i dont disagree with that but i have a hard time thinking that a dh psoition for one game could cost the phillies the entire world series...

to me they either are going to get three win from their starters or they are not winning

it might, it might not. but its an advantage for the phils and disadvantage for the sox. its really the biggest thing they can do the give them an edge.

also just dont slobber over the sox yet. first off randy wolf shut them down tonight. second off outside of lester and beckett their rotation is suspect. buchholz's back is fried, wakefield is 800, lackey blows. the middle games those guys cant pitch where the phils are firing lee and oswalt could be the difference. aint no reason to think oh they wont score bla bla bla. just enjoy this right now son.
Zero hour, Michael. It's the end of the line. I'm the firstborn. I'm sick of playing second fiddle. I'm always third in line for everything. I'm tired of finishing fourth. Being the fifth wheel. There are six things I'm mad about, and I'm taking over.

Every farging Yankee fan that brings up 2009 to me, I immediately throw that in their face.  The bums carted out Pedro Martinez in game 6.  End of subject.

you dont really wanna go down the line of pitchers over the last three years that have shut the phillies offense down

lol outside of lester and beckett...lester and beckett both win and then the sox offense takes the series over...seems possible to me?

theres no slowing my roll...the red sox are the best team in the majors and have been since spring camp opened....doesnt mean they will win the ws but they are the favorites

Crawford was put on the 15 day DL meaning he'll miss the Phillies series. I'll be at Thursdays game on the 30th (1:05 start)

Yeah, well... Uh... Who's in for the Padres series? HIGH FIVE!

IGY, your logic makes ZERO sense. I am pretty sure I'm older than you. I'm also pretty sure I have been watching/following Phils baseball since I was 2-3 years old with my dad when he started taking me to games. I started understanding it around 5-6 when my godfather (who was my dad's biz partner and an ex-college player) started teaching me baseball.

I've lived through the shtein too yet I don't even come close to being where you are (or Jay for that matter) where every small slump, every mistake, every bad game = end of the season and no chance to win a WS. I'm not a homer in the least, but I know what we have here and appreciate it because it is rare and amazing and if you can't stop and enjoy it, you're an idiot. Or you're just an attention whore who wants to whine and bitch like a PMSed out chick because the team lost a game or 2 in a row.

It's BECAUSE of the terrible seasons we've had to watch in the past that puts me in this mindset.

"Oh, yeah. They'll still boo. They have to. They're born to boo. Just now, they'll only boo with two Os instead of like four." - Larry Andersen

Once you realize that igy is the way he is because negativity is his defense mechanism you'll begin to understand that no amount of rational will get through to him. I was the same way in my early teens, so I understand where he's coming from. I don't even bother sifting through posts where him and mds go back and forth, it's consistently the same argument and Todd will never be able to comprehend the way he thinks because he's never thought that way. igy was conditioned to be the way he is through years of heartache. People our age understand it because we had shtein for teams growing up sprinkled with some greatness in between. Now that we have a good team to watch on a consistent basis it's enjoyable but we've had so few championships that the only thing that will quench our thirst is another championship. Stretches like these have been far and few for Phillies fans. I find myself worrying about the future of the team but always try to appreciate the present. As long as fan support remain high they should be able to field a consistent winner.

Its why the Reid era Eagles are such a tragic tale. All that winning and talent and they couldn't win it all even once. I enjoyed the run but now that I look back at it I shake my head in disbelief that they came so close but couldn't win it all just once.

If the Eagles had pulled out one Super Bowl season none of us would be as hateful and jaded toward them as we are.

They'd be like the Phillies who basically saved our collective sanity by winning it all in '08.  That group will always be the GOAT to me.

If they had won one we'd of wanted more and since those teams were consistently close to the SB...one would not have been good enough especially coming off some pretty rough Kotite/Rhodes years. The tragedy of those teams is that they couldn't win even one. Missed opportunities after so many years of heartache makes for even more heartache.

Rome

Of course we'd want more just like we want the Phillies to win more.

My point was if we had won at least one there'd be a lot less angst and outright hatred of the team, especially the management and Reid.

Not from everyone, mind you.  There would still be people who are off the reservation crazy who would hate them regardless.
