of the lack of progression in the recovery.

"It's not coming around as fast as it should have," Reid said. "We are going to check all of those things out and see what the deal is."

Eagles ADD DE

The Eagles signed veteran defensive end Juqua Thomas on Wednesday. Thomas spent four seasons with the Titans, backing up Jevon Kearse for three seasons. In 2003, Thomas recorded four sacks, 17 tackles and a forced fumble.

To make room on the roster for Thomas, the team released receiver Chris Samp. Thomas, wearing jersey number 75, practiced on Wednesday morning.

"He's a good pass rusher and he is stout enough up front to where he can hold his own," Reid said. "We have played against him so we know what he can do."

Perry's Back

Running back Bruce Perry returned to the practice field Wednesday after suffering a concussion on Sunday. He saw extensive action, displaying his toughness by taking a pounding during contact drills.

Injuries

Tackle Jon Runyan suffered a concussion on Tuesday that held him out of practice.

Defensive tackle Darwin Walker is out with the flu.

Safety Sean Considine is still out with the slight separation of the shoulder.

Cornerback Rod Hood was gone with some personal reasons and he comes back today and we will see how he is here.

Guard/center Jamaal Jacksoncontinues to nurse a tricep tear.

Running back Ryan Moats is day-to-day with a concussion.

Defensive tackle Sam Rayburn is getting better from a hyperextended elbow. but still needs a few days before returning.

Wonder what's going on with Buck's knee? :-\
Title: Re: Injury notes
Post by: Eaglez on August 10, 2005, 05:22:26 PM
Buck's knee is fine. It is actually mutating into a super strong ligament which can sustain impact from nuclear warheads and Corey Simon's fat.

It just needs time to morph. I all due time he will be better than ever.

By the way, since this is an injury thread someone should add TO on it with a bruised ego.

It's "go find another team after the cut down to 65 players" worthy. I had high hopes for him. But he's fragile.

Trey Darilek & Dominic Furio will fight for the b/u spot.

how does one have high hopes for someone who wasnt even drafted? ;)

why dont we just whack all the WR's and go with 2 TE T-bone sets.

Apparently Buckhalter was sent to Alabama to visit Dr. Andrews.  Visits to him usually = season is over  :P

you know.... if TO decides to kill himself and Westy gets hurt our Superbowl winning offense will star Ryan Moats at RB, Greg Lewis and Reggie Brown at WR.

Reid has outdone himself with the depth this year.

this is a dynasty.

Either that, or we're just farged.

Good to see Buck's going to Birmingham to see Dr. Andrews...that's always good news. :-X

Getting some better WRs during the Pinkston and Thrash years might have been a good idea.

Just saying...

That is hindsight, nobody could have predicted this debacle.  Outside of breaking the bank to bring someone else in there was really nothing else to do other than draft for depth.
