Palmeiro suspended for drug policy violation (http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al/orioles/2005-08-01-palmeiro-suspension_x.htm)
Quote"Good morning, Mr. Chairman and members of the committee. My name is Rafael Palmeiro and I am a professional baseball player. I'll be brief in my remarks today. Let me start by telling you this: I have never used steroids. Period. I don't know how to say it any more clearly than that. Never. The reference to me in Mr. Canseco's book is absolutely false. I am against the use of steroids. I don't think athletes should use steroids and I don't think our kids should use them. That point of view is one, unfortunately, that is not shared by our former colleague, Jose Canseco. Mr. Canseco is an unashamed advocate for increased steroid use by all athletes."

Big Mac was a moron.
However, by keeping his mouth shut, he avoids anything like this. Who looks like the bigger icehole, the guy who plead the 5th or the guy who outright lied?
http://www.usatoday.com/sports/baseball/al/orioles/2005-08-01-palmeiro-suspension_x.htm
Big Mac looked like a bumbling idiot and lost the respect of everyone, even the fans of St Louis, which is almost impossible to do. He had nothing to lose since he was retired already.
Telling the truth would have made them both look better in the end. ::)
maybe he changed his mind after the hearings?
something like "hey, ya know...maybe i'll try it this season..."
maguire looks like a bafoon all along.
i personally think they should let these dumbshteins do whatever they want to themselves. maybe people will stop idolizing them once they see how they die at 42 years old because they destroyed their insides using drugs and one day their heart explodes and break both legs because they sneezed. hitting 70 home runs a year wont seem to matter much when they die.
You know I kind of like Raffy, but this is fargin hysterical.

There are no health risks related to steroid use in adult males.
I guess they can't nail him for perjury. It's shame I always thought he was a decent player.

Did you know that physiologically, pure opiates (heroine, etc) do absolutely nothing negative to the human body? You can overdose on it because it is such a sedative that it can shut down your system, but there are zero side effects to the body.
Steroids and heroine are harmless! Totally harmless!

He's still going to the HoF. No doubt about that. He just won't be a first ballot guy now. Maybe 2nd, 3rd or 4th time around. 3,000 hits is 3,000 hits. Steroids don't make you place the ball in the right spot 3,000+ times.
A lot of those dingers become fly balls to the warning track though...
Yeah and I never intentionally, :paranoid , uh never mind.
Well, he was only caught now...so you can't prove that he ever took it before now. So they shouldn't be able to discount what he's done before now. He's in. He just casts a little doubt now, plus the fact that he lied under oath.

Wow. I'm shocked that Raffy could be so ignorant...
How do you go on national TV in front of motherfargin CONGRESS and lie knowing damn well you are on juice?
1. If he was using while telling Congress he wasn't, he should've known to stop taking them because of the stricter policies.
2. He's even dumber if he started taking them after telling the nation and Congress that he wasn't.

Not excusing Palmeiro, or even really arguing the validity of the "report," but for an MLB official to anonymously leak the test that is explicitly NOT allowed according to the agreement is to me as bad as the original offense.
From the article:
QuoteThe New York Times, citing a person in baseball with direct knowledge of the sport's drug-testing program, reported on its Web site Tuesday that Palmeiro tested positive for the drug known by the brand name Winstrol, most notably linked to the Olympic sprinter Ben Johnson of Canada.
... The person who said that Palmeiro tested positive for stanozolol did not want to be identified because the testing policy prohibits anyone in baseball from disclosing information about test results without authorization, the Times said.
If this person wants to blow the lid off of Palmeiro, why doesn't he have the balls to give his name? If the situation is so important as to disregard the agreement that MLB made with the players, to disregard Palmeiro's rights, then man it up and say so. Don't hide under "anonymous source."

0-4 and had a chance to get the game winning hit in the bottom of the 9th with 2 on and down by a run. Palmeiro - juice = lazy fly ball to right field.

Classy reaction from Baltimore fans.
I especially like the shot of the bulbous retard in the wife-beater undershirt. Lookin' realllll good there, Guido.

Now, unlike TO, here is a player from a team I've supported since childhood that I can honestly say should be thrown off the team. He has kicked Baltimore baseball square in the gut, and spit on the legacy of guys like Ripken, Brooks Robinson, Frank Robinson, Jim Palmer, and on and on. What a schmuck.
