Title: Keeper League '10
Post by: rjs246 on July 15, 2010, 12:00:22 PM
The league is up and invites have been sent to the returning players. *Please let me know if you are OUT this year.*

I have proposed a $20 buy in. Have received no complaints yet. Will likely ignore any complaints anyway.

Keeper allowances:
1 QB, 2 RB, 2 WR, 1 (TE, K or Def), 1 Rookie

This year's draft order (non-snaking):
1. Flying Flatuses - T Hawk
2. Philly Phreaks - Phreak (first round pick to Astroglide from the Steve Slaton trade)
3. Death by Pisco Sour - Sarge
4. Rick and his kids - hbionic
5. Astroglide - rjs246
6. Philly Crew - Philly Crew
7. GOB's Illusion - SunMo
8. Dio's Ragged Company - Dio

It goes without saying, of course, but I am open to trades.

Specifically I have two rookies that are worth keeping but only really need one. I also have Matt Schaub and Drew Brees for anyone who is QB deficient.

Did you send the invites via PM or email?  Never got a PM if that's the case and I can't check my yahoo mail until I get back from deployment.  In other words, don't expect me to "officially" sign up or post my roster/keepers until somewhere around Aug 1.

QB
Sheli Manning
Jay Cutler

RB
Marion Barber
Steven Jackson
Rashard Mendenhall
Jonathan Stewart
Beanie Wells (Rookie)

WR
Anquan Boldin
Jerricho Cotchery
Devin Hester
Brandon Marshall
Hines Ward

TE
Jeremy Shockey

K
Mason Crosby

DEF
Pittsburgh

I'd rather not play for money since at least one person didn't pay me for the CFFFL league I won last year.

Also, I'll give my 2nd round pick for Brees

First, there are only 8 of us in this league so no one should have to worry about being stiffed. But having said that if people are instistant upon it being free I won't overrule. I'll just mock.

If I take a second rounder for a QB it will be for Schaub. Definitely not for Brees.

With only 8 people, my 2nd rounder is essentially a 1st rounder since it will be the 9th pick.

I'll play for money but if I lose I'm not paying

Don't bother, I'll get it when I get back.  The ship's internet blocks you from signing into yahoo, gmail, etc, etc, so even if you gave me the info via PM, I still can't sign into my yahoo acct to register for the league.  Have another beer instead.

Getting gypped out of fantasy winnings is second only to people welching on bets. Awful.

We will do everything we can to ensure that type of bullshtein doesn't happen. I know that SunMo, Dio and I are good about payment if the past is any indication. I can't speak for anyone else.

I'm really not worried about it. The chances of my team winning are fairly slim and getting $140 or $160 or whatever last year was better than sending somebody an anthrax laced twenty (albeit getting the full $180 would have been even better)

I don't remember who it was...but I think T-Hawk or RJS posted my squad last season. Would you mind doing the honors again. I can't seem to find where my roster is. Thanks.

Also...if I lose, I won't pay. Because if I lost, most likely I would have been deported, and the dollar is weak right now, so I might as well spend it on myself anyways and buy a handjob for a hooker in T.J. and a beer.

If you want things done you gotta do them yourself. If you want things done right, the commish, or Dio, or T-Hawk should be in charge. But all your panties will probably dry up from all twisting and bunching up and I don't want dry, man-ties sitting around.

That is a stunningly weak RB situation for a small league. And Forte can eat me. Had the pleasure of having him and Westbrook in a league last year. That was an awesome combo.

I apologize about any tone that may have been 'mis-confused' as mockery. I do most of my reading on a site called www.concretefield.info. and thus has affected my ability to speak, read, and write. As an example, I say 'farg' without thinking about it. My brain is slowly dying.  I do not want to prematurely induce a consequence.

And watch half this league autodraft...lol.

farging Yahoo.

Phreak, since you did such a terrible job of putting your team together last year, you didn't have enough keepers and yahoo gave you the top pick to make up for it. Obviously, that shtein ain't for real. THawk drafted some scrub who you will trade Mathews for. Then you'll get first pick of the leftovers.
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: rjs246 on September 05, 2010, 09:47:16 PM
Well that was predictably retarded, but THawk did the league a solid by drafting McNabb last and screwing Phreak out of getting him off the waiver wire.

Also, auto-draft completely hosed Phreak. Embarrassingly.

You got screwed.  Also, I see that RJS got a second rounder from T-Hawk for Schaub but how did he get two 1st rounders (Shonne Green and Jahvid Best)?  Or are you getting Shonne Green Phreak since you were supposed to have the second pick?

In his defense, Slaton was a hot commodity leading up to last season. And he was coming off of his rookie season which carries more value in this league.

Still, highway robbery. I wonder if he would like to have Shonn Greene or Javhid Best on his roster right now...

Don't get me wrong, I love that I robbed phreak blind in that trade, but it's not like it was obvious at the time that he was getting jobbed. Everyone agreed that it was fair, it just so happened that it was a huge coup for me.

Of course, I used that pick to draft Fumbles McGoo so maybe it wasn't such a coup after all...

Guess I can't really count on Ronnie Brown for the rest of the game since I doubt the Fish will do much running and with a 20 point lead in the 4th and I don't know how much more Brady will throw.  That blocked fg/return for TD really hurt me.

I'm down 30 to PhillyCrew and Darren McFadden and his 43 points are sitting comfortably on my bench.  The only positive I can come up with here is that he still has Tony Romo going tonight so even if I had started McFadden, I'd only be ahead by 13 points and I'm pretty sure Romo will have no problem putting that on the board.  My team is awful.

Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: Diomedes on November 10, 2010, 04:10:27 PM
It was a perfectly idiotic offer.

What am I gonna do in a Keeper league:

a.) trade away a valuable draft pick for an old ass TE who to this point this season has posted only two games with 40+ yards, and who has caught only 3TDs.

or

b.) hang on to my rookie TE who gets just as many looks, has more yards, almost as many TDs (2) AND keep my draft pick

Yeah.

Yes, it's true.  You are looking for mid round draft picks.

Regarding the former assertion, well if the players on offer were truly quality keepers, then it stands to reason you'd be getting some deals done.  Which you're not.

So.

Title: Re: Keeper League '10

The way I look at it, you're all scared of being embarrassed by another rjs trade and would rather keep Aaron Hernandez on your rosters than trade a fifth round pick to me. Either way, the idea that neither Gonzo nor Witten is worth a mid round pick in a league that requires you to keep a TE/K/D is laughable.

Don't know what your league's scoring setting is but in a PPR league Witten is the #2 scoring TE this year
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: Diomedes on November 12, 2010, 04:14:03 PM
this league isn't PPR; TEs are minor players

our highest scoring TE is Gates, of course...120 points so far..after that it's a huge dropoff to the next TE at 75 points.  Witten slots in 6th at 68 points.

by comparison, 28 Defenses and 8 kickers have scored more points than Witten

A few short weeks ago I was staring at the first or 2nd pick and now I'm looking at drafting in the middle of every round.  Time to say something dramatic.....

I am raising the stakes right now, ... If this is a poker game, I am shoving my chips right in the middle of the table. I am raising the ante. Anybody who wants out, can get out. This team is going to the playoffs. OK? This team is going to the playoffs.

Gore went down weeks ago and now MJD is all but out, so my championship game RBs are likely to be: Blount, Rashad Jennings, and whichever NYG RB I subbed in the last time I changed my mind before 1 o'clock.

With Andre Johnson questionable with a capital 'q', I added...wait for it....Kevin Walter to fill in.  Scary good.  I wisely left Fitz on the bench--who woulda thunk it would ever be wise to bench a healthy Fitz??---so my WRs for this game will likely be Kevin Walter and Mike Williams of Tampa Bay.  Yay me.

My likely starters:

Rivers @ Cin

Jennings v. Washington
Blount v. Seattle
Bradshaw @ Green Bay

Walter @ Denver
Mike Williams v. Seattle

Cooley @ Jacksonville

Vinatieri  @ Oakland

New England @ Buffalo

If I win, I'd like to thank SunMo for the beatdowns which he suffered against my inferior, lucky team.

Uh, no. I didn't collect, those two clowns just gave me their money in Nashville under the assumption that they wouldn't win because their teams were terrible.

Idiots.

oh bff dio, i'm just messing with you, you're the bestest champion ever.

scoring 200 points less than me and beating me twice has nothing to do with luck, you're just that good

Congrats Dio.

A stinging defeat.

I wasn't counting on it because Jackson is so streaky.

Couple this lost cash with the lost cash from only finishing second in my other league and I went from possibly pocketing $560 to only pulling in $200.

Send me your address and I will send your money when I get back to the States.

fluke is one year maybe...but that dopey errand runner has three firsts and a second in the last five years...its a joke

if it wasnt an awful keeper league (and probably has flex positions) id get in just to win a few extra bucks every year

Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: rjs246 on January 04, 2011, 01:54:30 PM
I'm the commish. And no. Can't pick up players once the season is over. Same for every league I've ever been in.
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: Tomahawk on January 04, 2011, 03:28:18 PM
Yeah I forgot to pick up Dallas Clark (so I can drop shteinbag Witten) and Steve Smith (NYG) for keepers. Please amend my roster accordingly.
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: rjs246 on January 04, 2011, 03:30:35 PM
No. Why would you be allowed to pick those players up when you dropped them during the season?
Title: Re: Keeper League '10

Post by: Tomahawk on January 04, 2011, 03:33:08 PM
I didn't drop either of them. I believe I can pick up anybody on the waiver wire; just forgot to do it before the season ended
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: PoopyfaceMcGee on January 04, 2011, 03:35:41 PM
What about the other people in the league who "forgot" to do that?  Why don't they get a chance at some hot Dallas Clark action?  Stop being an entitled shtein and put your thinking cap on for a change, you ambiguously gay twatface.
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: Tomahawk on January 04, 2011, 03:38:02 PM
Why would I care about the other people?
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: PoopyfaceMcGee on January 04, 2011, 03:40:33 PM
Because your league commish cares about boning you all equally.
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: rjs246 on January 04, 2011, 03:55:17 PM
Rosters are locked for the off-season as soon as the season ends. Up to the point where the season ends you can add and drop players as you wish. After that point you're SOL.
Title: Re: Keeper League '10
Post by: Sgt PSN on January 04, 2011, 07:04:04 PM
I forgot to start Darren McFadden that week he scored 41 points.  So if you could just go ahead and make that change for me, that'd be great...m'kay?

Because as it turns out, had I started him that week, I would have won, which would have put me in the playoffs over Phreak.
And that means that had I made the playoffs, I would have faced PhillyCrew in the first round.....where I scored  104.53 to his 104.5.  That would have put me in the championship game against Dio, where I scored 97.29 to his 97.34.  HOWEVER....if I were in the Championship Game I would have started Tom Brady and his 24.9 points over Mark Sanchez and his 14.76 points which would have given me a 10 point win over Dio.

Therefore, bow down to me because I'm your 2010 CFKL Champion.

So yeah.....just go ahead and make that change whenever you have a minute.  Preferably before Saturday......that's the victory parade.
