QuoteWide receiver Terrell Owens showed up for Eagles training camp on time, actually almost an hour early. Running back Brian Westbrook never showed up at all.
Now, the question becomes what's more important to the Eagles.
"I don't think I want to answer that," an Eagles source said
QuoteAccording to team sources, they did not have an inkling of Westbrook's plans until late Sunday night and weren't sure of them completely until 3 p.m. yesterday.
The Eagles are believed to have offered Westbrook a five-year deal worth between $18 and $19 million with a $5 million signing bonus and another $1.5 million in guaranteed money next season. That deal would be very similar to one Green Bay gave running back Ahman Green in 2001.
Westbrook, according to those close to him, is more intrigued by the deal New Orleans just gave running back Deuce McAlister this weekend, which averaged $6 million per year and included a $10 million signing bonus
Quote"You know what the problem this team has," a veteran player said. "They makes you promises and don't keep them. They did it to two, or three guys this year alone. That's the worst thing you can do to a player, promise him something and then not come through."
Hmmm....wonder if Hollis was Eck's source on that one? And if that feeling is starting to make its way across the locker room, they better put a stop to it real damn quick and do the appropriate deals.
Going back on your word is never a good thing if this is the case.It seems unlikely with the Eagle brass however. ???
wait, did Westbrook say they told him one thing and did another? I must have missed that part....

Spuds:
QuoteYou know what I think? In the end, the talks will get back on track and Westbrook will get a deal. The Eagles have invested too much time into this for it not to work. Be patient.
This was in response to someone asking him about that "little known rule".
and spads is very objective and tells it how it is :yay
spadaro is almost enough to make me not be an eagle fan...jesus he makes me sick...and if he tells everyone to 'be patient' just one more time ill castrate him

I am the last person to say anything positive about Spadaro (as most people on here know), but your posts are just as bad....on the other end of the spectrum...so you really have no room to talk here.

Thats alright, bro. Your doom and gloom and conspiracy theories sometimes make me feel like I want to stab myslf in the eyeballs repeatedly. :P
i keep it real....realer than an innocent child turn killer
the difference btwn me and spadaro is with me the truth hurts and thats where the hate comes from
where as spads is a corporate phony
The difference between you and Spadaro is he works for the Eagles in a public relations capacity, has inside information about what's going on, but is precluded from revealing anything of substance to the public.
Meanwhile, you're a retarded jackass who has no idea what the farg you're talking about.

That is Dave's job. He works for the team. You don't rip your bosses. I wish people would realize that about Spads - he is paid to be pro-Eagle!

Can anyone really disagree with that statement?
I wonder which offer is more accurate? The one similar to the Rudi Johnson's deal or Eckle's claim that is was closer to Ahman Green's antiquated 2001 deal, which I'd consider a lowball offer (in fact, I believe Green threatened to holdout last year).
eh, it's his job to be positive about the organization and to put a good spin on bad situations.
it's kind of like saying howard is an idiot with his opinions, but people listen and call in, it's his job to be controversial.
Can you remember the last time Eckel was accurate?
Just sayin'.

Since this thread is nothing but bullshtein anyway, I thought I'd throw a photo of Sheldon Brown & Rod Hood in as a consolation for the poor souls who foolishly opened it expecting something of substance.
:yay
PS: I'm not going to argue the merits or lack thereof of Spadaro. Any of you would trade your right nut (apologies to PG) to have his job. He's a professional fan who's paid to be the organization's mouthpiece. It's basically the best job I've ever heard of short of being a lesbian porn fluffer.
Happy Scrappy sighting! :crazy
Werd. He looks like he hit the weight room with a vengence in the offseason.
And look at the pipes on Rod!
Damn! :poison
For some reason I remember Spadaro saying he wasnt an eagles fan his entire life.....

i dont believe for a second that spads gets inside info...and if he does it is for the sole purpose of releasing it to the public...which by definition is not inside info...i mean if reid holds a press conference is what he says inside info...inside info is stuff that gets put out there that wasnt meant for the public...this is info that spadaro would never have and even if he did hed never put it out there

Spadaro doesn't get his info from Press conferences. He works down the hall from AR, he sits down and talks to him all of the time.

