league playoffs will be weeks 15 and 16 with week 17 being a superbowl bwtn the two winners

missed fg's
passing yards too much (should be around 20-30)
reception yards too much (10 and only 10)
rushing yards to much (same deal)

For real though-
I've never seen a leage scoring sysytem so predicated on defense, not to mention your receiver better be money or forget it about it
Title: Re: 2008 CF Fantasy Football

What the system does is prevent a single freak statistical performance from making the difference between winning and losing.  There were times last year that an entire roster would do well only to be beaten because a running back ran for 225 and 4 touchdowns.  It shouldn't be that way, IMO.

But whatever.  If you guys want changes, I'm sure IGY can make them.
Title: Re: 2008 CF Fantasy Football
Post by: reese125 on July 26, 2008, 10:08:42 PM
although Romey, you have to admit--when an RB has that kind of day--the owner of him should be rewarded accordingly because that kind of performance happens once every so often...and its like hitting the jackpot.

I agree that system makes it tougher which is nice--but also when a defense has 4 or 5 sacks, youre talking 20 points right there--something your 1st or 2nd round rb or wr cant even get most of the time. Then you throw in a interception here and there thats another 8pts.

first off is reese/cole should have to pay double $ douche fee if they/it decide(s) to join

second is that i think there should some kind of offensive lineman stat so i can draft king dunlap

exactly...it makes every position equal...a wr big game = a rb big game = a qb big game...no anomalies

ive only used these exact stats in our fantasy league for the last ten years...so i have have no idea what im doing

I don't understand bitching about the scoring..it's not like it gives any single player an advantage.  The rules are the same for everyone.

If you don't like 'em, don't play.

..it's not like it gives any single player an advantage.

That's the thing...ff scoring has always been that is some leagues RBs are gold, in some QBs are...when you try and level the playing field across all positions, it kinda takes the fun out of it. It's almost like fantasy football communism.

A kicker or a defensive back should not have the same value as a QB or a RB
Title: Re: 2008 CF Fantasy Football
Post by: Rome on July 28, 2008, 09:14:30 AM
But on a real football field they do, Wing.  A kicker can kick three or four field goals or miss an extra point and as a result can make just as much difference in a game as a running back or QB.  Same goes for a DB.

If you spread out the scoring it makes drafting and free agent pickups all the more important.

Just how I see it, though

Title: Re: 2008 CF Fantasy Football
Post by: ice grillin you on July 28, 2008, 09:54:57 AM
in my league kickers and defensive players are not quite equal to offensive players...however a good game by a kicker will beat a weak game by an offensive player...same thing with the defense...if a guy gets you two sacks a forced fumble and a few tackles he will beat a wr who had four catches and 60 yards

its qb rb te and wr that are all equal
Title: Re: 2008 CF Fantasy Football
Post by: reese125 on July 28, 2008, 10:52:36 AM
So by that example you just gave, your d-lineman get 11 pts.and toss in a pass deflected on the line to make it 13

So my 1st receiver picked needs a no TD  300 yd day or a 200 yd/TD day to match that very attainable weekly stat by your lineman

Jared Allen # 1 pick it is then

you arent very smart are you?

your first wr could have a six catch 120 yard no td day and match that

however a huge week for a wr would include a td and therefore would get more than 11 pts that the DL would have their...plus youre using the very top end of what a DL would do in a great game...a lineman might have a game like that maybe once or twice a year...your #1 wr is going to a bunch of games over 11 pts during the year..theres no comparison

jared allen i think led all defensive players last year in pts at 132

bernard berrian who had a fairly average fantasy year had 139

so go ahead and take a defensive player first so i can have your ten bucks

Beat reporter Mike Preston writes that it wouldn't surprise him if the Ravens cut Willis McGahee before the season is through.

Preston has the inside track in Baltimore. He says McGahee has "angered" Ravens officials with his consistently poor work ethic and "doesn't know his plays" in the new offense. We doubt McGahee will be cut before next offseason, but a diminished role is quite possible.

QuotePUNTA GORDA — A 35-year-old man was arrested Monday morning after he allegedly became upset over points in his Fantasy Football league and threatened to kill his roommate.

According to a report from the Charlotte County Sheriff's Office, Chester Marcial "Chet" Ward, of the 4500 block of Duncan Road in Punta Gorda, allegedly sliced pages in the book his roommate was reading before holding a knife to his roommate's neck and threatening to kill him.

The report stated the roommate, who "was in fear of his life," went to a neighbor's home and called 911.

When deputies arrived, Ward admitted to being upset over points from his fantasy football league and that he asked his roommate to move out of the residence. Because the roommate was ignoring him, Ward told the deputies that he pulled out his knife and cut the book as a joke.

While Ward said he never threatened to kill his roommate, authorities arrested him on a charge of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.

The report stated Ward resisted arrest and even struck an officer's hands before running across Duncan Road to escape arrest. As he ran away from the residence, Ward was Tasered by another deputy, and was then handcuffed.

Additional charges of battery on a law enforcement officer and resisting arrest with violence were added to Ward's arrest. He is being held without bond at the Charlotte County Jail.
