Won't play till November at best. Some athletes never fully recover from achilles injuries (Elton Brand, Ryan Howard).

Fine with taking a chance on Jones but I wouldn't have touched him until the 3rd.

Ah...his achilles is broken. Of course he was drafted by the Eagles. What was I realistically expecting.

Sidney Jones was a sixers pick.  I approve.   Take the dude with the monster ceiling over decent cb.

I think his Achilles carries a pretty good prognosis. Especially since he has Jason Peters to show him how to properly rehab.

pretty much....argument can be made to have taken a healthy rb but if you are going to take the corner you take jones....i think one of the other corners down to tankersly is going to be on the board next round

So if Jones can play this season, do you start him?

Given the difference between being out all year and playing is being RFA instead of a UFA, I say let him sit.

No...you slowly work him in on 3rd downs etc.

Mills has been playing like a man who doesn't want to lose his job. It is going to be tough getting Darby and Jones snaps if he is ready to go. Mills has not only been solid but he is improving as each game goes by. I loved how he jacked that DB up on the play Cox had a sack but got dinged. I can't even remember the last good Eagles CB who liked to mix it up and plays with a chip - Vincent maybe? After an up and down start to the season wouldn't be shocked if he makes the probowl.

this is dope....he also has traveled with the team on every road trip as if he was going to play so that he can get acclimated to every little aspect of the league...

QuoteAnd according to secondary coach Cory Undlin, Jones already "knows the defense," meaning the only thing holding him back is his injured Achilles.

"He has not changed since he got here," Undlin said Tuesday when asked about Jones. "Every meeting – hasn't missed one meeting. Hasn't missed a practice. I mean, he's missed practice because he's not [healthy], but he's out there every single day. He stands right next to us. He gets every call in every period. I call on him in the meetings as if he was playing – he's obviously not. He knows the defense."

i wonder what they do going forward with cb

jones and darby are the future, but douglas and mills have proven they can play at this league. yes they have a lower ceiling than the other 2, but they belong. robinson is having an amazing season.

Too much CB depth is a good problem to have.

It really is insane how just a few months ago the secondary was considered not just a weakness on this team, but it was probably looking like it could be bottom third in the league.

Absolutely, and that's being generous. I expected Wentz to get better, so that didn't surprise me...but I think the story of the turnaround to this point is the secondary stepping up big time. And it's not like the Eagles knew, either...Darby came via trade for a reason.

The front seven have been spectacular.  That's one of the major reasons the cb's have been so good and Schwartz has used Jenkins and McLeod perfectly too.

also the run defense is off the charts...they are over 10 yards better per game than the second place team...pass defense gets to face a lot of third and longs