That is exactly what makes me hate him. I know that I (or anyone with half a brain and a sense of humor) could write something far more entertaining than Spads has ever produced. And I wouldn't have to use the Captain Kirk school of halting, abrupt sentences to do it. But no, instead that jerkoff gets paid to be the team mouthpiece and is in essence a professional football fan. Makes me sick.

Again, I agree with this. He's not funny, when he tries to be, he's not interesting, when he tries to be. But I WILL believe something he says on his MB over IGY any day of the week.

You can't argue with "logic" like that.
But I WILL believe something he says on his MB over IGY any day of the week
what?
im giving opinions...they are not be be believed...they are to be agreed with or not agreed with
spads is doing the same thing...except he gives opinions on his employer...if spads would report factual news like signings...statictics...press releases ect...that would be fine...but when he writes op ed pieces or analytical columns on the franchise its a joke
and i dont even want to get into his talking down to people or his over the top narcissism
im sure hes a great guy off the board and he is in a difficult position on there (tho its one he puts himself in)...but online he is just an atrocity
I don't get what everyone's deal with IGY is. He's more negative than everyone, and he usually to sides with players rather than the FO and he is intentionally abrasive, but he's just stating opinion. Yeesh, you freaks need to lighten up. I don't agree with most of his nonsense either but you guys get your panties in a wad over the things he says all the time.
Speaking of panties in a wad...

I agree about Jessica.
He's more negative than everyone
im really not...the thing is i really only post when i have a minority view...whether it be positive or negative...but on this board 99% of the posts are homerish...thus it looks like im being negative
i just dont see a reason to blast rosenhaus or TO or suck off reggie brown in a thread after 50 people have already done so...it adds nothing to the discussion

etc etc
I meant more negative than everyone
here, which clearly isn't difficult to do.
How many times must I mention my hatred of Pinkston and Trotter to get us down to 75% homerish?
99% of the posts on this board are homerish? :-D
Read the Phillies threads and then say that with a straight face.
Also - it seems to me that the only reason you post here is to be deliberately contrariant.
Offering up minority opinions is fine and dandy, but to do so repeatedly without the use of facts or logic to back up your assertions is the very definition of trollish behavior.
Anyway, to get back on topic, I saw this "elsewhere" and thought I'd share...

Next time be more courteous and let us know you plan to take over this thread.
So, uhh, after reading that nonsense does anyone have any pertinent information regarding Westbrook's situation?
Of course not. Jesus.
Just making sure.
By the way I can't believe that Westbrook is looking more towards Deuce McCallister money. I love what he brings to the offense but be realistic. I think a very good and reasonable offer to Westbrook would be money somewhere inbetween Ahman Green and Rudi Johnson, but nothing more than that.
How do class act players let agents fill their heads with fantasies about their actual market value?

Not sure its the agent on this one. His agent expected him in camp. Westbrook is holding out against his agent's advice.

dont believe everything people say
How about we tell westbrook we'll sign him to Deuce McCalister money only if we can trade him to the Aints for Deuce himself. Westy is good but he's not a true running back but a hybrid who is injury prone
I like Jessica Alba. I wouldn't kick her out of bed for... pretty much anything.
I'd pay him McAllister money, or at least pay him the same rate: I'd draw up the contract so it'd be a shorter deal and more front-loaded so as to protect against injury.

is he padding himself with money? thats pretty cool.
Unless he's holding out for guarenteed money in the form of a front-loaded signing bonus then I don't know why he wants a "long-term deal". Long term deals are pointless. Did anyone even remotely think that Trotter was going to spend all seven years in Washington? What Westbrook wants is money up front, not a long term deal.
Long term deals = cap casualities. That why I don't get Simon holding out and refusing to sign a one year deal that pays him a boatload upfront and makes him one of the highest paid DT's in the league (especially since the NFL rules are setup that way for Franchise tags). Long term deals do nothing for your earning power. I wonder if they realize this.
